Next month my gf and I fly from our hometown of Narathiwat to Chiang Mai with Thai Smile. All on one ticket, with a stopover at BKK.
I have never traveled like this before, let alone during Covid times.
Does TS allow us to just stay in the domestic(?) transfer zone and label our bagage through to CNX?
Is all applicable signage clear?

Sometimes surprises me that in a country, with so many generals and a army so powerful, they never decided to just send the entire country's force down there and finish it for once and all.
Won't help. It will just make the locals more angry and breed the new generation of even fiercer insurgents. Violence is not the answer here.

The Southern Insurgency has seen over 7,000 people killed in just 16 years and there's currently no end in sight. Maybe it will need another 14 years to make people see sense and talk without preconditions.
The number of incidents and victims has decreased significantly though, even in the four+ years I've been living here.
The first question that many people ask me when they learn I live in the deep south is "Aren't you afraid?"
I'm not and in practice there's very little to be afraid of besides hitting a cow on the road at night.

What some people will do for money.... and they call themselves Buddhists.
May I remind you that Narathiwat is in the deep south and 80 percent of the population is Muslim, not Buddhist?
Might bloody well have been Muslims now innit mate?

About private schools not offering social security: I have been a teacher for four years at the same school now, two of which have been with SS. I did have to ask about getting it, in lieu of my previous AIA package, but I did get it and so did my foreign colleagues.

Crikey! This has turned out to be a real mess we got ourselves in.
Look y'all, I ain't sayin that us Brits should take everythin the EU throw at us, you know. But we ain't no chums or bogans, aight, and should respect international law. We may be an amazing country, but look at what this whole Brexit thing got us into, you know what I'm sayin?
This ain't no laughing matter innit?

I don't think any asian countries are open. Except for turkey, which i guess is technically an asian country.
Afghanistan is open to foreigners.

He's lucky to have committed his act in NZ. Most other countries would have sent the scumbag to jail for life already. Or worse.

I'm in Narathiwat. Here we have only just had Foodpanda. No Grab yet. I have used FP a few times though.

Spent a lot of time in Betong during the 90's. Arriving from the Malaysian side, as was working in Kelantan. Found it a very laid back and relaxed location, and preferable to the other option, Sungai Golok.
Had some bombings, the last about three years back, so that will always be a concern. Having any level of security is not an ideal look for a touted tourist location, so planned numbers will likely be difficult, if not impossible, to attain, even without the severe impact of covid.
The new airport will make it a much easier trip from other parts of Thailand and that will likely drive the initial (internal) tourist influx. However, I would think that the prime target was the Chinese market, so, ideal to head there, early doors, for those of us lucky to still be in Thailand and able to get in while the going is good. That will definitely include me, to refresh my memories whilst I am still able to generate new ones.
Without any foreign tourists most bars and hotels will probably stay closed as at least 80 percent of visitors is Malaysian.

Does such a menu really exist?

It's Hari Rayo time now. Eerily quiet here in Narathiwat, whereas yesterday it was brimming with people in town.

I suppose you've never been intimate with a muslimah. They generally they better care of themselves than their northern sisters do.

I live in the deep south and it is true that a huge number of people from here are either currently studying in the ME or have graduated from university there.
Most of them in Islamic Studies or Arabic.

Now seems like they are mostly importing the virus
At least the Thai government tries to stop them before they take it too far into the country. I live in Narathiwat and this province and the rest of the Three Provinces region has been hit hard by the virus. Maybe it's for the better that borders stay closed for foreigners. Thai people are of course welcome to return, but are - thank God - subject to extensive health measures.

I'd say being in Egypt is an underlying medical ... Especially if you aren't Egyptian.
I live in Southern Thailand and many Muslims from here are studying or have studied in the Middle East, importing necessary knowledge, incl. English and Arabic language skills and knowledge of The Holy Quran, back to Thailand.

I can confirm that the Sai Tai Mai - Pattaya bus was not running on July 5, two weeks ago. I'm not sure about the current situation.

"Does anyone now feel at risk when they go out and about"?
I was feeling fine about going here and there but lately a little wary, probably due to the recent spikes around the globe and the news this morning of people arriving and not being quarantined.
Not at all. I teach at a school of over 4000 students and 250 teachers and staff and you can bet that, in spite of the lightly enforced anti-spread measures, if one person gets infected the virus will soon spread throughout the school.
I'm just doing my job and if I catch Covid anywhere, then Alhamdulilah, it's God's will. So be it. I'm not afraid to die.

Are we still banned?
Apparently not. I rode the bus all the way from Bangkok to Hat Yai. Granted, it was a different company, but there's no reason to think there'd be any problem whatsoever when trying to catch a ride on a state bus. Except the comfort and ability to sleep.

Living in Narathiwat I can safely say the deep south is not what people make it out to be. I have never heard of Pattani being less safe than the other provinces either.
