Update to my Rant earlier today
richard_smith237 replied to orchidfan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I don't think there is anything illegal about using an agent. They just cut the queueing and through relationships with the Immigration officers some of the unnecessary imaginary rules are not worried about. By that I mean... its very often in Thai bureaucratic circles for officials to 'learn from their peers' this leads to both legacy and imaginary requirements' as info is passed on from colleague to colleague... This is the primary reason why from region to region, amphur to amphur, office to office and even individual officer to officer the requirement appear so variable - everyone has their own interpretation of requirements or are following what they have been taught by a peer. Agents can circumnavigate this as they are known to know the requirements and can communicate this to the immigration officer (i.e. Document x is not required for this process, its only require for x processing etc). I've never used an agent, but understand how they can be useful to some. Some might not a agree with the comment above, but I know senior immigration officers who misunderstand their own regulations. -
Disgusting cigarette smell from ur neighbour

And these replies highlight why greater care needs to be taken when choosing accommodation... Yer neighbours could be smokers or mental cases.... Its the same for weed, its quite pungent and spreads quite far if someone on the same floor or nearby is smoking. ------------ When I 'sand-boxed' for two weeks in Phuket - the guy in the room below was a smoker, this prevented me from going out onto my balcony because of the fumes - he was there just a short time though so no big deal. Smokers have to smoke somewhere - but in area's of high living density, there need to be tighter controls IMO or it needs to be very clearly identified that the Condo is a non-smoking condo etc. This is where vapes would come in handy for those who want to smoke in Condo's as the fumes are far less bothersome. -

Thats an outstanding idea... Carry around the change for every eventuality - standby gormlessly counting it out perfectly.. then watch as the cashier does exactly the same - You do this right ?... carry perfect amounts of change to cover any and multiple purchases ? The Ops situation is very normal: He attempted to made things simpler, but made it more confusing for the cashier who may not have had the strongest of educations - They are of course fearful of making a mistake so have it drummed into them to 'double check' everything with a calculator. One of the reasons paying by promptpay is just simpler and quicker for me. -

ICE vs EV, the debate thread

That's because you're not accustomed to fast cars. Some people would use all of that power and yearn for more. I think there's a reality to Trans' comment - its nice to have the 'grunt' but it gets to a point where that much acceleration is pointless on any public road... In our very average EV (0-100 in 6.1 seconds) the traction control came on today in the wet as the wife 'pulled away from the toll booth)... OK, it was wet so of course there is a loss of traction. But when I've 'played' I can gun it, and then before I'm even joining the main expressway I'm slowing to merge with traffic. Its different using a car on a track of course - but who does that... Where is 0-100kmh in 3.5sec really of any value in the real world... bragging rights, yup.. pulling away from a expressway toll booth, yep, for the first 2 seconds then its the brakes (and yep, thats fun - but really... that'll get boring quickly). -
You've gone down it... thinking because the weight of EV car makes any difference at all when loading a ferry. It doesn't... Most of my previous cars were heaver than my current EV... and then consider no one weighs the passengers luggage etc... its just a ridiculous road to go down. Its quite amusing to read the tiny little issues some will tap into out of some form of neuritic dependancy on the insignificant and then they get twisted up and stuck doubling down the irrelevant point they are attempting to shoe horn value out of.

I'm outside of the 180 days rule - penalties still count then ? I've not yet tried brining in Massive Crypto sums via Cold Wallet into BitKub then to my account, but I could investigate dropping into my Wifes account as a 'Gift'. I usually transfer into my Wife's account as a Gift directly from my overseas account anyway as if I'm not mistaken we can transfer up 15 MB... (but I must admit, this is all muddy water for me - I also fall outside of the 180 days so am not a Thai tax resident anyway).

Oh dear - that highlight some serious mental flaws of your own. The 'threat' wasn't neutralised, it was exterminated... they may as well have chopped him up with a machete or shot him in the head... this wasn't restraint, it was a violent attack by two staff members smashing his head to the floor and repeatedly punching him. Thai News Quote: [ two male staff members appeared and forcibly tried to restrain him. The situation escalated; they slammed Sa-ard to the ground with alarming force, one of the staff members resorting to punching him on the head repeatedly ] Ok neanderthal... -
I did this years back... Was waiting for my Wife... ... Opened the door, was about to get in and saw a horrified look on a poor woman's face - the woman was not my Wife. I apologies profusely and closed the door... Waited another 30 seconds and got in my Wife's car as she pulled up at the same spot about 30 seconds later. Regarding the 'auto-door' locking thing - there are many different settings, ours unlock when we put the car in park, Just the other day I had to remind my Wife just to leave the car in neutral when stopped at the lights.

Killing him was the right thing ??? Not being professional about safely restraining him, but slamming him so hard on the floor his brain stopped working was the right thing…. Hmmmm - ok ‘Donald Harvey’… 🤕 -
It’s a perfectly fair comparison which Makes the weight point completely moot - no ferry differentiates between a standard sedan & a large SUV when loading…. The discussion is completely pointless. Below are my last 5 cars - they wouldn’t be loaded any differently on a car ferry. This aspect of the discussion is typical of the daft pointless rabbit holes some insist on side tracking these threads with.

C'mon - don't pretend an MG was your first choice... These brands exist for people without choice (no offence of course - its all in the 'eye of the beholder, but under 1MB there are a lot better choices, in my opinion of course) -

Patient dies after brutal treatment by hospital staff
richard_smith237 replied to Lorry's topic in Health and Medicine
Brutal - with CCTV evidence too... This was murder at the very least manslaughter - At least the two male staff have been suspended. I hope the follow up by the Police is taken seriously and not just ignored because the guy was an alcoholic. -

ICE vs EV, the debate thread
richard_smith237 replied to KhunLA's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I had a MG ZS EV from GRAB the other day.... I must say I was so excited I may have pee'd a bit.... It was so much better than the Toyota Altis' that the flag-fall taxi's use. In fairness to you LA... Your comments about the MG EV all make sense, as do the comments from those who have the BYD Seal.... I'd choose neither car, however, I can understand those who would - its just the 'waxing on about' that's amusing..... .... BUUUUUTTTTT.... I really hope one doesn't catch fire - I think that might crash the forum as those still debating US politics get distracted... -

They're taxi's where I come from !!!..... Couldn't resist getting that one in !!!.... ... Thats not my comment BTW - just the usual BS we get from posters whenever someone mentions Merc or BMW to display a healthy dose of reverse snobbery.... IMO - BMW Make excellent cars... and the X1 is also a great car. I think they now have the iX1 (which is electric though I'm not sure of the price in Thailand).
