  1. Sex sells... its just that simple... ... Is is really such a big deal to make a person suddenly go woke ???... Just because she has a cracking set or norks, does that make the food bad ??... Its no skin off our nose... she's found a better way to 'market' her product... Products do not sell themselves, thats why the Advertising industry is so strong... We are all influenced and manipulated by various types of advertising - those wanna be independent free thinkers are just pulling the wool over their own eyes if they think they aren't...
  2. I suspect there may be a bit of flip-flipping before then... or more realistically... Just like a lot of major announcements such as this... those in positions of decision making power make the announcement before realising what a cluster fluck they are creating... and that the shift is just not tenable... ... so they end up keeping quiet... and then the panic settles into just the memory of an announcement while everyone carries on doing the same thing while remaining silent... A few shops will get raided, public photos etc.. and that will be it... Don't smoke openly in the street and I imagine you'll be fine. Get yourself into trouble and have your apartment / house searched... and they'll make a song and dance about it... 'bad farang caught with....'
  3. This... But really... no one is the stupid.... ... are they ??? So then there's this...
  4. You mean you tried to squeeze through a gap past and obstruction on your side of the road, forcing the oncoming vehicle with right of way to be blocked, and then question why someone tries to teach you the correct right of way ??? ... He could of course, have stopped as well... ..... But it does pish some drivers off when they have to stop and give way to motorcyclists taking liberties with right of way. That said, as you pointed out, some guys are just angry at everything, what you did in forcing your way through on a motorcycle is quite the norm here... no need for him to get angry. I wonder if he'd have wound down his window and shouted at a Thai rider. Anyway - Not related to the Bad C... which I think is something many of us have concerns about, then when we feel a niggle or pain this may bring more concern. - I had massive debilitating flank pain a few weeks back, unable to sleep... Ended up in ER the next day. - Turns out it was an intercostal muscle, but after a kidney stone was ruled out, I feared the worst - I hate being a paranoid hypochondriac when things like that happen. Sadly - I know a couple of Thai's friends who have passed well too young with Big C. My father has dodged a Big-C bullet with early screening and had minor treatment to deal pre-cancerous bump in colon, the early screening no doubt saved him a lot of trouble. I'm in my late 40's and have never had a full check - this is something I really should get around to.
  5. How can it e a slower delivery method when nothing is delivered? You miss understood the point... If all you are interested in is the alcohol or the caffeine, there are faster methods of delivering that into your system than a beer or a cup of coffee...
  6. In that case you may as well inject something or take a tablet for your alcohol and caffeine fix... .. after all whats the point in the slower delivery method when you can get a faster hit ?
  7. This is nothing like the holocaust... a Travel Card is a layer of convenience. This brick in the wall nonsense is ridiculous.... No its not, its completely unrelatable to anything discussed in this thread. So you don't use debit or credit cards ?... you use 100% cash...???? ... how do you get hold of that cash ??? - ATM ???... You've left a digital footprint. - Carry it in with you ???... You've left a digital footprint (with the airlines and immigration). So... how on earth would you to travel anywhere and 'not leave any footprint' ???
  8. I believe such minds can easy get themselves into such a pickle. The Op can't even be bothered to use paragraphs or full stops, clearly not a person with any concern for detail or the legibility of his comments...
  9. You've compared digital payments (travel card) to the Holocaust... Thats one sick leap...
  10. Fill your boots and highlight to everyone on here how you are as antisocial as the Op... .... are you one of those people who will comfortably irritate others through antisocial behavior ?... Loud-Music bothering neighbors, smoking in restaurants etc ?... 'cos when in Rome....
  11. Fair enough if you want to argue semantics... .. I was using the 'official translation'...... feel free to continue getting hung up on the difference between a bilateral vs multilateral agreement when its clear - Thailand and the UK have an agreement in place which is the point.
  12. If you have an accident your insurance could be invalid if you don't have an IDP. Thailand requires one too but most people don't bother. Not worth the risk really as they are easily obtained. There are agreements in place. From the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic Contracting parties shall recognize as valid for driving in their territories: any domestic driving licence drawn up in their national language or in one of their national languages, or, if not drawn up in such a language, accompanied by a certified translation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_Convention_on_Road_Traffic Thailands Motor Vehicle Act: Section 42-2 In case there’s a treaty between the Thai government and a foreign government regarding mutual acceptance of driver’s license, an alien who doesn’t have an immigrant visa may drive a motor vehicle with a driver’s license issued by such a foreign government, or an automobile association authorized by such a foreign government. https://driving-in-thailand.com/motor-vehicle-act/
  13. Then stop posting <deleted>... You don't think Thailand has 'bilateral agreements' with other nations regarding acceptance of driving licenses ? Land Transport Act BE 2522(1979).pdf
  14. ???? Whats the point of this ?? Just a statement and a photo... it means absolutely nothing - such a ridiculous opening post.
