Just dreadful. Thoughts are with those who haven't made it.
If the driver is found to have caused the accident, and done a runner (as yet unconfirmed) then i just hope he gets a stiffer sentence than the meth head who caused similar carnage got last month

I smell another "honest cab driver returns bag containing 1000s of (insert currency name here) to forgetful tourist" story not too far away. Or are we going to have a flurry like we did last month I wonder.........

Absolutely and utterly ridiculous attempt to shift the blame to world class manufacturers, many of whose products are rigorously tested, especially for their ability to brake suddenly and safely.
The crux of the problem very much is dreadful driving standards across the board, consistent speeding and inattention to potential hazards and a flat out disregard for the law regarding helmet use.
These apologist idiots really need to give their collective heads a shake. Pathetic

Absolutely horrific. It's bad enough that people get so desperate that they turn to actions like this, but absolutely heart wrenching that young kids are the innocent victims.
What a terrible, terrible tragedy

The NACC think by pulling this outrageous BS stunt that they've pacified the issue, I think that WHEN this whole business is actually proved to be a cover up (that no rational person could argue) that some serious repurcussions will ensue.
Eradication of corruption efforts under the NACC from here on in (under any circumstances / on any sides) will have absolutely no merit whatsoever. They've completely shattered whatever reputation they might have had after this. It's just so pathetic and wrong. Utterly shameful

A disgrace, this story is like the Premchai one, the culpability is absolutely blatant and beyond question. The flat out lies and denials don't have anybody fooled. The NACC is a pathetic, pitiful entity that isn't fit to hold such a title.
This fat slug will have his day, as will those who are involved in this dreadful charade

I would be skeptical that he is qualified to even formulate a battle plan for soldiers in a time of war, as the rank of general here is a somewhat loose term.. But on a more relevant note, this article is bang on

Well considering how long Vorayuth Yoovidhya's blood test relating to his episode of appalling driving took to come back as "nobody even knows yet", I have my doubts about how wise this 69 million baht scheme is.
Frankly it looks stupid, and that they are trying to reinvent the wheel here to justify some soundbites and have a nibble at that big juicy 69 million baht cherry

21 minutes ago, Thailand said:Really, never thought of that.
And the generals response would likely be another coup when the bickering parties can't agree on anything in the unlikely event of them winning.
Absolutely right mate, the new army chief has already said publicly that a coup isn't out of the question during his watch. Any dithering or unrest caused by power squabbles after what promises to be a pretty shambolic election will likely be squashed under the boot of another coup, citing national security or some other such nonsense reason.
I just can't see these parties compromising (even if it is in the name of the greater good), no entity likes to be subservient here, and especially when power and time at the trough are at stake.

Somewhat sensible proposal. But how enforceable, what restrictions are in place (and how to overcome them), and how rife for abuse this requirement will be is what i would be most concerned about at this stage.
This will likely drive people away if it is enforced too rigidly, and more importantly if people can't afford the cover required

Well I know whose account am going to believe. Tourists simply don't go out of their way to cook up stories to bash the Thai tourism sector now do they.
Surely they should have pressed for more info about the rogue taxi operator and set about bringing them to task

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that these reports won't be without substance.
Even the Thai tv news has been running stories questioning the extraordinarily expensive food served (300k baht).
I expect the usual denials, just hoping some leaks emerge to throw some scandal on what appears to be a very shady outfit indeed

Oh for christ sake. Was I stupid to think they wouldn't try to blame the victim.
Absolutely ridiculous reasoning again from this utter shower of an outfit

This donkey behind the wheel wasn't trying to flee, only took him 3km to stop.
Serious question, but is hit and run even a crime here?
RIP to the victim even if his driving certainly contributed to the outcome

I just dont get it with so many beautiful women in this coutry and your lady wants to be with another man just move on and do the same , why do something that will put you in prison for a long time just really stupid .
It's not about that, it's the face (battered ego) that motivates Thais (mainly male) to exact such brainlessly stupid revenge attacks like this.
Hope the lad in the ICU recovers and the attacker hauled in and has the book thrown at him

