What scandal? He only borrowed them didn't he. The wonderfully diligent NACC will give him the all clear once those pesky watch companies eventually decide to stop giving the NACC the run around. Remember guys, if you borrow stuff from friends, just make sure to send the stuff back after they die.......
But seriously, what the actual <deleted>.... How is this fat slob still even working, he is an abomination

This is stupid, so she admitted to being a part of moving money and buying houses for her brother who could not say where the money came from, yet her lawyer is saying she has done nothing wrong.
The bail system in Thailand is utterly ridiculous, she should be in jail, as the others who were involved in this enormous scam should be, once this story fades into obscurity the wrists will be very lightly slapped and the ill gotten money carved up for god knows who. Dreadful form again

Prawit is a bona fide idiot, we all know that much, but at what point is anybody actually going to do anything at all? Do Thai people even understand this, or care. It has gone well, well beyond pathetic now and yet the Thais en masse still sit on their backsides not even caring.
I guess am wrong though for expecting more to be done. Sad as can be

Hogwash. People are likely doing it tougher than ever. And the nonsense tourist figures and revenues are not even worth getting started on.
As for the infrastructure projects. Most of it is still in the planning or construction phase, and as such can't be properly attributed to any real economic benefits just yet

As a Brit here I don't feel overlg at risk compared to many other places. Generally speaking though I have enough smarts and experience here to just about keep me out of bother.
That said, luck and good timing also play just an important a role imo.
The roads are the riskieat part of the whole thing, and generally speaking, the range of the activities available here not only make it such a wonderful place to visit but also open up a traveller to a whole host of extra dangers both clear and less obvious

With the sheer amounts of money being talked about here, and the plaintiff being stuck in Finland, and the bank accounts with no names attached with multiple millions of usd in, my guess is that this bloke they just bailed has already bolted to an ill gotten life of luxury abroad. Scandalous.
Also a scary amount of intellect demonstrated by the Finnish guy, obviously should know that holding bitcoins is the way to go, and that Thais are hardly bastions of prudent investment advice. A whole lot of facepalming going on right now that's for sure

Completely agree. Then and now I could see merits and arguments in both sides.
However, the UK government has simply not been firm enough in its attempts to get anything like a good deal for the UK. The EU heirachy haven't given an inch despite the UK population voting on leaving, they as a bloc seem hellbent on punishing the people for voting out
I personally think it's no use either way. Genie is out of the bottle. Man up and get out and be done with it.
Of course it'll be turbulent for a while, but surely another vote or nothing really changes is simply a non-starter

One only has to understand who appointed the bulk of the NLA members to see whose interests are being pushed here; more delays, however spurious the reasons are only going to embolden the NLA and the myriad of other agencies linked to them to persist with other such actions in the future.
And then the coup de grace is more and more time for the NCPO to do its thing and continue to campaign (on the pretense of conducting mobile cabinet meetings) for the election which will be held only once all the NCPO's ducks are in a row (read it can't possibly lose or cede power in any meaningful way)

This is utterly ridiculous, if I remember correctly the firms involved in the multi billion dollar corruption scandal in Klong Dan were recently fined around 6000 baht each for such heavy losses to the state, while this guy is fined 1 million for defaming a cop who appears to have some very dubious associations / loyalties.
Also factor in how many times acts of gross violence and recklessness on the roads and in the public space a fine of around 500 to 1000 baht is given. Another glaring example of why Thailand's legal system is an absolute abomination in its present state

I'd trust any person in the Thai legal system less than i'd trust a fart after a vindaloo.
They've hardly got form for integrity have they.. Another load of $#it in the offing ?

Well, seeing as they'll be without Japan's highly competent and highly diligent police force, and that the drivers on the roads will still be Thai nationals driving akin to the criminally insane, I am not holding out much hope for this venture. Would give an easter egg a run for its money in the hollowness stakes, sigh

Absolute scumbag c#☆t woman should be in chains for this. And as for the cops assembling a crack team to haul this guy in while allowing the wealthy to simply pop in at their convenience for much more serious charges that are not based on hearsay.
Hope the guy sues all involved, and the woman is locked up asap

And here it is Thailand, your booby prize of a PM for the next 20 years.
However bad it is that he goes off like a firecracker with absolutely minimal provocation, it does at least provide some comic relief.
Fool, pure and simple. Pathetic

