    Caucasian farangs generally do NOT visit the deep south. And that's a good thing, or we'd be hearing about whiteys being chopped up and done all the time. I suggest you visit Patters instead.

    Finally a decent salary for those folks. Now hopefully they'll expand the salary increases to include foreigners too.

    It's not for everyone, but I'm happy living here, surrounded by mosques and the Muslim culture, instead of scantily clad girls and farangs in singlets. No celebration of songkran, buddhist holidays or other festivals, but only Eid al-fitr and Eid al-Adha are celebrated by beautifully dressed Muslim women and their husbands. To each his own. Alhamdulilah

    After a few years in the Muslim deep south of Thailand, I stopped drinking alcohol instead. In an environment where next to no one drinks, it's pretty easy not to feel tempted. There is no cannabis culture here either. Not that I would ever start using it in the first place.

    Not everyone here is a Muslim. There are Buddhists, Christians and people of other faiths. As a farang living in Narathiwat, I am a Christian too. We actually have a small community of missionaries here. And they wouldn't be here, if there outreach efforts were completely in vain.

    My wife is from Yala too. And, yes, she is a Muslim(ah). Not many buddhists living around these parts. In her village, in fact her entire district of Bannang Star I don't know a single Buddhist.

    He crossed in Narathiwat. I live in the province, and it's not exactly hard to cross the river separating Thailand and Malaysia. In fact, until recently locals used to do that semi-legally every day. Nowadays, because of concerns of terrorism, the Thai side tries to enforce border security much more strictly. But where there's a will, there's a way. The border is over 100 km long and easily passable.

    Exactly, dude. The politeness will be those folks' undoing. It's about time Canada became our 51st state. We'll teach them how to be REAL men instead of the woke liberal sissies they are now. And Canadian resources are a welcome addition to our economy btw. USA USA!🇺🇲

    You can even see someone walking around at the crash site after the truck has crashed into the bottom part of the bridge. Unless that person just arrived there, they really should have put some warning signs in front of the collapsed bridge.

    The Nigerian population is about 50 percent Muslim, so his name is hardly surprising for a Nigerian. Not all Africans are called Mbabango Nkulampukosa or some sh**.

    Surprising to read this. I use the airport often. Security is extremely tight at the airport and every car entering is checked inside and out.

    Everyone here dislikes local law enforcement and what they stand for. Condolences to their relatives, but when you're in the line of fire as a hard target, do not be surprised when these attacks affect you one day.

    Nobody will "enforce" this. They can only ask people to "please, PLEASE, do not cause fires!". All talk, no action.

    The dudes in the pics look like teens, y'all. I can't believe they are 30 and 40 already. You wanna catch some bad guys, better come up with more recent pics to identify them.

    Often they are hidden in drainage pipes running under the roads. Checkout some pictures online of the aftermath of some attacks; often you can see a crater in the middle of the road, right through the concrete or asphalt.

    They always know when the 'enemy' is supposed to pass by. I have lived in the region for 8.5 years and have been on countless roads with IEDs buried beneath them, some of which were detonated less than an hour later. Still, I'm not afraid. As a farang I'm not on the hit list and the insurgents never randomly detonate those explosives inshallah.

    It always seems to be NST that makes the news like this. Even my province of Narathiwat does not see so much gun crime besides insurgents' attacks.
