Doing online 90 day report on new passport.
cauldlad replied to giddyup's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just did the transfer stamps at Jomtien with my new UK passport. They did not ask me to complete a new TM30 and just left the old TM30 in my passport, which is about six years old. -
If you don't like it Leave ! Root canal
cauldlad replied to georgegeorgia's topic in Health and Medicine
I have just had a root canal done in Pattaya two weeks ago. 8,000bt. Went yesterday for a check up. Healing nicely but he wants to wait another three weeks until it is 100% healed before fitting the crown. Do not know the price of the crown but he did an excellent job with the root canal.. Although he gave me painkillers after the filling, I did not use them as there was no pain!! -
New UK passport / 90 day
cauldlad replied to lelapin's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just do it yourself. Take the two passports to Jomtien. You have to return the next day to pick them up but it is free. -
Got one last week at the Caddyshack Pattaya.

Pattaya Police Ensure No Alcohol Sold During End of Buddhist Lent Day
cauldlad replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
They did not do a very good job!!! Loads of bars selling alcohol in Pattaya city centre. -
I looked at the UK website to do it from Thailand online, but you have to be in the UK to be successful. The problem is, if you do it from Thailand using a UK address you then need to send the old passport to the UK which obviously would show that the passport had been sent from Thailand. This would result in a rejection of your application. I ended up using an agent as I did not fancy two trips to Bangkok and got it back in five weeks.

Not the darkside but I had mine done at the clinic in Soi Buakou 2 weeks ago. 1000bt for both ears. Good service.

UK Passport renewal Key visa Co
cauldlad replied to soalbundy's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Their office in Pattaya is at the top of Soi 15 the Buakhow end. I used them last week 11000bt for a 32 page standard passport. I was asked to return in 7 days to pick up the old passport which I did. I asked the lady yesterday how long, about 8 weeks? She said they are much quicker now, maybe 4 or 5 weeks. Excellent service. The lady even filled the form in for me and I just had to sign. You also need to provide 2 passport photos. I would definitely recommend Thai Visa. -
Is the dealership insurance for a new car good enough?
cauldlad replied to Sandboxer's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I bought an MG 10 months ago which also included three years 'free' insurance. The first claim was for damaged paintwork which was my fault. Came to 40,00bt. The insurance guy came out looked at the car and authorised the repairs. I had to pay 1000bt excess. The second claim also damaged paintwork was not my fault. Again the insurance guy came out and authorised the repairs. This time there was no excess to pay ( presumably because it was not my fault) Those two claims were within the first eight months of the first year. I guess it depends on how good the insurance company is? I am sure after three years the renewal price will take into account these two claims and any other claims within this three year period. -

90 Day Report Online - How long pending?
cauldlad replied to ubonrthai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Did mine at the beginning of this month and it took ONE minute, I could not believe it. In the past it has taken around 3 to 4 hours. This is via Jomtien. -
I believe it is only for Thais

I did mine at Pattaya last year and as mentioned, you need an appointment on your first visit. I go to the clinic on Soi Buakhow for med cert. 100 bt. but all the clinics provide them. You will also need a residency certificate from Immigration. If my memory serves me correctly it cost 300bt. They said come back in one hour so I went in a bar further down the soi for a drink and when I returned it was ready.

Bank Codes and Immigration
cauldlad replied to StevieAus's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The long stay option was always there as far as I know. The point I was trying to make is it not 100% and Wise have confirmed that to me in writing. I agree everyone should have a back up plan in case you do not get the international transfer you may want. -
Bank Codes and Immigration

Not everyone using Wise requires it to show as an international transfer. I would suggest most people using Wise want the best rate, so are not bothered whether it shows as an international transfer or not. The only people who want it to show as an international transfer as those people using the income method for their extension. -

I queried this with Wise a couple of years ago about international transfers. Even if you use the long term stay option, Wise CANNOT guarantee that the payment will always show as an International transfer!! They sometimes use their local banks connection, hence it sometimes shows as a local transfer. It is purely pot luck imo. -
Pattaya police continue strict patrols on the beach

I was out walking along beach road just this morning around 6.30am. Plenty kids on the beach drinking and guess what? Not a cop in sight!! -

We got a new MG car and it was delivered on the 20th September. The finance girl caught covid and she told my wife all the paperwork is at the office. As soon as she is back to work she will send all the paperwork to my wife. It seems quite normal here in Thailand as far as I can see?? Anyway we have the car and all that is paid so far is the deposit so any issues they do not get anymore money. Having said that, they have been very professional since day one so I would be very surprised if there are any problems.

Does it make sense to check different car dealers?
cauldlad replied to plus7's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I have just bought an MG HS here in Pattaya. The car was delivered to my house in three days, including my choice of colour, which was grey. They gave me 25k discount off the deposit of 250k. They also gave me three years insurance, which costs around 25k a year for this model. A good deal imo.
