  1. I see the occasional used Landcruiser and Prado pop up for sale, sometimes at a very low price for 2010-2015 model. Generally never see them much unless they are Laos registered vehicles. I was wondering if its because there is some legal restriction or huge yearly / transfer tax on these sort of vehicles? I ma guessing they are imports...Last one I saw was a 3 liter Diesel Prado. Can anyone shed any light on this?
  2. Buying a couple of these for kids for Xmas, may even get one for myself. Trimui smart plus and Anbernic 40XX H Will probably receive the game units tomorrow, 64gb loaded with games. I have never used on of these devices nor know anything about them, Would appreciate any help, compete newb I assume you can download extra games. Just wondering where and how? Is there a website / websites to download? Is it free? Do you need to load games specific to your brand device or do these emulators all run the same games (within device capability)? This is supposed to be able to run some PSP / N64 games (but not the best), depends on the game apparently. Is it ok to download some and try or will it crash the drive or something? To back up the card that comes with the device can I simply copy the files off the SD card onto my computer? If I wanted to D/L more games and the 64gb card is full, do I just get another card and put in slot 2 or is it better to just get say a 128gb card and have them all on the one card Many thanks in advance, sorry if they are stupid questions....really know nothing of these devices
  3. Hi all. Been wanting to try a drone for ages but not willing to shell out a lot of money. Its more of a toy than anything. Doesn't have to be steller video...decent would be good. More interested in something to start off with, learn to fly it and something easy / pretty fail safe re crashes. There are a squllion of them on Lazada from 200 baht upwards and Lazada has got so bad now its nearly unusable. Bought 2 products this week had 500+ positive ratings and both were in the bin within 10 mins of opening the package. The Chinese must have armies of paid reviewers or something these days. Anyway, like I said more of a toy than anything so not willing to waste a lot of money on something may end up in a creek.....is it possible to buy something usable under 2000 - 3000 baht or would I just be wasting my money? Any recommendations welcome if someone knows of something suitable preferably owns one
  4. I know how to remap on Windows but it only remaps your Laptop / built in keyboard. It wont do third party keyboards unfortunately. In this case the origin of the keyboard is very relevant as the Japanese layout is different and has about 10 more keys. I will try another forum though it isn't a huge deal for me as it is working fine on the Ipad and that's predominantly what I bought it for. I was being a cheapskate getting a used Japanese bargain basement magic 2 keyboard for 800 baht lol. Now I know why it was so cheap. Anyway, like I said works fine on Apple so not stressed. Thanks for your help
  5. Long shot here but give it a whirl. I bought an apple magic keyboard (Japanese / English) off marketplace for my Ipad. Works a treat. As a bonus I was hoping to use it with my PC but many of the shift / symbol keys in different areas to whats shown on the keyboard. Mainly symbols above the numbers (+, ( , ) ,* etc etc. When I connect to the Ipad it actually asks if I want to use it in Japanese or English layout. Selecting English works perfectly on the Ipad. Just wondering if someone knows of a setting or something I can change on the Windows PC to make it recognize the keyboard correctly. Yes its Japanese English, yes I am an idiot, yes buyer beware, pay peanuts get monkeys etc etc. No motherly advice please, just someone that may have a solution thanks 🙂
  6. Well it is an Apple Keyboard albeit using with a Windows PC and the forum is Apple products. One each way bet really and you know good old Asean Now, someone will be along to tell you you are in the wrong forum no matter where you post 🙂 I will give it another day here, cancel the post and try the general computer area. I doubt I will get an answer anyway really....strange question generally

  8. I can answer all of those questions but in this case will refrain on some issues. A lot more to the story than I can discuss in an open forum. He was working off shore FIFO so no need for a yearly visa. He came home unexpectedly and you can guess what (or who) he discovered going on in his home. She bailed, he got left with the kids. He currently has a tourist visa and several (too many) extensions already. I'm not really sure how hes been doing it but in and out then extending that out as far as possible then repeat again. Think he has gotten away with it three times, maybe more. I have been telling him for 9 months get the kids citizenship and passports sorted out as I have been through all this stuff myself. Not sure on the visa exempt, or what that means? He doesn't even seem sure of anything himself and in all honesty through lack of getting in front of the problem pretty much only himself to blame...but unfortunately 2 very small children involved. Hes had ample time to get the kids passports, citizenship back home...all that sort of stuff but continues to procrastinate. I fear he may be at the end of his luck. If he cant get this visa he has 60 days to get them passports, visas and get them sorted out to leave the country, which may or may not be enough time. The 60 day entry he got yesterday could possibly be the O visa? I am not even sure he has his court custody papers in order if in fact that's what they are and not just an agreement with his ex wife that the kids can live with him but both still maintain joint custody. Obviously hes one of these people doesn't check anything and hopes for the best. He says he has full custody but I have my doubts. I told him exactly what may happen and he could become separated from the kids if he runs out of time which he refuses to believe anyone or government would do. He will find out tomorrow if he can reapply for the support of a Thai child extension or he has to start making arrangements to go home.
