  1. One additional question.

I entered TL on Oct. 16 on my new type 0 visa. I was told that my next check in is Feb 24 as per the attached image here.  This stapled on piece of paper covers my new visa.  I have already scanned the pages without the paper notation.  Should I also include a scan of these pages with the notation?

  2. About to do my 1st 90 day after getting a new type 0 visa in Vientiane.  Flight back was on AirAsia and my ticket stub, which for other airlines was always properly printed, was printed on thermal paper and has already faded to be nearly illegible.  No idea if or when this piece of paper will be needed but I keep it in my passport.  My extension of stay is completed and approved and stamped now. (thank you ubonjoe, et al!)

My assumption is my old 90 Day receipt, which shows me to be long past due, is trash and does not need to be included with my TM47 and passport page copies. Correct?

RE: the ticket stub, do I need to include this with my paperwork?  I can bring out the details in photoshop if it is needed.  I don't recall ever having to include it in my papers I submit but I may not remember that correctly.  Thanks!

  3. My ext. of stay is all complete and passport is stamped.  Thanks @ubonjoe and the others that helped walk me through the steps to get a new Type O visa when my funds were not seasoned due to my error.

While getting my extension of stay dropped off for processing at CW, we were told by the officer handling us that I would need to come back a 3rd time to do the 90 Day report.  According to her, the first time one does their 90 Day on a NEW visa, you have to come in person.  It's a waste of most of a day for me so, "bummer" I thought.

When we came back to CW and I got my new stamps a month later, we walked over to the 90 day dept. and my wife asked one of the ladies at a desk there about this.  She said I can mail it in.

So has anyone heard of NOT being able to mail in your first 90 Day report on a new Type O visa (thai wife)?

    Thank you in advance!

  4. Thanks @ubonjoe

You are correct I will be going to CW and thanks for remembering.

RE: 11. I have copies of wife's house book and ID so that should cover that.  I'll be getting the bank letter and the update to the bankbook at the CW bank branch 1st as they will send me there anyway.  Since the map requirements haven't changed I'll just work from the one I used last time. ;)

Seems nothing has changed since last year which is a small surprise as I was sure I'd read something here about some changes in the hand drawn map.  Probably why I couldn't find anything in a search.

  5. Below is the check list I am working from to fulfill my Type O visa extention of stay based on Marriage requirements for a US citizen.

Does anyone see any changes from last year that I should be aware of?  I'd read the hand drawn map specs had changed but now can't find any reference to it in the forums.

In my case, I have a KR22 not KR2 and no children.  We were married in the USA so the "Copy of the letter from the MFA showing you were able to marry" does not apply I assume.  At any rate I have never needed that in 4 years AFAIK.  I have original marriage certificate and the translation.

    Thank you for any help!

      1. Two application forms T.M. 7 with two photographs size 4x6 cm. and Visa Fee 1900.-Baht
       2. Copy Marriage Certificate
       3. Copy Kor Ror 2 from amphur office, marriage registry (not older than six months, even if marriage certificate is under 6 months old)
       4. Child's birth certificate (if any)
       5. Copy wife’s house registration (first page showing address and the page showing her details)
       6. Copy wife’s identity card
       7. Copy passport (all pages with stamps), non-Im visa, arrival card.
       8. Interview the husband and wife for confirming status of husband and wife
       9. Map to residency (names of roads and house marked in Thai and GPS coordinates)
       10. 3 Pictures,  one showing you outside the house with wife and house number visible, One in bedroom, One showing time relaxing.
       11. Copy house book from residence (signed by owner and a signed copy of their ID Card, as this may not be the wife in some cases) or rental contract.
12: Copy of the letter from the MFA showing you were able to marry

    With money in bank option.
       1. Letters from your bank same day or day before stating bank records, and a transaction list for the past two months.
       2. Bank account must be in Husbands name, joint accounts will not qualify.
       3. Letter from bank must show transaction during previous two months.

  6. Sorry to revisit this topic again but my wife is asking me to find documentation from Immigration that states I need to wait 45 days from time of entry on my new Type O visa.  My date of entry was Oct. 16.

All I could find was this page http://www.thaiembassy.org/hochiminh/en/services/2886/34923-Non-Immigrant-Visa-"O"---Accompanying-sp.html

    which states

    "6. PERIOD OF STAY

Holder of this type of visa is entitled to stay in Thailand for a maximum period of 90 days.  He or she may apply for an extension of stay at the Office of the Immigration Bureau and may be granted such extension for a period of one year from the date of first entry into Thailand."

