Why is Thailand so terrible at sport?
richard_smith237 replied to Yellow Fever's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Thai's usually win some medals in Badminton, Boxing and Weight lifting. The do relatively well regionally in Volley Ball. I suspect a lot of the reason is due to lack of investment in the sports other than those mentioned above. -
Thats good then - it looks like you have a solution to prevent recurrance. As you have been flagged and its possible there are notes in the system (no idea about that), its not going to be a good next rotation with this hanging over your head for the whole month. Thus: Nipping out of country (Penang / Vientane), applying online and getting a Multiple Entry Non-Imm O (based on being a parent) getting the visa affixed at the consulate / embassy, then returning and exiting with a re-entry permit... then obtaining an extension of stay when you next return to Thailand seems to be a possible solution.

Some fusions go very well... i.e. Green Curry Pie works very well (I've had one before)... ... Another excellent 'fusion' is Gapraw Pizza and Laab Pizza... Don't knock it till you've tried it... (on an excellent pizza base there are many things that are good). I suspect there are a lot of foods you haven't tried in your short time here... you've let your foot off the clutch very early on in this whinge... For example: Have you tried Khao Soi ???

The Op is clearly not eating decent Thai food... Had he made his observations about Thai deserts I'd be inclined to agree.. .. I suspect the Op may have been eating bland food because he's avoiding spice.. so sticking to Chicken with Cashew Nuts, Pinnaple fried rice and Pad Thai... He's been here three weeks and he thinks he's become an expert on Thai food... The range of Thai food and variation of flavours here is outstanding... From Penang Curry, Green Curry, Tom Yum Nam Khon, Massaman curry, Laab, Boat Noodles, Khao Soi, Pad Gapraw, various variations of fish, mien Kham - the choices are excellent... In some area's the quality of meat in Thai dishes can be variable, though there are not issues with tough chicken cut with a hammer at the better places.

There is often a logic disconnect with things like that. It was at Samitivej when my son was unwell (about 1 yr old at the time).. hadn't slept all night and had developed a temperature - after getting rid of the Junior doctor who was talking rubbish, he was admitted and the first thing they wanted to do was put him on an IV.... ... I asked why ?... Ans: just incase he needs medication... He was exhausted and asleep and it was first time he'd slept since the day before. I wouldn't let them put an IV in him, I didn't want to wake him up. I told them the nurses no, they can put and IV in him when or if they know what medication is needed. The senior Dr. arrived and completely agreed - no need to disturb him until we know what the issue is, let him rest. He had a UTI and did need an IV for antibiotics - but that was a good few hours later when they hooked him up and he'd had some much needed rest.

This was my issue in the past... back in 2007 I saw more complaints of people with frequent visa-exempt entries getting questioned... At the time I was getting back to 6 month tourist visas (on my bi-annual visits to the UK, but they stopped those - the only option for me was to get the Elite Visa. For someone 'rotating' on a 28x28 (days)... this is a tricky one. Question: 1) Is it possible to apply for a Non-Immigrant O Visa while in Thailand on visa exempt ? (I'm not sure it is). 2) Could you apply for a Non-Immigrant O Visa in your country of work... (apply online then stop off and get the visa affixed in your passport) 3) Is it possible to get a Re-entry Permit when holding a 60 day Non-Immigrant O Visa (based on Marriage / or parent of a Thai child) ???? 4) Could you fly to a neighbouring country (i.e. Vientiane) and apply for a Non-Immigrant O Visa ? 5) Can a Re-entry permit be issued when holding a Immigrant O Visa (i.e. within the 60 days), or can the re-entry permit only be issued on an extension of stay (thus making the above questions moot). Thoughts here are: If possible, get a Non-Imm O visa (either in the country of work, or neighbouring country while on days off) - work a rotation.. If you can get a re-entry permit, then obtain an extension of stay once back in country.

Thai man in BMW causes multiple crashes in Bangkok, 9 injured
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Given the behavior, I find that very hard to believe - I hope they conducted a second test with a different device and also drug tested the driver as well. It's high time that fleeing the scene of an accident is given a more sever penalty than causing an accident while Driving Under the Influence.... -
I prefer to do it myself - thanks

You can do better than that... how about "Go back to your home country if you don't like it here" ??? !!!... -
Hope she's getting good treatment. What type of hospital is she in and where ? There is a lot of excellent medical advise and knowledge on this forum... some hospitals are better than others. Example: a recent thread about Khon Kaen University Hospital - whereby posters suggested this hospital was excellent, but another hospital in KK was not very good at all and the advice was if possible to move the patent to Khon Kaen University Hospital. Thus; in providing the hospital you might receive some better advice from those in the know (if you are looking for advice of what to do).