  9. Got a mate here been left with two near babies (wife scarpered). They were married and he has already done the full custody thing through the courts so no issue about paternity. Hes been living here on tourist visas and border hops for far too long and things are becoming urgent so this is a genuine asking for a friend question. He has his hands full and seemingly terrible at organizing anything or paper work so trying to help him out. He engaged the service of a visa agent who claimed she would sort out the O (or OA?) visa and from there get all the parental visa sorted. Hes 42 so cant get a retirement visa. Was a surprise to me as I've had a parental visa for 5 years and had to jump through quite a few hoops to get it. I did mine all by myself. She called him yesterday to say she put in the application but was rejected yesterday because the officers came to his home to interview him and his 2 or 3 witnesses / sponsors and he should have brought them to the IO. Not sure how that works as it was IO who suggested they come to his home so if there was a mistake it was theirs. Immigration admitted they made a mistake but said head office issue. Anyway, none of it making much sense and he is starting to wonder if he is being taken for a ride. I have no idea about O or OA visas apart from I originally got an OA visa from Australia which I later extended for retirement, then converted to parent as I also have a Thai child. He has been told he needs to get an O visa, which she also said she would organize but he has to go out of the country and back in again to get. Is that how it works? OA visa from your home country....O visa from a 3rd party country consulate or something? I remember when I got my OA visa I basically got a year....which I actually ended up getting near 2 years by leaving and re entering just before the end of the 12 months. Is an O visa the same ie 12 months? He has been told O visa for 3 months then extension as a parent visa. I said to him today well she would need the O visa sorted out before applying for the parent visa or do they do the lot at the same time ie you have to qualify for the parent visa and jump through all the hoops, application etc before starting the O visa process? Not sure what he needs to do now, looks like start the whole process again. I think he wrongly assumed the agent would do some magic but its more of a hand holding thing where he is still going to have to supply all the required photos, docs etc. Can anyone advise what the O visa / extension to parent process is? Does what he is being told sound right?
  10. I turned up this morning 9.15, not a soul in the place. Had my form and copies of 6 or 7 things signed and dated. She just looked at all those and pushed them aside (I'm guessing for the round file), brought my details up on the PC and printed the next due report sheet off. In and out under 5 minutes....pretty much as reported. Makes me wonder if many foreigners have left Thailand. When I did my extension last time also only a couple of people there. Used to be so busy
  11. I answered that many posts ago. Khon Kaen
  12. I also never got a reminder and usually do
  13. Hi all, been doing my 90 days reports online now for at least 3 years. I just renewed my parental extension and did my first online 90 days after the extension was done. It got rejected twice with a note saying report in person. My friend told me that if they don't renew your 90 days at the time of the extension the first 90 day report you do after the extension will be rejected and you need to report in person. Is that correct? If my memory serves me correctly the last few years they did renew my 90 days at extension time whether it was due or not. So just wondering of someone can refresh my memory apart from filling out the form and a copy of my passport, extension stamp and last entry slip....is there anything else I need to take?
