  1. Tragic. Rest in Peace, young one.

More than likely another accident that could have been avoided with routine maintenance and checks. But this is Thailand where no one does their job and fobs off responsibility as a way of habit.

Do you know how this incident happened then? Of course you don't but this is Thaivisa were you know more than everyone else, particularly Thais

  2. What was this boat made out of, cinder and tar? why did it caught on fife so quickly?

many questions aren't answered here? and why is everything in Thailand is a death

    traps for local and tourists?

Wood, it burns you know. There was an explosion on the boat that's why it caught fire so quickly.

Your not being strictly accurate in your last statement, nowhere near everything in Thailand is a death trap, I've been here over 20 years and travelled in cars, buses, vans, ferries, planes, motorcycles, trains and never once been killed.

  3. ....."Re-train staff" The staff wasn't the problem, it was the two security guards. Fire the guards and hire some from a reputable Security Company. Hiring guards off the street is not a wise choice. " Use Night sticks", not sky hooks for protection.

i would suggest you review the definition of "staff".

I would also suggest he explains what a "sky hook" is.

And ask him how he knows the bouncers were hired off the street.

Also I'd ask him why he thinks bouncers should be allowed to use truncheons on civilians who aren't allowed to carry them lawfully.

On second thoughts I wouldn't ask him anything, the answers would be as nonsensical as his posts.

  4. Every mall in BKK has loads of "clinics" with many nice girls in white coats. I always wondered what happens in there.

If having white skin really made a difference than why do they all try to ask me double prices? That's very respectless where i come from.

So you have been into many ("...they all try to ask me double prices...) skin whitening clinics and had quotations for that treatment? I seriously doubt that is true, much more likely that you are making this up, unless you can name the clinics, of course.

Your accusation is even more "respectless" [sic] regardless of where you come from.

  5. From the OP it seems there are at least 3 men employed at this rather small station. I have to wonder what they do, besides "resting in front of the station".

With 6 services per day, ticket sales must take up much of their time.

"From the OP it seems there are at least 3 men employed at this rather small station. I have to wonder what they do"

Why, how would it be relevant?

  6. Those taxi drivers pictured took a huge gamble assembling to protest when not one of them displayed a registration number.

Unless those taxis weren't involved in the protest, of course, but in that case why show a photo of unrelated, probably Bangkok, taxis? Could it be to help those of us who don't know what a taxi looks like so that we can understand the story better? Thanks, Maslow, much appreciated.

  7. but how is it and the threads intentions related to motoring?

Seen at the Bangkok Int'l Motor Show

And many other non-automotive related locations, nonsensical stretch.. I'm with IMHO, no LSD on a single one of them.. Just another Thai bashing thread, only now it's allowed in here too. sad.pngrolleyes.gif

"Just another Thai bashing thread, only now it's allowed in here too"

That's rich coming from the champion Thai-driver bashing instigator. Talk about hypocrisy!

  8. I agree, anything advertised as an "International Driving Licence" carries no weight as a driving document.

If you would like to post a screenshot of the offending advertisement (which is likely a Google ad) anything illegal will be removed.

    Moving to Forum Support.

Wouldn't know how to post a screenshot but why don't you just look at your own forum and read it? It's not hard to find a banner ad across the top of this page.

They are targeted ads depending on viewing history and as such will not necessarily be seen by everyone. For example, I see an ad for laboratory grade Laser Diodes at the top of this page as I have been doing a lot of Google searching for them recently.

Thus the need for a screenshot by the member who sees it. Hit Print Screen key, open a paint program such as MS Paint, paste into it, save it then use the Attach File feature. Or just use the built in windows app Snipping Tool located under Accessories in the Start menu.

Or, much easier, you could just Google "international driving licence" and maybe see the ad yourself as you seem to know your way around a computer, I don't. Incidentally prior to seeing the ad my viewing history had no connection whatsoever to dodgy licence translations.

Anyway this has got too long-winded for me, you just continue allowing ads for illegal products to be foisted on your members for George's betterment, I'm out of this one now.

