  1. Is there no cops in Pattaya? They say they gathet at the same place every night. Random body searches and alcohol / drug tests should do the trick
  2. I been taking the codefin for a week now, half a night....full pill works even better. I wake up about an hour later but much more inclined to stay in bed, roll over and go back to sleep so excellent result so far. Best thing I have tried. I have read that they lose their effect pretty quickly if you take them more than a couple of weeks. Are you taking them every night / have been for a while or do you give them a break? Appreciate your reply 🙂
  3. Unfortunately on a fasting diet so eating or drinking anything apart from water after 7 a no no
  4. I hallucinate all night with the weed here, even a small amount. Cookies even moreso lol
  5. Got a little Frenchie about 3 or 4 years old and last couple of years he gets scaly / scabby / crusty little lumps on his skin. Can pick them off like you would a scab. Probably only about 2 - 4mm. Been to the vets a few times now and he's been on 2 x 2 week courses of antibiotics which did seem to nearly eradicate the problem, but after it comes back again. We wash him in expensive medicated shampoo once a week from the vets. We live in a modern estate in the city away from livestock etc with only a small lawn and he's never exposed to other dogs. He's on a very expensive once a month full tick / flea / worm pill we got from the vets (he had this issue before starting the tick / worm pill) They have tested the skin for mites etc under a microscope and no sign of anything like that nor does he ever have tocks or fleas. I thought for a while maybe food allergy as he was occasionally having dried dog food but hes been off that for 3 months, only fresh stuff now and no improvement. We've also changed bedding from a cushion type thing to a hammock type dog bed with mesh / better air flow.... no difference. I sit and pick them off him of a night little black specks all over the floor. The fact that the antibiotics seemed to work would indicate some sort of bacterial thing but unfortunately he cant take antibiotics forever. It doesn't actually seem to give him a lot of discomfort, nor is it an obvious issue in any other way, I just feel sorry for him that it must be uncomfortable. The last time we went to the vet they said it is very common in foreign dogs here and we need to learn to live with it. Anyone had a similar experience or found a cure of sorts?
  6. Anyone know what days the bars will be closed Khon Kaen over the weekend? Looks like at the least tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday. Saturday? I got 4 nights to myself alone (Mrs going village) and at least 2 of them dead in the water already Just my effin luck. Every time my Mrs goes away, bars are shut 😞
  7. I got one of these yesterday for 90 baht, supposedly Japan. Only difference is mine is 6000 / 1000 but the white side is the fine (6000) side. As good as any stone I ever used and sharpened to a razor edge (and I mean shave hair off your arm easily). Only used water. Not sure how long it will last but first impressions unbelievable. I also have one of those Global ceramic water wheel sharpeners which are expensive but do a superb job. Edge never lasts longer than a week but given the treatment my wife gives our kitchen knives surprised they keep an edge that longi By the way, anyone wanting a very cheap but excellent set of knives, equivalent to Victorinox commercial knives, same steel mix apparently....Cutlery pro.... very hard to beat. I had a set of Zwillings (too heavy for me) I sold immediately after I tried these. 5 years on and still awesome. If you Google CUTLERY PRO you will find a few suppliers on Lazada, Shopee etc. Havent checked the prices lately but 8 / 10 inch chefs knife or butchers knife under 1000 baht. 5 years on still easy to sharpen and hold a keen edge, handle / joints as good as new and I use them semi commercially every day
  8. I always allow for the 2 months seasoning anyway, rather than go in and pick a fight with them as I have seen others do. No big deal for me. I despise Bkk bank. I have an account but main account now SCB, much easier getting letters etc. Bkk Bank make you feel like you should be bowing and scraping when you walk in the door. Never anyone has any clue of anything out of the norm, particularly relating to anything to do with foreigners...and rather than check and maybe even educate themselves they just fob you / tell you it can't be done. Reminds me of the level of service we used to get from any Aussie government department or Aussie banks back in the day, ANZ in particular back 10 years ago. Profit off your money, add fees for nearly everything and generally treat you like they are doing you a favor. I have been out of Australia for 10 years but probably still the same
  9. Hi all. Coming up to do my 12 month parental / parent of a Thai child extension in August. I've had this extension 6 years now and normally 400k in the bank 2 months before applying (even though technically you are only required to have the money in the bank the day you apply parental). I saw a video on Dan about Thailand the other day saying the law has changed and money in the bank for retirement visas / marriage visas now 4 months before applying? Does anyone know if this is correct and if parental visas will be effected? I don't know about other areas but our local immigration in large NE city never seems to have more than a few people waiting, if that anymore. Really does appear last couple of years, here at least expats are definitely leaving. Wonder why? Looks like tax laws, whether real or imagined was the last straw for some
  10. I remember back in the day doing nightbshift work. Out like a light as soon as my head hit the pillow. Sleep so soundly and deep, 3 or 4 hours was enough
  11. I think these type of things more to get you off to sleep initially, not long lasting effects to prevent waking up too early. I fall asleep easily but only sleeping around 4-5 hours a night, less sometimes
  12. Another very sound night sleep with the Codefin. Very mild but effective. I think I did wake up at 5am but went back to sleep for another couple of hours easily. No side effects in the morning. Be delighted if this keeps up. Will do it for a week and see if I can sleep naturally after that. Thanks all for the advice 🙂
  13. Try Codiphen mate. I only took my first haf pill last night and had best sleep Ive had in ages. Knowing, me may work for me one or two nights and then back to normal but so far so good. 45 baht a pack and avail over the counter any pharmacy. Worth a go. Did you see earlier posts someone recommending them?