  15. RIP and condolences to the family and friends. Regarding the Go-Fund-Me... I understand that there are cultural and religious differences... But, I don't quite get the logic behind transporting a dead body from Thailand to the UK at huge expense... ... Would it not be easier to have a cremation in Thailand and a Memorial service in the UK. His ashes could be transported back in due course - either hand carried or posted. For someone who lived a long time in Thailand, I've heard of people 'splitting the ashes'.... so that some remain in Thailand and some is returned to the UK... some form of comfort if the deceased had loved ones in both nations.
  16. Then you shouldn't mind sitting in an enclosed garage for a length of time with your engine running... My car is diesel... its irrelevant how well tuned your car is, B7 stinks... I fully understand that people nearby do not want to breather in those fumes...
  17. Yet they still drive... ... "oh officer I forgot my licence" ... "no problem, 200 baht tea money" ... "thank-you officer".... A few hours / days later... .... something happens..... "Ahhhh... (panic)"... Hit accelerator and brake at he same time (left and right foot driving).. ... drives through the window of a shop / off a multi-story car park / into a school bus etc etc...
  18. Only to find that you do not have enough juice left to get you home. 555 You should have researched that... (as should the people who gave your comment a 'love'). Various answers on this... running your AC in an EV for an hour or so will not drain the battery The average EV can run the AC for 5-8 hours and only use up 10-30% of the battery.
  19. Let me help you.. The thread is clearly about a 'Driving licence' in reference to driving a car - Was the use of the word car numerous times not enough of a give away for you... ?
  20. I have recently travelled to Dubai, UK, France, Switzerland, Doha, Japan.... and only used cash in Japan about 25% of the time... the 'travel card' was extremely convenient... as is using a credit card. I'm probably about 95% cashless now - its incredibly convenient. But, its still useful to have cash at hand... and with the travel card you can with draw that any time, so no issue... there is no need to carry a load of currency to your destination any more. Paranoia... convenience is not the same as this 'government control' that some of you are becoming neurotic about.\ Seems like some people watched 1984 a little too much. Sounds like they stuffed that one up... At some point though they'll get it working so your phone works as the 'BTS card / Token' itself - just as they do in other countries, then its very convenient - its just a matter of time stepping in that direction. The 'relevant thread' highlights both sides of that argument, many find it a lot more convenient. Taxi-Meters don't drive into my Mooban in the hope of picking up a customer - Grab on the other hand come right to your door. And... what data am I giving them that I'd have any concern about, my trip history ?... Credit Card details.. Name, DOB.. is that really an issue ? Paranoid, very paranoid...
  21. With all the strange things going on with this forum, the obvious over use of AI in the news reports etc.... this wouldn't surprise me at all... But... Don't Gamma and GeorgiaGeorgia do the same ?
  22. I see others dropping litter... that doesn't make it socially considerate. I don't know of any 'stationary idling' laws in Thailand, but other countries do have them. You've already had your answers... It doesn't matter if others are asked not to run their car or not - its about what you do in your car and how or if you are considerate of those around you. Also, does it really matter the age of those who ask you to turn of your engine ???... the fact that someone asked is surely message enough, no ??? I'm actually struggling to understand what you are not understanding about this... Its kind of like not 'understanding' that smoking in a restaurant is antisocial... Not to be confrontational, but the fact that you felt the need to raise the question makes me wonder how in touch with reality you are... Diesel cars do smell a lot more than petrol cars particularly with the B7 Bio-Diesel... I've got an idea that Khun LA is just going to love... Get an EV... you can run your AC while waiting !!
  23. Not correct... The Thai courts ruled in favour of Dual Pricing....
  24. No worries... ... Give the Covid excuse a try.... though it may be a little late for that, its worth a pop... Otherwise... just bite the bullet and go through the full test and licensing process - look at it as a process to experience, roll with it, try and enjoy it (if thats possible)...
  25. Absolute nonsense. They are enforcing laws that would apply in your country. The number of farang that arrive in Thailand and jump on motorbike of all sizes and cruise past places such as soi 9 Pattaya or beach road end of Bangla Rd and expect no consequences. They don't even have bike license from home country. You've twisted your knickers there Jack... the discussion is about 'Driving Licenses' and 'driving'.... nothing to do with riding a motorcycle.... That said, I also agree that many come to Thailand and ride on the overseas 'Driving' license and thats illegal.. but thats not the discussion. While you brought it up... and as the discussion meanders and drifts... Is it ok to Ride a Motorcycle in the UK on a Thai Motorcycle License ? Any category limitations ? (as there is only one Thai Motorcycle licence compared to numerous categories in the UK).