  9. Well in Bangkok about 25% of all drivers doesn't have proper lights on their vehicles. I guess it's too hard for them to change a lightbulb, maybe the vocational students can do that for them? The police doesn't seem to care, who needs good working lights on their car/motorbike anyway? Mai pen rai krab, sabaai sabaai.

And on Thaivisa about 25% of all posters "doesn't" have access to proper statistics. I guess it's too hard for them to research properly, much better to throw a wildly exaggerated figure about in a lame attempt to bash Thais again and bash the police in particular.

  10. 40 degrees and the smog from the wildfires?

Water is not going to do a lot.

Arrest the sobs and hold them responsible.

What does it take to get your...in gear?

Water will only potentially safe your life. Arrest which sons of bitches, and for what, for putting up with the heat? This is nothing to do with "wildfires", get your arse in gear.

  11. Seems that I may owe Thaivisa an apology as the advert for International Driving Licences that enable the user to "drive a vehicle anywhere in the world" is still at the top of most if not all pages on this site.

Crossy said that he would remove any advertisement promoting illegal activities such as claims or inferences that give anyone with any driving licence the right to drive anywhere in the world regardless of the country as long as payment is made to some private US company.

The ad has been running for a few days now so it must be safe for any Thaivisa readers to pay for this unofficial International Driving Licence translation with which one will be able to "drive a vehicle anywhere in the world".

Thanks to Thaivisa for keeping the interests of it's members at heart as always.

  12. Your friend read that for you on April 1st?

And I believe the rule that a Thai national could import a car tax free was taken away some years ago. To many students returned with a brand new Lamborghini.

    The exemption still exists.

Your assertion is just plain nonsense as brand new vehicles would not be eligible for exemption. As long as a student can prove that he was the registered owner of the vehicle for at least 18 months before importing it whether the car was a Lamborghini or a Lada would not make any difference at all.

  13. Yes there is such a thing as international driving licenses.

I can walk into an RAA here in Australia with my Aussie drivers license and be issued one for a small fee. It is a legal license. Legally I can drive in any country then including Thailand.

That's a permit for holders of Australian licences to drive internationally. Australia, or any other country, cannot issue permits for holders of non-Australian licences to drive anywhere. The banner ad on here is suggesting that their translations will permit those daft enough to send them money to do just that, "drive a vehicle anywhere in the world".

  14. I agree, anything advertised as an "International Driving Licence" carries no weight as a driving document.

  15. Thaivisa's own forum rules ban discussion of illegal activities yet the banner advert for the past couple of days has been a US company offering to provide an unofficial translation of driving licences with the suggestion that is an "International Driving Licence" that would permit the purchaser to drive anywhere.

This is nothing but a scam being promoted by our dear forum which is making advertising revenue from anyone who is foolish enough to pay for the worthless piece of plastic. Even thought it states in the ad that the translation is not an official document the intent is clearly to mislead and defraud those who do not read everything as they should, i.e. 90% of Thhaivisa posters.

There is no such thing as an International Driving Licence and certainly no US company or even DMV could ever issue any authorisation for holders of non-US licences to drive internationally'

One rule for them and one for us, eh?

  16. More wasted campaign money.........

Only way to go is hit the smokers, where it hurts the most, their wallet!!

200 baht/pack will make quite a few smokers quit the habit!!

And don't give me, but the poor................It is not a democratic right to kill yourself!!

There's no wasted campaign money, the cost of printing cigarette packs is borne by the cigarette companies and it's an individual's democratic right to smoke.

  17. Let's be honest. Many smoker's have a death wish and these warnings are just a confirmation that their choice of death is assured. Insurance actuarials prove that smokers are good for society by not living long enough to collect their old age benefits. Also, I believe that adults should have the choice to abuse themselves in any way that does not cause harm to others. Smoking is a victim-less crime as one can't victimize one's self. Nanny Statism is anathema to me.

    "Smoking is a victim-less crime..."

Since when has smoking been a crime?