I see.. you mean the crappy 'travel insurance' etc that comes free or very cheaply and covers only accidents etc and has very strict conditions.. ...no cover while under the influence of alcohol (or drugs) / no cover on a motorcycle etc... ------- I recently 'nearly got caught out' with dedicated travel insurance. I took out travel insurance for a recent trip (which covered trip cancellation / loss of luggage / delayed luggage / damage to sports equipment etc / Injury)... I ended up getting injured and required hospital treatment while overseas - I was under the impression (mistakenly) that the coverage would pay for treatment overseas and as the injury occurred overseas that treatment for cover would continue upon return to Thailand. The insurance did pay out for the initial treatment received while overseas (put in a cast). Had I had a (far more expensive) operation while overseas, the travel insurance would have paid out. But, I opted to return to Thailand for treatment, as soon as I returned to Thailand there was no further cover - luckily my 'other' (work) insurance covered the costs of an Op (approximately $15,000)... On the healthcare system in Thailand... - The surgery / surgeon, treatment, facilities etc were outstanding - 1st Class. - The follow up (physio) was atrocious - so much so I complained and aborted them opting to do my own. It was almost as if the physio was not taken seriously and the Physio Dr's were just going through the motions without any real plan (they had no plan at all), they seemed to be 'winging it' - whereas I wanted aggressive hard core rehabilitation, they seemed disinterested.

Yeah - its not the best worded headline... but after reading the question itself its more apparent. ... There is a woman's forum on here, there may be assistance. Ultimately - I suspect the question is specifically regarding personal safety... - Thailand is a very safe country in the day time, thus with the use of common sense, everywhere is fine. - At night, things change slightly, especially with booze and its best to buddy up to ensure personal safety, especially for a female. - With that in mind, if travelling alone, seeking accommodating where others are easily met is a good option (i.e. Back packers hostels etc).

Either he was pushed (had a fight etc).. OR fell of by accident... It takes an exceptional degree of fluckwittery to fall off a train by accident, but after witnessing some of the behavior on the roads here and the complete idiocy of behavior from fools around the world I've come to realise that the 'impossibly ridiculous' is made quite possible by some...

Mine is through work (global policy) and covers anything / everything... in patient & outpatient, dental, eyes etc... (until they fire me)... I looked at similar Policies to self cover and its about 350,000 Baht (which I wont pay myself). If I were not working - I would chose VUMI (which I have for my Wife and Son) - In Patient Treatment only / No Excess / World Wide Except USA - it would be about 70,000 Baht per year (for someone in their mid-late 40's). Note: I'm not sure VUMI has an age cap though.
-
There are decent brokers around... i.e. Pacific Prime who can guide you. There are also dedicated Cancer Policies etc (but careful with the age cap).
-
Up to you as they say... There a lot of discussion regarding self insurance, & the main issue is if incapacitated or unconscious treatment could be refused until you can prove payment (plenty of stories of this). What do you mean by 'Farang Insurance' ??? If you mean 'International Insurance Policies' obtained from overseas (i.e. Cigna etc) then its not useless at all, cover is excellent. Additionally, 'International Insurance Policies' obtained from overseas operate under 'tighter rules' and there is less probability of the underwrite rejecting a claim - this obviously has to be balanced against the extra cost. Also, many Thai policies start excluding people at the age of 70 (or close to that age).

What is Bangkok famous for?
richard_smith237 replied to Conan The Barbarian's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
All of the above.. - Clubs / Party Scene - Girly Bars - Khaosan Road - Food (particularly street food ) - Shopping (MBK / Markets / and excellent Malls) - Congestion (Bkk has a strong reputation for terrible traffic jams) - Wat Arun / Grand Palace / Sleeping Buddha - Grand Palace - TukTuks -
It would be stupid not to know.. Travel insurance is for 'travel', not for taking up residence somewhere - thus you might find that the travel insurance only covers you for xx days (i.e. up to a month from initial travel date). Thus, you may find yourself un-insured (or the travel insurance expired already). Travel insurance is not the same as health insurance.

What duration does your 'travel insurance' cover you for ?

Your comments in this thread and others have presented a very specific traits of which I am now quite certain - you are a a wretched human being with no redeeming characteristics... I would hope you are different in person as your online persona is repugnant.