  14. I don't suppose you can turn off the general speech to text function and just use the basic spoken commands to navigate back and forth....home page, go back etc? Other issue I have is I participate in live online auctions, where I need to send a bid so have to have the comment section open. Problem is it also records the persons speech talking on the live auctions speech lol. Or the TV sometimes in the background if I have a text window or message open. The auction I can get around it using headphones of course
  15. Funny you mention that lol. I thought those commands you can use in accessibility were only the general commands...Go home, Go back etc. Which work great. I didn't realize you could also dictate messages etc with them. I was just finishing off a message to someone last night, just before I looked down and saw many expletives in my reply. I was swearing a blue streak at the TV or something and didn't realize it would appear in my message hahahaha
  16. Such an easy and obvious fix lol. Thank you so much! Works a treat
  17. You used to be able to somewhat judge a cheaper manufacturer by the screens they were using as most of the cheaper companies bought screens from Phillips, Sharp, Panasonic etc. I remember Philips being very highly praised. Basically assemble other larger manufacturers cheaper components. Not sure what the deal is now or even how an LED / OLED etc even works. My last TV also Samsung and while it lasted 7 or 8 years there were constant issues, one of which where LED bulb covers randomly falling off which leave bright spots here and there. Was expensive to get fixed too and an ongoing problem. It had other smaller issues too with connectivity....didn't seem to integrate well with other accessories. We got the life out of it but were nursing it the whole time
  18. You are a peanut. A hissy fit? All of these broad statistics and information (without facts) you quote you must think makes you appear to be "in the know" right? I have fiber internet in a said rural area, 400km away from Bkk, 20km out of town, and last place I lived had fiber which was even more remote. You are just talking a LOT of HS and making these huge statements as fact that just aren't true. Suggesting someone should have spent 100k with a company with this sort of attitude is ludicrous. The same thing could have happened only the minimum service call would have been 30k-50k. The problem with the way the world is going is where everything is obsolete or unfashionable after a year, with people like you espousing anything under 100k THB is the product of corporate brain washing. It wasn't a high end TV at 10k but from a company like Samsung for a lower end TV I expect less features and performance....not self destruction after a year...coincidentally 2 months out of warranty. Almost like it was planned. Look at phones some these days over 40k and irrespective of the working condition of the phone it will be unusable within 3-5 years due to lack of security updates etc. I am sure companies like electrical appliance manufacturers are groping around for ways to do the same with other appliances. Electric cars will be another example of a limited lifespan for a major purchase. Other problem with people like you being happy to be ripped off because minimum service cost 6000 baht is comparable to the west just demonstrates what a fool you are. Do you realize what percentage a company tech would be receiving out of that 6000 baht? He would be lucky if he got 300-500 baht personally for the call. We are not in Europe or the States...This is Thailand. You talk about all the satisfied customers in Thailand when there are a considerable amount of people just in this thread with similar stories. If I was doing a poll (sampling) I would say it is a horrible reflection. But somehow you seem to have this inside knowledge of all these happy customers in Thailand....somehow. Hundreds of thousands of Samsung Televisions are sold in Thailand and relatively few manufacturing defects are reported. When they are, they typically show up within the first 90 days of use. Where do you get this sort of information from or are you from Samsung?
  19. Nothing like that. Just watching TV and lost picture, still had sound. The tech said when he pulled it apart part of the backlight had blown. Not sure if a component or chip or what but he said caused some sort of burn mark
  20. My thoughts exactly. I will be looking for warranty over anything else in future. 3 years at least. If after three years it goes on the fritz I'll chuck it and buy another. My current TV is 4k and I use standard settings on it. I don't like the appearance of the 4k anyway.
  21. Victim blaming at its best 5555. What a complete and utter load of clap trap. You forgot I might have spilt beer all over it, Thai ghosts have possessed it etc etc. The TV was purchased new in the box. Never been moved or abused in any way. Normal use. How do you deem annoyance at a product 2 months out of warranty and then clear extortion / ransom to fix it of more than 60% of the new purchase price as "emotional". It's clearly wrong and seem to be many examples of same. Have a look at some of the reviews on their products / phones last few years exactly the same sort of stuff. I live in NE rural Thailand....we have cable internet speeds up to 1000mbs. This wont run a TV? I was under the impression Thailand has some of the fastest reliable internet in the world. A long meaningless diatribe of drivel designed to big note yourself. Also I too have had many Samsung products over the last 15 years....Still have a washing machine and LED TV that had lasted for the first 10 years I have been here (obviously heat / humidity never effected it) and only replaced it recently with the said item in question. In fact any TV or appliance I have had in the last 30 years, Samsung / others have been extremely reliable and long lasting. It seems this is no longer the case.
  22. All the wrong reasons? Id say a major failure after 14 months and then extortion by the manufacturer, with many other reports of the same are pretty good reasons to hate