  14. Got a hold of some Codiphen yesterday. As you said very cheap (45 baht pk 10) and available. Took half last night and seems to have been very effective. Woke up fresh about 6am (intentionally) as I had a few things to do but could have happily rolled over and went back to sleep 🙂 Had a solid 8 hours. These things have a tendency to work initially well with me for a couple of nights then I get used to them so will see how I go. I am a creature of habit and will wake up everyday within minutes of the same time so even if they trick my body clock into an extra hour or two of sleep I will be happy 🙂 Best thing about them no groginess when I woke up as so many of these treatments do to me. Thanks again so much for the advice
  15. I have a really expensive stone I use for fine work, but look for a decent all purpose whetsone for general kitchen knives etc. I have one I bought locally but a bit course and rough. Looking for a not too expensive one with the fine / course on either side Something off Lazada? Any recommendations / links appreciated
  16. Sounds good, are these available over the counter in Thailand? I have tried Chloraphenarimine, little cheap, yellow allergy pills the Thais take to sleep and they are effective but I am always groggy the next day. Horrible feeling like you are only half functioning. Bout 50 baht bottle of 100 lol
  17. Appreciate your help. Really I dont think anything is waking me up per se apart from my body clock. Room is dark and live in a very quiet estate. Air con on, nice comfy bed. And really going to bed an hour or 2 later to wake up an hour or 2 later is not really acheiving anything. Do appreciate you taking the time to help tho. Many thanks 🙏🙏
  18. Do often have a nap in the day Sheryl, 1 or 2 hours but usually wake up a little rough and sorry I did lol. If its quite normal for older people to sleep less I will stop worrying about it. Most of the time I feel like Ive had enough sleep and not drowsy through the day. And if I do feel a bit tired I'll have a nap. I been on a fasting diet for 6 months and eating a lot healthier, lost a lot of weight and have a lot more energy. May have something to do with it 🙂
  19. I tried a couple of different types of Canabis oils, didn't really help at all. I have no problem getting off to sleep initially, nor am I waking up intermittently. I need something will bring sleep for 7 or 8 hours. I have had days where I do a lot more exercise, swimming running atc and doesn't make a lot of difference. The sleep I have probably deeper but still only around 5-6 hours. Could it be, being older,...I only need 5 or so hours sleep a night?
  20. Last year or so had quite a bit of trouble getting a full night sleep, 62yo. Usually go to bed around 10-11pm, religiously wake up around 4.30am around 5-6 hours sleep. I have no trouble initially getting to sleep, just when I wake up early morning no chance of getting back to sleep again. Sometimes I might only get 2-3 hours. I eat fairly healthy, don't do a great deal of exercise but not sitting on my a$$ all day either, busy Mostly I am fairly fresh during the day, if not might catch a 1 hour nap. It seems like I only really need this amount of sleep and maybe just overthinking it. I have tried a few different pills and can sleep but wake up and feel groggy and listless for the rest of the day, so it kind of negates the purpose / cure is worse than the symptoms. Can anyone suggest anything or is this normal for an older guy?
  21. Anyone have any insight to this? I read a story the other day saying they are amending the new tax laws re overseas income. It didn't sound like much of a change at all but I have seen others post in other forums saying laws going back basically to they way it was and we will no longer be liable to pay tax. The only money I bring in from overseas is either savings or earned interest on superannuation, and already pay tax on that in Australia
  22. Nong bua seems to be the "hub" of violence in Thailand. Every other day
  23. Yes, I have online banking and the app on my phone. I thought at one stage they were saying they would do away with their website login as banking is more secure on phone app? Their app is terrible...Often crashes when scanning or doing transactions....need to restart the app. I would much rather do most things on the PC. Anyway, all done 😀 I transferred the whole lot (200k THB) in one go no problems at all. Thanks everyone for your help
  24. Been trying to transfer $100k THB to my other Thai bank (SCB) since last night with no success. I then remembered about the rules they changed a year or more ago where you could only transfer a minimum amount without registering facial recognition at the branch. Back then I did actually try to register, waited in a queue, mucked around with them for 30 minutes only to be told face recognition wasn't available for foreigners. Back then some people were saying they registered successfully, others had issues at the branch. I also remember there was a max amount you could transfer without needing facial recognition....I thought it was 50k THB but it wouldn't let me transfer that amount either without face recog. So my questions... What is the max you can transfer with Bkk bank without face recognition? Have they sorted out their issues with registering face recognition for foreigners yet or still a no go? And typical of Bkk banks medieval app, when the app asks you to place your face in the frame, you can't do it with glasses on....which makes sense. However....the issue then is the app asks you to perform a couple of things...blink three times, open your face whatever the feck that means...and I can't see shet without my reading glasses! I got my son to stand behind me and tell me what they are asking for me to do but it times out much too quickly. Was a waste of time anyway as I am obviously not registered for FR anyway