Horrendous. This 1 surely can't be a misunderstanding like usual. This cop, when found, should be taken to the nearest tree.
RIP to the victim, feel terrible for his gf

About time.. But unless people are free to speak out and debate the mismanagement and incompetence of the NCPO's tenure (constructively of course), then I suspect it won't be much different.
But if it will be free, it is a step in the right direction

This topic has been done to death, but unless the Thai people show their disdain for the military affiliated parties at the election they really have no recourse to complain about their lot. Prayuth's agenda, and his lack of integrity have been clear to see for a very long time now, anyone who can't or refuses to see it are just plain dumb or in serious denial.
Cambodia fixed their election already this year, the international community has done NOTHING except a few small, short lived moans about it, now its business as usual. Thailand's current rulers will probably look to emulate exactly that

Vandalizing a police station is not a wise move. I would recommend he be deported back to Bahrain to face trail there for his misdeeds. He can always travel to Australia after he served his due punishment for the vandalism back in his native country. As far as Thailand is concerned, good relations with Bahrain should come before the needs of this one man. The whole idea of running away from your bad behavior and expecting to be able to hide for ever is a non starter, and sets a terrible precedent to other would-be vandals.
That's assuming he did in fact do it, which in a country with, lets say, a questionable judicial system, I certainly have my doubts,
Further to this, I am guessing the Australian authorities did their homework on his background before allowing this lad to resettle there. The fact that the Thais and Bahrainis are being cagey about just why he was pulled in on an expired red notice (not even linked to his Australian papers either btw) shows that some ulterior motives are likely at play here.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the 12 day detention is to let the heat die down, and then send him back to Bahrain claiming some kind of due process. Bahrain is a huge foreign partner for Thailand, it employs many thousands of Thai citizens, and we all know money trumps everything here.

If you're talking of punishing e-cig users and (apparently) fake news sharers with 10 years inside, then you really have to wonder why slapping imbeciles like this with double the punishment is such a bad move.
Lowest of the low, human garbage in all its pitiful glory ????

If what the man in the frame for murder says is true, then fair dinkum, he didn't shoot and it sounds like he choked the victim out to what he thought was only unconsciousness (and actually not to death).
I personally would have broken the intruder's legs (blaming it on the stairway fall), but in the heat of the moment when you feel your life could actually be in danger I think he was more than entitled to do what he did (if that was what in fact hapened)

I read a whole lot of repackaged ideas, and lots of things that to a seasoned graft monger are rife for some skimming, example free school meals (quality reduced and budget skimmed), funds provided for students pre uni (just don't give to them, the same as with the destitute), better equipment purchases (book scams, tablet scams, uniform scams).
Call me cynical, but the best thing I can think of is to actually have a merit based system of performance set up for both students and teachers that is less corruptible than now, but I doubt it'll even be mentioned in any meetings these lot have.

This guy is an even worse BS monger than Sanserm, and that in itself is scary. The international community in general don't say things bluntly as per diplomatic protocol, I can't think of a single country's president that even criticised the likes of Hun Sen or Rodrigo Duterte by name.
Money and smooth waters are all that matter on a diplomatic front unfortunately, and if the west would punish Prayuth and his band of reprobates, then China is omnipresent closer to home anyways

Pathetic putting a man of Prawit's repute in a position like this. He is utterly loathed (and with good reason), and this ghastly theme of making him look like a man with the poorest people's interests at heart shouldn't fool any of them, but it certainly won't harm his chances of clawing some kind of image back.
This simply isn't appropriate with an election being supposedly on the horizon. Despicable form to be perfectly honest

Moron, her deal is an abomination. The sooner it gets booted for good, the better.
A no deal is a far more helpful scenario than it would be under the terms of her dreadfully constructed deal
