Thats the key point... It seems Immigration offices and DLT's in different locations apply their own regulations differently - I'm sure this is not a surprise to any of use here. I know that the DLT in Area 3 (Bangkok, Bang Chak) does accept the Yellow House Book for Driving licence renewal and car registration. I have also read on here that Chonburi, does not. I have also read on here that the going rate for an 'instant service' CoR is 500 Baht or it takes about two weeks to receive in the post. So, while the Op doesn't want to tell us where - this information is often useful to a lot of us who may be about to go through this common request - I don't understand the reason not to tell where. ------- It seems the Op was the victim of 'greed' inflation !!..

I've been through the satellite terminal at Suvrnabumi a few times now... Its long way. What I would plan: - Pre-Book Special Assistance (upon arrival). - When checking in at your departure airport, ask for a 'baggage tag' to gate check your wheel chair. - Use your wheel chair through the airport once at the plane (air-bridge), the airline staff will load it in the baggage. - Upon arrival your wheel chair 'should' be made available to you upon de-planing. - IF your wheel chair is not made available when deplaning, then you have the wheel chair assistance that you pre-booked to help (and the use of their wheel chair) - in this case your wheel chair may go to the carousel (nevertheless, you then still have someone to fast track you through the airport). I've flown with wheel chair assistance (after an injury) - but never my own wheel chair. But, the gate checking option was frequently used for our 'buggy' (for our infant son)... we'd gate check it every time and it would be there, with other buggies at the air-bridge or just inside the gate - only a couple of times was it taken through to baggage reclaim, but I doubt they'd do that with a wheel-chair.

The idea of a 'go bag'... seems to be the delusional idea of someone who things they are in clandestine services and may need to escape without wasting seconds... In reality, for those needing to 'move quickly'... that 'quickly' is hours not minutes. In this context it has crossed my mind if my Son were to get into extreme trouble.. i.e. he's caught in a mates house with a load of drugs, or worse still caught in possession of a large amount of drugs etc... ... I'd do what I can to get him out of the country immediately.. Obviously, I don't ever expect this would happen and ensuring it doesn't is down to solid parenting - however, never say never !..

It means you're making a show and dance and verbalising your self perceived moral superiority over someone who has recently encountered the worst possible tragedy and lost their child in a tragic accident. ... That doesn't make you morally superior - it makes you insensitive and void of empathy.... The rest of your tosh is pure gaslighting while attempting to double down with a complete lack of tact.

New E-Gates for Thai Passports Debut at Suvarnabhumi Airport
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Quite possibly.... I imagine its all part of a plan, progression. Its obviously easier for out bound passengers.... and indeed, some Non-Thai's (on this forum) have reported using the e-gates already... though has they are being trialed, I suspect they 'slipped through the gaps'... I think its only a matter of time before they are used for both Thai's and Foreigners upon departure. And for Thai's and Non-Thai longer term residents on arrival. Its just natural progression - it happens slowly here, but it happens. -

If being checked by a 'digital system' and your records are all online... Why would it even be necessary to go back to an 'analogue' system (i.e. a stamp?)... it would just be superfluous to the system. The necessary information is stored your Immigration Profile (Immigration database) and compared to your passport biometrics. -

Why not all passengers irrelevant of nationality. I thought that would be extremely clear to anyone... Thai citizens are exempt from passport and visa requirements, so verifying their status is straightforward. However, individuals from other countries face a complex array of entry permissions, including Permanent Resident, Non-Immigrant, Tourist, Volunteer, and Visa Exemption statuses. The system is currently being tested for Thai citizens, which is a logical initial step before further updates and developments can be implemented. -
What to do when it's too hot in Bangkok?
richard_smith237 replied to Conan The Barbarian's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
You realise the stupidity of this comment... Its like suggesting someone moves to their home country if they are asking where they can get a decent burger, or buy a good BBQ... Having Air-Con is a facet of being in Thailand - one now ingrained throughout culture, throughout society. Only the poorest do not have AC in their homes. ------- Back on Topic - OP... If your AC is on, working, but is not cooling your room to a comfortable temperature - then its not working. -
New E-Gates for Thai Passports Debut at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Yes... In reality... I'm currently resident of a few countries (due to work). Two of them, I simply scan my Passport In and Out without getting any stamp. Thus: I think this could be implemented for those on a Resident Visa (i.e. Non-Imm B / O / OA etc)... or even those on long term Visas (i.e. Thai Elite etc).... But for regular tourists and those arriving on Tourist Visa's / Visa Exemption stamps I think e-gates would be more difficult to implement, and IMO unlikely. -
I wouldn't exactly call them 'tighy-whiteys'... nothing tight about them... more lick saggy Y-fronts as you call them... Surely boxers with elastane are the way to go out here...

