Same shit different day.. Best get 1 of those "driver returns xxx000 baht to forgetful passenger" stories in the news quick time.
And the cabbie in question must get his 2000 baht and best wai / apology ready before his upcoming temporary inactive posting

Surely let the customer decide what kind of taxi they wish to use.
I personally would prefer a service where the fare is transparent and honest (no flat fares and off meter nonsense), and also electric vehicles that pollute less are something that must be encouraged now and forever more

It is sad that the dogs died in agony. But the top and bottom of it is that these dogs were not well kept or trained in any meaningful way.
Soi dogs are a menace, these sorts of cases will continue as long as the mai pen rai culture persists around packs of dogs merely being an accepted part of the urban landscape

We can only hope they pursue this nut with the same zeal in which they did those "fake" koh tao news mongers who've been lifted recently.
Any less than 2 days to snare this slob and it's a farce tbf.
Bail in cases of premeditated murder is absolutely abhorrent too. Public protection from these types should be upheld by the authorities as a matter of necessity

And yet no mention of what charges the driver is likely to face, or of anybody in authority denouncing such dreadful actions.
Thai roads, another day another $#it show

Utterly pathetic. No real investigation, although why would there be when the aim was clearly to protect an image that doesn't really exist (that Koh Tao is a safe and well policed tourist spot).
All we see here is a half baked bunch of theories thrown together in a way that is designed to discredit an alleged rape victim.
It's very disturbing that it appears victim shaming was the aim from the get-go.
The girl's story did have some quite peculiar parts to it, but as she has yet to personally clarify any of it, it's simply reprehensible for the cops here to dismiss out of hand, and go after people who are reporting on it from countries with strong freedom of speech protections.
Farcical.

Inspirational thinking considering its 2018, and prostitution has been a trade practiced pretty much since the dawn of mankind.
Legalize it, ban it, hide it, or put it on every street corner. Just be crystal clear, and open about what is and isn't permissible. Whatever the authorities do in future has to be preferable to the system now where many of the raids and stings set up are outright immoral in both their scope and execution

When these highly unethical and corrupt cliques do inevitably crumble I hope the harshest of fates to befall those orchestrating such diabolical abuses right now.
The Aussie govt needs to grow a spine and condemn this in the strongest possible terms, but as Khmer money rolls in to Oz and they are cozy on diplomatic terms nothing will even be said.
This is a disgusting miscarriage of justice

Well when dishonesty, incompetence, and outright criminality seem to embody all ranks of the force both inside and outside of this world class family resort am not gonna hold my breath on this.
The only thing you can almost bank on them doing is whitewashing and walking around with their hands out around this time of any given month

Absolute scumbag <deleted>. I am no white knight and believe that a person should be allowed to defend themselves against a man or a woman, however as the altercation was not really beyond the grappling stage, and that bottling somebody who isn't even in a position to defend themselves is a dog act of the highest order.
The fact that he has come out with a shitty apology of sorts to anyone except the victim is moot. Should be jailed and fined HEAVILY. And yes i have seen both videos of this incident before anyone chirps up in this idiot's defence

More populist spin from this buffoon to craft some wonderful image of him as wanting to side with the downtrodden.
But how many locals will see through the facade I wonder......

Obviously there is boot licking, but this is pure gutter level conduct.
OK so he's fat, he's bald, he's a bully, he's a proven serial liar, he's got very limited compassion, he's very unusually wealthy etc etc...
I can't think of 1 redeeming feature, can anyone else?
The people behind the page probably couldn't even spell shame let alone feel it.. <deleted>

Well am sure all will be revealed if the political ban is lifted and the election date is set and campaigning of sorts will be allowed, I anticipate something similar to the charter referendum. Regardless this sham election when it happens will be a total fix

Well when the majority choose to follow their own rules and whims as standard practice, and while quite an unhealthy amount of others choose to drive like the criminally insane at all times, then it doesn't matter what measures you put in because it is going to be the same highly inefficient, highly corruptible police on the frontline overseeing it all.
The general public are right with their assertions. The enforcement and legal steps at all levels simply aren't robust enough for standard practice to vastly so soon.. Would take years, and even then the psyche of the enforcers won't change too much from now