Just pathetic, these idiot spokespeople trot out the same nonsense time after time about people expressing a different view as "distorting facts" or "causing public panic" or "harming the economy". It is a shame really that there are seemingly so many Thais who simply don't care how awful this kind of oppression looks, and it is sad because there are many who by not making a stand now will start to complain in years coming that their freedoms have all disappeared and that there will be nothing they can do to actually change anything.
I think the worst bit about the story above though was that the spokesman defended multiple coups as " just trying to work and find solutions to bring stability and peace to the country". What kind of cretin can say something like that and expect anything other than complete contempt! Dreadful

This is appalling. The law is certainly in the public interest and in line with Danish customs and values i'd guess.
The fact these people feel aggrieved by it is simply too bad. Muslims around the world get by without having to cover their faces while still wearing appropriate religious dress.
I hope the Danish public's backlash against this group's bleating is swift and damning

So taking nearly 3 quarters of a million dollars in corruption will only get you fired from your job (for probably not sharing it), while people are being locked up for sharing news articles, selling pirate cd's, and picking mushrooms. What a farce of a system they've got in place. Dreadful

This sounds very airy fairy, and some of it very out of sync with the generalized Thai mindset. I can't see the average Thai wishing to cut back on consumer spending, as face and impulsiveness tend to rule above all else. I hope the dietary habits improve as many Thais have access to some amazing food at their fingertips, but never seem willing to make anything themselves and allow vendors to lace it with all kinds of additives and sweeteners.
Exercise habits from what I have seen personally are way better than only a few years ago. Indoor venues are needed though as the climate is horrendous for many and not ideal for those getting into exercise routines as a newbie

This is the best plan at least 3 grown up people could come up with.
And a satisfactory figure assuming the plan worked as expected only 60k THB.
Jesus weapt. Stupidity of this calibre is VERY hard to fathom

Not another story like this, for christ sake. The guy is a neandarthal and for a list of reasons as long as our collective arms he is absolutely UNSUITABLE to even be involved in politics. As said above, if Thais vote for this fool, they deserve their servitude and vastly unjust, inequal society that will certainly follow

While I feel for this lady I am also at a loss to figure out what the hell she was thinking. Surely a loan guarantor should be someone who is blood related or an incredibly close and trusted family friend of the person taking the loan.
I am a teacher, and some of the students I have taught over the course of my career have been wonderful people, however if any of them were to ask me to guarantee their student loans I (even in my wettest behind the ears days) would have probably laughed in their faces and said that it is no way my duty or responsibility to do such a thing.
And this woman has guaranteed 60 that we know of. Absolutely foolish in the extreme

Gets tiresome to see this knuckle dragger dominating the news day in, day out with stories of how through his own bufoonery he is disgracing the post of Prime Minister, and lets be honest, the country itself.
The scariest bit is he isn't going away, and once the rigged election is over he'll be even more emboldened (read more stupidity prone) than ever.
Try as I might, I can't think of any genuine redeeming features, none. Can anyone else, because it is nice to see the best in people isn't it

This would be quite a nice story if it A, didn't feel so staged. B, was in the boys' best interests at this moment in time, and C, if Thai Buddhism and temples were actually tenets of true Buddhism and not so tainted by graft, greed, and sin.
The temple in question is going to be drowning in merit money, and the question has to be asked who is going to be pocketing it.

Am almost speechless. Look in the mirror you fools, it isn't the tourists who have by and large zero environmental consciousness is it!
It is the locals, and local businesses that use and abuse plastic in far greater numbers who are almost exclusively to blame for the problem.
The authorities aren't tough enough or diligent enough to alter the Thai population's behaviour. And nor have they ever been.
You are reaping as a nation what you as a nation have sown. Dragging foreigners in as culprits is a total disgrace ?

Or here is a better idea, don't take out loans unless they are absolutely necessary, and be damn sure that you read the small print before you sign up. These people (mostly) are neandarthals and deserve all the problems they're having.
The lady mentioned at the end was 9 million baht in debt, yet the house that the loan was taken to cover is now only worth 1.8 million baht.
Yes, sure there are 2 loans merged into 1. But what the <deleted> are these morons buying to justify taking out such huge loans. Pathetic

Just lucky for you people here generally don't give a flying one, or are too stupid to know, or just happy to take some money to overlook it. Smart Thais and those with even an ounce of common sense can see you for the corrupt and immoral dog you are.
I can only imagine the amounts this guy has milked off the state, utterly reprehensible person, undeniable.
