Lazada, Why so much stuff "Out of Stock"
richard_smith237 replied to Beachcomber's topic in General Topics
I noticed that - everything, every single item that I looked at this morning was 'out of stock'... I thought it was due to my VPN... refreshing the screen worked. -
Erm.. you write that as if 'they' [the pump attendants] are waiting to deliberately catch you so they can scratch your car.... which of course is nothing like the reality - they're just doing their job and don't care if you are watching or not. I know why they 'do it' [put the foam sign on our bonnet] - many drivers are so distracted, they are likely to forget to pay and just drive off !!!

Lazada, Why so much stuff "Out of Stock"
richard_smith237 replied to Beachcomber's topic in General Topics
At least they are telling you its out of stock. More annoying than that, is ordering something... (i.e. before Christmas or before a trip etc)... then looking again a few weeks later to find out the order has been cancelled by the vendor a week ago and its now too late to order from elsewhere. ... This has happened to me a number of times now... Another one is the 'bait and switch'... With a supplier cancelling the order... but 'other vendors' have the exactly the same item (exactly the same photos) for a higher price and it becomes obvious they are gaming the system. -
Security at walking street wreaking havoc
richard_smith237 replied to EdrigoSalvadore's topic in Pattaya
A group of security guards (thugs) have beaten up a man, stamped on his head etc... they think you may have filmed - and want to check your phone and delete any record... You refuse to hand over your phone !!... Sure you would 'Chuck Norris' !!! You go to a hotel and refuse to hand over your passport and ALWAYS have a photo-copy... Of course you !!! The BS some folk post on here is hilarious... -
Suspects caught in theft of iPhone 14 Pro Max in Bangkok
richard_smith237 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
The victim is the son of a director at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. - Officers then reviewed CCTV footage from the scene to identify the culprits. - The investigation revealed that the suspects fled the scene on a green-black Honda Click motorcycle - Police searched the area and found the motorcycle - Through surveillance they identified the individuals involved - The Police arrested the suspects and seized the motorcycle used in the escape Excellent police work... Would they have been so effective if it were a poorer or unconnected person who had their phone stolen (rhetorical of course). -
That seems to be the case... Ever had a headache ?... anything head 'related' is excluded !! I've had a lot of sports injuries over the years... Pacific Cross are excluding anything that might ever go wrong.. I understand that its business - nevertheless, I'm moving from 'company insurance' which covers 100% of everything (IPD OPD) no questions asked, to paying myself and facing a load of exclusions from past injuries !

It seems Phuket is Scam Central - scams everywhere down there. There is currently stories of another common scam doing the rounds on social media... From SubWay at Phuket Airport nonetheless. Tourist's order their Sandwich as per the menu, and are then asked what extra's they want. If they have extra's they are charged an extortionate amount. Recently a lady was forced to pay the equivalent £72 (yes 72 British Pounds) for 3 Sandwiches - when they gave her the price she refused to pay the ridiculous amount and wanted to cancel the order, but the Police were called and she was made to pay. There have been a handful of similar stories - the Police clearly in on it... how else could 1040 baht be charged for a single subway 6" sandwich.

I must say... The 'bow on the car and fake flowers' thing is a bit odd (not annoying though). I've never encountered it previously (+20 years here and numerous cars), but when picking up a car recently they had the bow and fake flowers etc... Wife and I wanted nothing to do with that, so asked the staff to remove them. They wanted 'their photo' so Wife reluctantly agreed after they agreed not to put anything on social media, not that its a big deal, but it just looks a big crass and showy to have photo taken like that with a new car - its just car. Another one that entertains me: Adult females wearing pyjama's in the Wet Market, or at every hotel Buffet Breakfast... (again not annoying, but makes wonder what they are thinking).

I've just had a look at Pacific Cross, and any incident I've every had (i.e. torn ligaments, torn meniscus, ruptured tendon etc) have all been excluded (excluded both ankles, even though the issue was with one of them). I wonder if they'd exclude anything related to the leg or the arm if I had a previous break !!! Needless to say - Pacific Cross is not going to be my next provider !