Thats just down to how multicultural a nation is. Thailand knows there are 'very few' foreigners who have Thai Nationality... At the same time, particularly in areas of Bangkok, there are whole 'Indian' (Sikh) communities who are Thai, and they 'fit in like locals' because all locals know they are Thai... The same is said of Thai Chinese. But with White Foreigners, who've gained Thai Nationality no one believes they are Thai, that just does not compute. The Opposite is true in our home countries.. When I visit with my Wife (Thai), no one thinks she isn't British, its just assumed by everyone that she was born in the UK. ------------- I think feelings of how we 'fit in' are more tied into how 'normal' we feel being here. I don't find Thailand anything special, I don't expect special treatment or negative treatment, I expect the same degree of indifference with which Thai's treat each other.... .... everything seems pretty normal... for me, thats a feeling of fitting in... fitting in enough anyway... BUT... thats in Bangkok... ... when I've been in more isolated in Thailand and have 'kids following me around in Big-C giggling etc - thats when I'm reminded, no I don't fit in and there is still a novelty element to the 'foreigner experience' or at least the continued exposure to the feeling of being 'different' (which I don't get in Bangkok).

And... no you won't... On every thread you post in, the only thing you beleive is your own negative bias regardless of the mountain of experiences and information presented to you that contradict your self inflicted broken encounters and opinions. -

I'll believe it when I see it! bob. I'm not sure what has changed with this new system... But there have already been plenty of reports of foreigners using the previous e-gate system (Dec / Jan of this year)... That brought up the issue of the system recognising the 're-entry permit'... BUT - I'm sure when it does happen, you will find a way to have a problem with the e-gates and accuse all Thai's of hating foreigners because it 'glitched' when you tried it !!... -

richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No they don't 'have to be'... ... just because foreign passports are currently stamped, it does not mean at all that foreign passports have to be stamped with an expiry date.... ... This already occurs in so many places.... Its up to the 'Passport holder' to know their permission of stay. Also, it wouldn't be difficult for the system to 'issue a slip' - showing permission of stay. All data is logged digitally, so theoretically there is no need for any stamps. -

Your bullshyite bias and persistent negative rhetoric against all things Thai is blinding you so severely lack a basic ability to comprehend what is in front of you.... After a 'testing phase' the new gates will cater to foreigners. -
100% - Spammy trolling threads, from spammy posters who've joined in the last month... Diluting the forum of any genuine tropics and displacing discussion and debate of more interesting issues. A lot of what see now when clocking on 'view new content' is 'manufactured' threads that look deliberately constructed and completely ingenue - its an insult to the forum members who are not here to troll, trigger, wind people up etc... This 'seemingly new direction' is pushing the forum to the dogs - its become more satire than real content.

BMW driver hits motorcycle, causing fatal crash in Pathum Thani
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
That perhaps has more to do with damage caused... If it was a soi dog, a Golden Retriever ripping off a postmans arm, mauling its owner to death, ripping off a childs face etc... I'm sure it would reach the media. -

Do you not think that it should read ..... He was driving behind the BMW after it had overtaken him. I do... but then we'd be going down the rabbit hole of picking apart the language used in an very poorly written article in an overseas media publication when its a far simpler task to grasp the concept of what was actually meant... -

Possibly, unless the motorcycle swerved in front of the car then suddenly stopped... There are scenarios where the following car may not be at fault - we'd need a video to be able to evaluate that as the description remains sketchy and lends to trying to image what happens which will naturally involve some assumptions. -

Odd manoeuvre that ! Not really - it would appear that Surathian was an eye witness who was following the BWM which had previously overtaken him.... (if I'm not mistaken the scene unfolded in front of him), -
BMW driver hits motorcycle, causing fatal crash in Pathum Thani
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Exactly this... Cars have better braking than motorbikes (at least the average car has better braking)... In this case, as pointed out... the driver was either too close and / or reacted too slowly, or something else occurred that isn't quite as described. Another facet to this: Isn't 3-up on a motorcycle illegal - so they should not have been on the road in that 'condition' in the first place - did the '3-up' lead to the erratic riding and stopping in the middle of the road. Silly riding from the motorcyclist - Riding safety 101 means never stopping and leaving yourself exposed in the road - did they swerve in front of the car. That said: the a driver should never be hitting anything stopping in front of them, whether they were on the road legally or not. --------- And.. Were the motorcyclists wearing helmets - I assume no. Would wearing of a helmet have prevented the fatality ? (according to removes, in 50% of incidents where a helmet was not work resulting in death a helmet would have prevent death)... Thus: should a driver be held accountable for a road death of a motorcyclist was on the road illegally not wearing a helmet which could have prevented serious head injury leading to death ???