1 hour ago, Samui Bodoh said:"...The commander of the 31st Infantry Regiment (King’s Guard) in Lop Buri province admitted that he had failed to properly supervise his subordinates..."
Out of curiosity, what discipline will he face for his negligence? Doesn't the Commander have responsibility for the actions of his subordinates? It seems the Thai army has an odd system whereby the higher you rise in rank, the fewer real responsibilities you have... weird.
"...resulting in a “three to one” fight that landed Private Khacha Chapa in the ICU earlier this week..."
A 'three to one' fight? Forgive my naivete, but I have always read that the single most important characteristic of a good soldier was honour. How is it honourable to have a 'three to one' fight?
The Thai army moves in mysterious ways... it is almost like they aren't designed to defend their homeland at all...
Hmm...
Defending the homeland, when was the last time they actually had to do that. The amount of friendly fire (for want of a better expression) deaths inflicted on locals far outnumbers foreign combatants by now. It is far from being an honourable institution from what I can see, way too much scandal gone on to come to any other sensible conclusion.

Actually ridiculous. The unnamed sources do appear to have vastly more credibility (read integrity) than the highest ranking soldier in the land.
Some of the whoppers dropped in this brief story alone are incredible. What a horrendous outfit.

6 minutes ago, sjaak327 said:Well whilst they can technically vote him out, the constitution, the senate and the 20 year roadmap ensures he will still be pulling the strings in the background. Of course he must know that eventually that traditional dominion as you call it will disappear. It is only a matter of time, and I don't think it will take 20 years, not in this day and age. The elite's dominion is nearing to an end.
I hope you're right, but I can't quite see how it is coming to an end unfortunately. Nobody in this country (aside from a few brave students and activists) can see Prayuth for what he is yet and / or don't really care too much about the dire situation the country is in.
The army have form for crushing any internal resistance, and they have managed to whityewash everything to this point somehow, I can't see what has changed, or how it will change, sadly.

A complete non-event. With all the naughtiness and outright criminality going on in Pattaya each day it can only be said that this venture is utterly farcical and unnecessary.
There was a murder in soi 6 a few months back and reportedly the Pattaya court has sentenced the killer to a 2 year suspended prison sentence, and they worry how some people getting close at a pool party will damage the city's reputation. Smh

And we'll never know whose anal cavity this steaming pile was pulled from. But with so many businesses in tourist towns struggling or closing, one really has to wonder where all these tourists are going, and how beneficial for the local economy they actually are.

This is stupid, he still hasn't talked about why 2 million dollars has turned up into his bank accounts has he, not a victim, just another crook caught in the act. The fact he is more interested in saving his reputation than assisting the investigators (delaying the meetings and using an intermediary) shows he knows he is not clean and his story won't stack up.
But as he is rich and will have many rich friends and associates, I think it is safe to assume that this particular crook won't be seeing any jail and maybe not even any police stations.

Talked to a number of my students about it, and they all say it is a horrendous system in terms of its complex nature, high costs, lack of flexibility, and seeming over complication of everything. You can only despair as the people behind such monstrous schemes simply don't care or want to listen as they see such things as their very own prestige project of uber-high importance.
The MoE is still run by military buffoons and some appointed technocrats, it's an abomination and simply nowhere near fit for purpose

Another misunderstanding, BS pure and simple. If indeed it is proven these people were indeed involved in acts of piracy while actively on duty they should get the maximum allowable sentence under the law in Malaysia.
The commander is sounding awfully desperate here as we all know that it isn't beyond the realms of possibility for those high ranking ones to be involved in all manner of dodgy dealings. Hope the Malays don't cave on this.

I wish good luck to them. This drive to gentrify the area is poorly conceived and will only sow discontent.
Taking away people's livelihoods, and altering the dynamic of an area drastically for the flimsiest of reasons simply isn't on.
Stripping BKK of its charm and bustle is not going to do the city any favours at all imo

Calling a spade a spade just isn't cricket in Thailand. You can only scratch (and / or shake) your head at the general public's apathy to it all.. Until the people see these snakes for what they are they'll continue the plunder

Those held for sharing Koh Tao rape claim 'did not know about computer law'
in Koh Samui News
Posted
This is an obscene and monumental abuse of power and state resources.
These people haven't committed a crime because there is no evidence proving or disproving claims made so far.
If the rape did occur, then really I despair because its seriousness has been completely ignored.
I wish CSI LA well, he won't be deterred. The police won't be allowed to abuse power like this forever without huge repurcussions.
The tinder box continues to gently smoulder I suspect. Something much bigger will be the thing to ignite it