Idiotic Room Rate Calculation Pattaya 2024 Style

I'm not sure how you've managed to shoe-horn in some gaslighting with the accusation of bigotry - but well-done all the same !!! It is the business practice thats fallen under criticism, not the nationality, race or ethnicity of the business owner (the same criticism of 'greed' would be levied at a business owner of any nationality, location etc if engaging in the same practices)... Ah... the "if you don't like it go back to where you came from comment".... the fallback of the halfwitted muppet who lacks the intelligence to generate a sensible response - utterly dumb - such comments have been used by the cerebrally flawed on this thread for years now - little do they know how stupid it truly makes them look. Your attempts to 'point score' have made you look rather dimwitted, Sandy... perhaps less of a trigger finger in your response next time... think first !!... 'mouth into neutral, brain into gear' !! -
Teen Gang Raid London Apple Store Amid Shopper Chaos
richard_smith237 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
They can still be sent to China, where it is possible they can be 'un-bricked' (apparently - according to some info I read), if they cannot be un-bricked, they then 'taken apart and reassembled as new phones or the spare parts are sold. -
Where is the rest of the CCTV that you must have seen that shows them continuing and not stopping after the CCTV was cut? I do also. Why do you claim that they didn't? Isn't quite obvious 'why I claimed' the passing motorcyclists didn't stop ?... Their approach speed and road positioning shows that at least up until the end of the video, they were not slowing and showed no indications that they were stopping... Would you claim that they did stop - or are you simply commenting for your usual pedantic reasons ?

These store are incredible !!! They’re a game changer for Thailand when looking for reasonably priced decent sports kit… bikes too… …. the IKEA of the outdoorsy shopping. I find it impossible to go into Decathlon & not walk out with stuff I don’t really need !!!

Idiotic Room Rate Calculation Pattaya 2024 Style
richard_smith237 replied to jaizan's topic in Pattaya
A statement like that is obviously based on ignorance. There may well be some that are trying to capitalise but most of the premises offering monthly/daily rates have valid reasons for not bowing to the whims of the falang. It all hinges on the service provided for the monthly basis and how that can be controlled. No its not -masked under a thin veneer of 'policy' is simple greed, thats all it is. There is no 'physical reason' that they have to lock in a daily rate if the stay is longer than a month already. The monthly services can simply continue on for the stay - there is no need for any property to suddenly service the rooms on a daily basis etc when the stay is a continuation of a long term stay. The only justification... 'because thats the rules'.... Talking of ignorance - I wonder how often you are taking advantage of and ripped off in Thailand because you dress up someone else's greed as a justifiable policy. -
Apologies... Its been a lengthy thread and your earlier contribution has been somewhat lost to the melee of discussion... (so I'll dig it up). ... All just part of the discussion - you had very good points to make early, even if you thought it was just sparks from the no-gear landing that caused the fireball and was unaware that the air-craft had collided with a concrete topped grass berm at the time.... ... Was your input at the time uninformed gossip ?... is there a line in the sand, after which discussion turns into uninformed gossip ? Please note - I don't criticise your comments on the subject... I think your points have been informative. However, I do criticise your judgement of others who also bring questions, observations, opinions and theories into the discussion - for sure, shoot down the comments or opinions, not the right to make them (though there is the caveat - if the trolls start to take a taste for the thread.....). Example below was somewhat speculative - nevertheless, excellent input IMO.

Bangkok cleans up act: Street vendors get the boot in Pathumwan

From a certain perspective the vendors make the pavements / sidewalks safer - they'd be full of motorcyclists otherwise !!! -

Nothing... And in a few years, another similar announcement will be made... ... and you (or anyone else) will be able to make the same comment... "wasn't there a plan a few years ago...." -
The Honda CRF is fully road legal... (photo's of the bike show road tax - this was discussed earlier in the thread, but its a long thread and you may have missed that part of the discussion). Regarding plates - a few of my new bikes didn't come with a red plate, I was told it was ok to ride them without while awaiting the white plate - not sure if thats fully legal though.
