  1. Genune Question: What is special about this Whisky ??? I understand that someting such as a Bulleit Bourbon or Woodford Reserve is excellent for an Old Fashioned. ... that a Macallan 12 year (or much better) is great neat... and that a JW black-label goes well with a coke etc... or even a Jack D if that flavour is preferred... But, with any of the above, if they are not available, there is always a very good alternative available. So... what is special about Crown Royal - that it makes so sought after by some in this thread ?
  2. So many variables involved with such a question which is so very multifaceted and subject to: - class of travel - travelling companion - distance of travel / destination - ease of getting to sleep 1) Business class - great for some, others don't want to or can't pay that 2) Travelling companions - Business is very expensive when paying for the whole family 3) Distance - shorter flights with layovers with a nap in a hotel can be great, or a stopover with a short city break. 4) Or if you sleep well - an over night business class is great (if can be afforded) 5) Ease of sleep - some just can't sleep at all and need 'medical aids' (i.e. **[caveat] Benzodiazepines etc), work great, but its still not a comfortable flight in eco - but it takes the edge of, or if in Business can help a person sleep for 9 hrs straight !! --------- Personally - When with the family: We go Eco, take day time flights and use a stop over for rest. Either use the hotel in the Airport, or better still, a hotel close to the airport - chill, have dinner, wake up, back to the airport refreshed) for another day time flight. We often extend the lay-over to a stop-over and have a look around the city (i.e. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Istanbul)... Important things to take: - Noise cancelling headphones - Good ones (such as Sony MX-3s (4's or 5's) critical against crying babies - there is always one and it is a parents right to travel as much as it is anyone else's - but some struggled to handle their baby - the noise cancelling headphones turn that noise into nothing).... - iPad with your own movies - especially if you travel a lot, you may have seen many of the movies already. [**Caveat - the legality of some medication which can aid sleeping is often questionable - the risks when transiting through some countries of the middle easy while small, is associated with draconian penalties].
  3. Why ?? 40,000 baht is hardly the high-end of luxury... in most cases it a phone, a normal watch etc...
  4. Dumb comment missing context - ignored for its baiting stupidity.
  5. No worries whatsoever... I do this all the time, I leave my MC for Month, 6 weeks or more as I travel a lot and injury has prevented me from riding a lot this year so I've been using just the car. The MC is sat outside now - I don't think I've touched it for a week. 90% full fuel tank - which is usually fine, no issues at all. I use a C-Tek battery tender to ensure the battery is always charged (kept in condition) as I also have a 'dash-cam' installed which has a very minor battery drain but its enough to take it below 'starting voltage' if I don't keep the battery in spec. I'm not sure how long it takes for the petrol to 'turn' (go bad) but I've not encountered that... I suppose if there is some 'spluttering' and I put it down to the fuel I can empty the thank and add fresh fuel (which as its a solvent will mix with any of the older fuel without issue)... BUT... I've never needed to do that in 10 years of riding here and leaving my bike for a month or two on end.
  6. Yet they only reverse it once the lady has died. Has she remained alive, there would be no complaint. Or, the property would have to be 'resold' into Thai hands - where would that money go then ? Would the Authorities confiscated, or would the money which was originally the French ladies, be returned to the French lady ?... In the worst case, minus any fines... Thus: the question is: For any Foreigners who gain ownership of property though 'nominees' what happens when they are 'found out' - do they lose everything ? with whom does the value of the property sit ? - or do the nominees hold it ?? - nothing has changed on their part... IF the 'nominiees' were part of the property ownership as per the land department records, don't they still have part ownership ???
  7. Daaaaammmmmnnnnn... Why is it always the Swedish ??? https://aseannow.com/topic/1344118-swedish-tourist-safe-after-sea-jump-near-koh-chang/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1337385-swedish-man-scammed-by-thai-woman-loses-over-300000-baht/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1342073-swedish-men-arrested-in-pattaya-on-fraud-and-overstay-charges/?utm_source=chatgpt.com
  8. Quite right, the pig at the trough should have set up her business legally then there would be no issue. 'Legally' as in registering at the land office and transferring money through Thai banks ? - no questionable dealings were identified at that point, Thai authorities were more than happy to legalise her business and properties... it was only when there is money to be 'skimmed' that issues are found. Thus is pure greed - Someone in a position of Authority wants this land a bargain price - No I don't have proof, but if you can't see through this facade then you are as naive as you are deliberately obtuse. A simple transfer to the Maid as per the will would fully legalise the ownership of the properties and overwrite any formality flaws previously missed. There is an underlying bigotry to this story - whereby those in positions of power appear to want to keep those they consider 'below their station' down on the ground and below their station - they can't have those they consider below them being wealthier than then - this stings at the very core of there 'face'... its dirty, nasty, evil skulduggery... wrong on every level.
  9. Just look at every single Tesco's or Big-C mall.... amongst the phone stalls are weapons stalls, knucledusters, flick-knives, daggers etc... its ridiculous.
  10. Sickening... Pigs at the trough...
  11. Agreed... there are some 'pretty dumb replies'... I suggest you give your reply another attempt !!! The Land Traffic Act B.E. 2522 (1979) defines "public way" to include any road or path that the public has the right to use, regardless of ownership. Therefore, private roads open to public use fall under this definition, allowing the Royal Thai Police to enforce traffic regulations on them.
