I don't give two hoots about Pink ID - but repeatedly belch out false statements and outright lies because for some reason to hate it... ... So, its these lies and false statements I am correcting and calling you out on the BS you are posting.

Why you shouldnt carry cash in Thailand
richard_smith237 replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Yup... I don't even know why I bother to carry a wallet anymore.. I could just put a 1000 baht note and ID card in my phone case, and thats sufficient, only carrying the phone... If I did need more cash while out... I can use cardless ATM.... -
Why you shouldnt carry cash in Thailand
richard_smith237 replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Agreed... but then that could easily be countered with many reasons why carrying cash can be problematic too.. i.e. a shop not accepting £50... Shops in England not accepting the Scottish £ (even though they are supposed to), unknowingly carrying counterfeit cash etc etc... There are pro's and cons surrounding each method - specifically avoiding the use of one or the other is flawed thinking IMO.... the issue is not binary.... there are a number of times when cash is better, and there are a number of times when digital payment is better.... -
Tragic Tuk Tuk Accident: Israeli Family Declines Legal Action
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
It could be for any reason that a moving vehicle is forced to stop quickly... I don't think a jaywalker could be at fault for a child falling out of a tuktuk unless the tuktuk driver was proven to be driving recklessly. -

Good that there is a follow up... How was the initial story so fundamentally incorrect (when stating a following vehicle hit impacted the child)... ... So very tragic... but I think the parents are correct not to want to charge the TukTuk driver, ultimately, they are responsible. -
Why you shouldnt carry cash in Thailand

The 'one day if everything goes down' is flawed... That has never happend. It's sometimes the case that single digital payment option is not working... But, the incidence of that is less than going up to an ATM and finding that it is not working... & Lets face it... getting cash from an ATM is still digital payment, you're just adding another step to the process by going to an ATM in the first place. You mentioned you like to count cash... Thats one of the very few 'anti-digital-payment' comments I'd agree with... Some people are personally attached to physical cash.... and thus, have their preference... but at least this argument doesn't rely on a flawed logic to justify a choice - its just admitting that emotion comes into the decision. -

Binary thinking on an either or level when the convenience of cash-vs-cashless is multifaceted. Every 'pro-cash' comment, has an equally compelling 'pro-digital-payment' response and vice-versa. -
Bangkok holds five-day Pride fest to boost LGBTQ+ tourism
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Why not... they travel to Sydney... For the Gay and Lesbian Mardis Gras Parade... The smallest voices often shout the loudest... perhaps they need to and I'd support their voice, just not the manner in which 'they' shout. You can see this here the way Jing plays the victim with any post he disagrees with... discussion can't be held or entertained, instead hiding behind accusations is the go to response. Sure there are bigots about, but in general, the world doesn't care if people are LGBQT+ they just care about how people behave and how their agenda is forced on the rest of the world with inflammatory yet ridiculous attempts behavior such as Trans wanting to use female toilets or participate in female events etc... such behavior does no one any good. -
Bangkok holds five-day Pride fest to boost LGBTQ+ tourism
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Many of my Gay friends agree, these parades can be devisive.... one of my best mates is getting married this summer... I'm really looking forwards to his wedding.... We played football and rugby together in School.. we have drank beers together since our teens... holidayed together.. He's just a another bloke and his partner has become another friend, just as my Wife has also become a close friend of his... He's not interested in parading around, yet would strongly protest for his rights, as would I. These parades are not about rights, they are about showboating and the lewd behavior is somehow permitted even though it is offensive to families.. -

To an extent, I think you are correct - why not let a bung of fellow humans walk and dance through the streets - but for 5 days ??... But at the same time... IF someone were to try and instigate a 'White Honky Pride Day' it would get shut down immediately... and rightly so... I used the example of having a parade for 'Married Couples'... that soon would be shut down as if offends non hetero minorities... It is from this perspective I argue that the playing field has been unlevelled as any balanced opinion which does't perfectly fit the LBGQT+ agenda is knee-caped by the victim card. -

Thought so... you have no intelligent response because you know you are overly bias and opinions you grasp onto are flawed. -
Why you shouldnt carry cash in Thailand
richard_smith237 replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Exactly this... Cashless payments are extremely convenient and something I use mostly these days... But, Carrying some cash makes sense, just incase the the cashless option fails (I have not encountered this as yet though). Also, cash is also more convenient for things such as flag-fall taxi's etc... -
@Neeranam - have you forgotten?, we've done this dance before.. Each time you attempt to start isolating single events which may fit your rhetoric. Each time you ether grasp on to an irrelevant straw, or, I highlight where you are mistaken and how I and others have experienced first hand a contradiction to your comments.

