Technically, you are right. The coup only prevented her to be re-elected. However, the removal, the coup and other events which occurred during a rather short period of time were not unrelated. They were parts of a set of orchestrated events which culminated with the mil8tary coup.

The fact that there are other causes than the ones commonly admitted, doesn't mean they are mutually exclusive. The coup was the outcome of a conjunction of different factors.

The red mob was protesting in order to give the Thai electorate the possibility to vote and choose its government. Of course, they expected to win elections, but that would have been eventually the choice of the Thai electorate. The yellow mob was protesting in order to impose an unelected government to the Thai electorate, and deprive the Thai electorate from the right to choose its government. You can try to twist it as much as you want, That's fact.