  12. More to the point, who failed in educating you ? - if you have a counter argument, present it.
  13. In reality - so do most western women... We just hear of the ridiculous vocal extremes on social media. All of my mates in the UK have relationships that include what maybe considered as 'traditional roles' - Blokes do the Barbecuing and cutting the lawn, the women do the laundry and cooking etc... ... this wave of Feminism is not welcomed by any female I know in the UK... its just social media noise.
  14. Seems my comment may have been misunderstood - I'm not suggesting there was no need to wear a helmet (a helmet should be worn at all times)... my point was to highlight that with sensible riding and not pulling across the road in that manner the accident would not have occured.
  15. Yes You're still struggling with this I see...
  16. Absolutely astonishing... I've no idea what goes through the mind of drivers like this - firstly pulling how, how are they even looking. And then after making the huge mistake of pulling out and nearly cause and accident, instead of speeding up, they slow and stop... Minddumbingly dumb. I recall my Father in Law dropping me off at a BTS in Sukhumvit - we got to the BTS station and he was a little unsure where to pull up next to the steps / escalator - so he just stopped in the central lane !!!... I had to tell him that he can't just stop in the middle of the road - he actually has to pull to the side... Sadly - its clear that some drivers are going about their business in an absolute blur.
  17. How common is this ??? (rhetorical) - I see so many videos online of motorcyclists just 'drifting across from the left to the right across lanes of traffic... not looking and hoping the no one will 'wipe them out'... ... It seems astonishing, almost as if, if they don't look, there is nothing coming... ... its a very odd mentality, one completely devoid of any self preservation whatsoever. Lucky lady - wearing a helmet, but really, she didn't need a helmet, she just needed to ride sensibly.
  18. A very odd response - did you even bother to watch the video and comprehend what is being discussed ?
  19. What kind of brainless idiot does this ???? Answered....
  20. What kind of brainless idiot does this ????
  21. It's a photo of my former bosses wife, I think she was about 25 at the time, and had already recorded the TV series, "Adventures of a call girl" with plenty of nudity, as was her appearance in "Penny Dreadful". You're using a photo of your former bosses wife.... erm.... that doesn't exactly score a winning point either !! & that photo predates these TV series... Anyway - no biggie, just highlighting that your avatar is open to criticism in the same manner as that you have criticised... Anyway - I agree... She was quite the fox.
  22. But we ain't using a gay fantasy figure as our avatars! No... but with that accusation you think you've scored a winning point while using a photo of a teenage Billie Piper... ... a tad noncey !!!
  23. No.... he wants Thailands road rules... . Thailand has always had perfectly decent road regulations and rules - the issue is they are not followed, then people like you come along without any idea and accuse someone of wanting to change the rules - thats rather dim. Additionally - people who care about Thailand want to see improvements here, because the impact of such road behavior and the additional traffic it causes has a significant impact on Thailands economy to the tune of 11 Billion Baht per year (US$320 per year)... ... on top of which is the increase in costs of around 5.9 Billion Baht (US$172 million) per year due to additional fuel use while stalled in congestion. Its 'big picture thinking' so some will struggle to understand this impact and argue at a dumbed down simplistic level - "stop trying to change Thailand, it was like this before we got here".... A study by the Kasikorn Research Center estimated that in 2016, Bangkok's traffic jams resulted in an annual opportunity cost of approximately 11 billion baht, or about 60 million baht per day. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/1082948/study-bangkok-traffic-jams-cost-b11bn?utm_source=chatgpt.com
  24. Lets face it... there are both foreigners and Thai's who drive like selfish idiots with complete disregard for their own safety, the safety of those around them and have no respect for road rules. Fortunately Thailand is far better than many other places I've been to - but the ineffective policing here enables a level of selfishness on the road that could easily be eradicated. Dealing with the outright dangerous idiots is harder. As road users we see both, the selfish ayholes and the outright dangerous idiots - but I do believe it is a minority of users, otherwise we'd be in a lot more accidents. I think driving here requires a certain degree of adoptation, but that does not mean adopting to breaking the rules in the same manner some of the dangerous fools do - but it does mean adapting to a certain degree of assertiveness on the road and this was exampled by the video posted above - Lordgrinz didnt fold or give way to someone trying to force their way though the traffic in such an antisocial manner. But... there are also plenty of other 'passively idiotic' traits that cause so much issue on the road. - the inability to give way, when two cars are approaching and there is an obstacle, one car should slow and allow the other to pass, instead, neither gives way and its actually slower for both cars to squeeze through the tiny gap. This highlights a lack of thinking towards the 'greater good'. Another is the manner in which people park, or rather abandon their vehicles - they leave just enough space for a vehicle to pass, but that vehicle has to slow right down to walking pace... This happens at a market on our soi, the bikes all park outside, and leave 'just enough space'... Its quite a skill, leaving just enough CM's for a car to squeeze through so the bike is not fully blocking the road, but it forces all traffic to come to a near standstill - such selfishness turns a 3-5m journey up the road into a 15m journey sometimes, just because someone can't be bothered to park their bike properly, and the police do nothing. Thus: Selfishness and stupidity - the biggest causes of traffic here, obviously combined with poor road planning. What we see in the video is decent road planning - just a combination of both selfishness and stupidity of the Songthaew driver and when this is multiplied to 1% of the traffic it has significant impact on the remaining road users.