Of course nothing is stated that I need to wait at all.

Tomorrow is the date @ubonjoe had given and 45 days is shown as the 30th by wikidates, and I can't find anything on Thailand's Immigration sites that tells me I need to "season" my visa (as it were) before applying for the extension so can anyone direct me to a site that states this to assuage my wife's fears?  She has a very tight schedule and wants to make absolutely sure we have a green light to go to CW tomorrow.

I have never been given inaccurate advice here on TV but today my wife is of a different mind.

    Thanks!

You can go to immigrations for the extension based on marriage up to 45 day before your permission to stay expires.

    Thank you @Suradit69.

45 days in Thailand puts me at the 30th of this month if you count the day I arrived on Oct. 16.

FYI I calculated this on my own several times and got different answers each time, so I asked the google gods and found this wiki site which will calculate X number of days for you.  Math is NOT my strong suit and this is a great calculator for such things.

    http://www.wikidates.org/calculate/45-days-from-10-16-2016.html

90 days, according to the stamp, ( thank you @Suradit69 for pointing this out) puts the Visa as ending on Jan 13 2017.  I was looking on the Visa itself for a date and found none and was wondering about that!

So my reason for writing here is for some clarification.  You say I can go to CW up to 45 days before Jan 13th (meaning between my entry date and Nov. 30th),  and @ubonjoe says "The 29th would be the earliest you could a apply. There is no latest other than the last day of your 90 entry."  Which one is it it for my extension based on marriage?

    Thanks!

  8. Thanks @muzmurray.

In case this matters, the money went in on Sept. 1.  I've lived here since '12 on a type O visa based on marriage.  I had miscalculated the timing for the money seasoning so I had to leave TL for Vientiane to get a new visa.

I entered Thailand from Vientiane with new visa on Oct. 16. This is my post that I followed to get that done.  I go to CW in BKK to do all my visa stuff.

  9. Yeah a tablet isn't a good working method unless you absolutely have to and adding RAW files to it is going to fill it up fast.  But then top quality jpgs will do the same thing eventually.

You can color correct jpegs but working in RAW w/Lightroom, I can select a series of images, do the corrections on 1 image, then hit Synch and the corrections I tell it to will be nearly instantly applied to all the selected images.  In pshop you have to open each image, correct, then save.  In LR everything is done in the metadata so the image is not changed until you export once you've finished working on them.  At that point you can export as jpeg, tiff, etc at whatever quality level you want.

LR for me also helps organize all these images, but that's a whole 'nother subject.

  10. RAW will always be better and allows for greater corrections than with jpgs.  Your jpgs will just start looking crappier over time and especially if you do any work on them.

But if you don't want to do that, change the white balance on the camera from auto to flash when lighting dictates.  Also you could "correct" (being subjective of course) the color of the flash shot easily to come closer to the non-flash shot in Pshop.

  11. Gypsum aka drywall would be terribly heavy and would  leave chalk marks all over as it is dragged.  Fiber glass I suppose would work but again, weight makes this impractical when you're talking about 4'x8's X 2 taped together.  Given drywall's weight, I doubt there is a tape made capable of keeping 2 pieces together.

  12. Just back from Lao and I thought I should report on how it went.  Thanks to @unbonjoe and @elviajero everything went smoothly.  I was prepared for anything.  I didn't want to make a trip all the way there and be rejected because I didn't have something.

As has been mentioned do not bother to talk to anyone outside of the consular property as there is nothing they can do for you.

One presents their papers at a table outside to a lady working there.  They did ask for copies of my Lao visa that I got on arrival.  Copies can be made in the office adjacent to the outdoor waiting area and was no biggie.  Once I presented her with everything after making my copies, she gave me a numbered slip and directed me to one of 2 lines.  There, you hand them your papers and passport and hang onto that numbered slip putting it in a safe place.  Don't lose it!

The next day they begin calling numbers which are also displayed on a board above the windows.  When called, you will get your passport returned with your new visa after paying (in my case) 2000B.

Thanks again, @unbonjoe and @elviajero for all you patience and help.

  13. There is and you probably see it everyday in shop signage but it seems flimsy or it is in this climate.  Where the sign people get it is another mystery.  The type boards I've seen here in rental studios would be called gator foam in the US, which is a more dense and rigid type of foam.