The accounts are Opened with my name in English, but registered to the ID number on my Yellow House Book and Pink ID. No translations needed for immigration. Regarding translations outside of the Bank - the only translation outside of a Bank I have ever needed are: - Freedom of affirmation to Marry. - Translation of my an Embassy verified copy of my Passport. Thus - the pink ID comment is completely moot on this point.
-
So you are posting comments without knowing... (photo below). Of course the Pink ID isn't Alien Identification - Alien identification is issued by an overseas entity. Nope, it doesn't defeat the purpose at all - the Pink ID adds a layer of convince which is well documented on this forum. I don't carry my passport around in my Wallet, the Pink ID is convenient. Whenever leaving the province, I take my passport with me anyway, always have, always will as we may need to prove our Immigration Status...
-
And now we all know why I posted the above comment... ... because Neeranam always posts misleading information about the Pink ID... He seems to think, or rather projects, that foreigners who have this Pink ID believe they are special or carry themselves with an air of superiority... (something like that anyway)... Perhaps he encountered and idiot Westerner who has behaved like this and it annoyed him, it is possibly this which has tainted his opinion of the Pink ID card and he has since gone down the rabbit hole of pooh-poohing the pink ID whenever the topic pops up. But... He always posts the same inaccuracies regardless of how many times he is told he is posting false information.
-
Wrong - you need to stop posting lies to fit your rheotirc. - Banks have issued me with letters for Immigration, when presenting my pink ID as identification. - Banks have permitted 'in bank transactions' when presenting my pink ID as identification. Note: in this case the account was opened with Yellow Book and Pink ID
-
You always peddle the same rubbish... You have Thai citizenship - so of course you wouldn't find any use for the Pink ID card. These cards are issued as an ID for Westerners, they work as ID for Westerners, forum members have repeatedly posted examples how how the Pink-ID card has added a layer of convenience for them - so clearly, they are not just for migrant labourers. You have also misrepresented the wording the back of the card to fit your 'pink ID is useless' opinion and deliberately missed out a key point regarding province of issue and freedom of movement... in doing so you deliberately post an un-truth, you do this in every thread regarding the Pink-ID. On the back of the card (point #3) it states: "The person named on the card is prohibited from leaving the card issuing area, except for those with alien identification, or a person who has written permission'.... Our 'alien identification' is our Passport... for anyone with a passport and also a Pink-ID there is no limitation on travel.

Yup... thought so... you are unable to deal with the discussion with balanced intelligence so you levy accusations at motive instead... .. my only motive here maybe perhaps to highlight a degree of hypocrisy, you are providing good examples getting so butt-hurt and responding like a drama-queen... ----- Now.. after reading that last sentence, you'll be beside yourself, grasp at the victim-card and accuse me of using homophobic language... ...however, neither the terms 'butt-hurt' or 'drama-queen' have anything to do with your sexuality or that of anyone else - the terms are commonly thrown around the forum without any referece to gender or sexual preference, so you can keep that 'card' in your back-pocket for when you really need it... -

Yep... because I'm for equal treatment - not the special treatment of anyone... So.. how are they identifiable when it comes to 'spending'... how is that metric measured ? I'd welcome an intelligent answer - not something overly defensive because you are so sensitive at the thought that every comment is an attack.. -

Imagine checking into a hotel or going shopping in Emporium and having to tick a 'check-box'... to identify your sexual preference.... anyone would go nuts about that... So... how did they get this data that Jing is clinging onto so much to justify this 'special treatment' ???... the answer is of course, someone made it up so they can have a 5 day parade. -

richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Why not seek all tourists... why specifically LBGQT+ ???? (more on that below) There are cries for equality - so why can't you accept it when someone suggest the LBGQT+ are treated equally.... and that means no special treatment and no negative treatment. Perhaps the reason there is some backlash by some against the LBGQT+ communities is because of over sensitive mouth pieces crying bigotry at those with a balanced opinion. IF this article were about specifically coveting married couples, you might be amongst the first on this forum to cry discrimination - and if you were, on that point, I'd agree with you. This idea that those of LBGQT+ spend more so attracting them specifically is flawed... it would be the same as specifically coveting 'Arab' tourists if they were found to spend more... and that is flawed... Thailand makes billions from back-packers... particularly as those who come here in their younger years, very often return for a holiday later on in life... thus, attracting such tourists (back-packers) has more than a one off 'reward'... as does attracting anyone who is likely to be a repeat visitor, the LBGQT+ might be repeat visitors, so attract them, also attract the bar 'mongers', many of them are repeat visitors... Thailand misses the point that if has a solid product - it will sell.... Thus, taking measures to make the product of Thai tourism attractive to all is where the attention should be - singling out the LBGQT+ may make people like Jing feel warm and fussy but his warm and fussiness comes with an element of hypocrisy - didn't you want equality ? -

There is already that anti LGBT topic going. Why do you need to infect this one too? Can't you just leave it alone? You don't have to participate. It's obvious you already dislike and resent LGBT gay people. DIdn't your momma ever teach you to live and let live? Every topic touching on LGBT is ultimately dominated by bigoted posts. I deliberately didn't post in that topic specifically because I'm not anti LBGQT+ and it did seem a very 'anti-LBGQT+' topic to be contributing to, so I didn't want to give any oxygen to the discussion. However, it does seems that any time someone posts in a manner which is anything other than gushingly positive towards the LBGQT+ community you become overly sensitive and are extremely quick to throw out accusations. My whole point here is that the LBGQT+ is just people, like anyone else, no better, no worse... the idea that they are specifically coveted for tourism is as equally ridiculous to me as as specifically coveting married couples... when instead all tourists should be marketed towards and coveted. But... you were unable to recognise or comprehend that point becase of your overwhelming instinct to straight into defend mode playing the hurt pony before going into attack mode... -

In another thread, some were outspoke about LBGQT+ being pushed everywhere... This was met with accusations of bigotry... So, at the risk of sounding like a bigot, is this not the very thing that alienates the LBGQT+ community from the general masses ??? ... Why does there need to be a dedicated 5 days Pride-Fest just to boost tourism for the LBGQT+ minority - shouldn't Thailand be pushing to welcome ALL tourists and take measures to improve aspect of Thailand to boost tourism on a whole ?? I object to such notions of specifically marketing to the LBGQT+ community as it singles out their difference from the rest of society... I object for the very same principles I'd object if Thailand had a 5 days 'hetro-fest' to boost tourism on married couples...
