Brit vlogger moans about Hospital bill
richard_smith237 replied to proton's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Its pretty obvious what they were laughing at... Attention seeking twonk... I'm not sure whats more worrying, that this media goes national, or that there are 4.5 million people who pay attention to the t!t !!! And, the uneducated buffoon would do well to know that 'unidentified' injection would have been a saline drip to rehydrate him. Additionally, if he'd paid his £66 bill - it would have been itemised and he'd have known what it was. Food Poising ?... or Ketamine ? The only think I would agree with is - who wants to be in a hospital room without AC ??... -
Similar happened to me... The other party lied and lied, and then lied some more... until his lies became so obvious even the BiB became annoyed and shouted at him... This was all working out in my favour as the police who'd initially decided the incident was my fault, shifted in response to my polite but stubborn refusal to accept fault while I highlighted the flaws in the others guys lies.... Longer story than this but police soon shifted ideas and were not on his side !!!...
-
Thanks... but that begs the question why were the police transferring him in the first place ?... Is that not something an ambulance does ?... or, in Thailand, is this something the Police assist with and is the norm ? Or... Was he such a handful that transport via ambulance was not a suitable option, which then also begs the question, why was he not restrained... Questions more rhetorical than aimed at you LL, but of course, if you have answers, feel free to respond.

Family appeal for missing British man in Thailand

Do they even know which hotel he was staying out. He has apparently missed his flight... Have the Airline been able to confirm he didn't turn up... could he have changed his flight to a later date. IF he has simply missed his flight, then there is of course reason for very serious concern. -
Am I a cheating bad guy, or would you do the same?

I sort of knew that, and worded my heading accordingly. Solly! So, of course, after the below heading and response popped up on my feed.... Of course I opened the thread !!!... -
Very unlikely IMO - which makes it somewhat miraculous that they weren't severely injured. I understand the economic constraints that forces a family onto a Motorcycle instead of a car - but really, how expensive is a helemet compared to bike... I know I know... some people are so poor they can't afford a helmet, or thats the usual excuse... but is it really a viable excuse when it comes to the life of your child ?????

My biggest mistake here when selling a watch was... ... Going to a Rolex Dealer here and him undervaluing my watch (Explorer II) telling me he sells new ones cheaper than I was selling my second hand one for... ... My mistake - not saying, OK... I'll take two of them then !!! I sold it later in the UK (to WatchFinder) at a reasonable profit, althought they wouldnt take a Bell&Ross, I lost money on a Panerai and Frank Muller.... Expect to lose on a Tag... I haven't even bothered trying to sell my Tags (F1 and a Monaco Chrono)

Ah... got you... Nope... Friends work... We generally catch up for beers, dinner etc... Coffee is something I have on my own in the morning when I'm not away at work... Or... its something I have at work... not as good as the espresso machine at home - usually a French Press Coffee made with finely ground fresh beans, a finer grind than is usually used for a French Press, as I like my 'french press' coffee strong with a slightly 'muddy' texture which may be off-putting for some...
-
You're doing it wrong... IF you want to get readers attention you'd have you mention "Netizens outrage at Foreigners failing to submit their tax returns"... thats should get the juices flowing !!!... ....
-
No need to ruin it with a blade grinder then !!!...
-
Maybe you'd also dislike my coffee... if 'burr ground coffee' is your comparison point, your opinion would be irrelevant to me.... some people prefer 3in1 or instant and don't like freshly roast ground coffee (of any sort).... I don't go to coffee shops to strike up conversations with strangers... I've no need or want for that whatsoever. Are you the guy Georgegeorgia was talking about - going up to random guys and trying to start a conversation ??? You're not from NewZealand are you ?

How hard is it for the cars and riders to drive and ride in a straight line here ?? Its astonishing the amount of 'incidents' that happen because people fail to navigate a straight road !!!... Did his tyre blow out or something ??... luckily his kids were not seriously hurt, hope they were wearing helmets. Kwilco will be along soon to tell us all how we don't understand the complexities of driving here, we are all over convident and are terrib;e drivers / riders ourselves because we don't analyse the anatomy of an accident as he does !!!

I'd agree to a certain extent.. much of this could be in someone's head... But, how can this be explained to someone who doesn't know... Its like explaining the difference in comfort between a Mercedes and Toyota.... or rather, in the case of the ginder's its like explaining the difference in comfort between a Mercedes and Lada... where a 3-1 is a Maxi scooter... All get you from A-B... it just depends how 'enjoyable' you want the experience to be... ... Those who don't get it, will always throw the snobbery issue out there... Its not snobbery when one is better, but another can't understand that, or refuse to accept that. All coffee threads tend to degenerate into the '3-1 in is fine for me the rest are snobs' kind of comment - its pointless having the discussion with someone who doesn't 'get it'... ------ As far as going to many shops with expensive equipment not being very good... this would primarily be becasue they are economising with poorer quality beans..... its also because of the person involved making the coffee itself... even down to how hard one individual tamps a the basket compared to another... My Son makes better coffee than my Wife... He followed my instructions exactly.... wife kind of rushes it and the extraction is slightly more bitter.... I screw it up sometimes when I'm rushing things a bit too much.... I over or under tamp, or leave clusters etc... The ideal shot for me (from my machine): 18 gms coffee >> 36 gms output... in 30 seconds... When I over tamp I get the 18 gms coffee >> 36 gms output... in 38 seconds... and its bitter... When I under tamp, I get the 18 gms coffee >> 36 gms output... in 20 seconds... and its thin and under extracted. ... or when the grind is too coarse, it under-extracts, too fine and it over-extracts and is oily and bitter. None of this matters if you want a drip coffee and thats all you are after..
-
When in similar situations (camping or travelling to back and beyond)... I take pre-ground coffee.... (espresso grind)... And one of these...

Mix baby food.... make some Thai seafood sauce...

Completely agree... ... up until the point someone brings in some 'reverse snobbery' and states their 250 baht grinder is as good as any other grinder (implying burr grinders etc are over-rated etc)... which then highlights both their lack of understanding, lack of knowledge and ultimately lack of ability to tell the difference. Conversely.... I'm ok with the $10 bottle of wine, but thats an equivalent B700 wine in Thailand... ... but that really depends what food I'm eating... Can't find a $10 anything wine in Thailand... And can't fine a Barolo for under B1000 here either... but if I'm eating spicy sea food.... Mont Clair fruit wine is good enough for me.... Each to their own and tastes etc... But I wouldn't tell someone who's really into their wine that their B4000 baht or $80 whatever is a waste of money.... because of my flawed ability to identify the difference... its the same with a blade grinder.
-
That's garbage, buy one, only 250 baht and see what you can do with it Each to their own... I reluctant to use the word 'refined' as that alludes to a degree of snobbery which I don't want to bring into the fray.... But... perhaps your 'coffee tastes' are not refined enough to recognise the difference - I've used a 'blade grinder a couple of times'... (one which was made by Bodium of all companies) - it didn't last long at all. Accepted, a blade grinder may be ok for 'drip coffee'.... thats not something I drink - the closes I get is a French Press and I grind finer that conventional grind size for a French Press for a 'tighter press' and a more extraction - but the grind needs to be consistent.

Have we lost Dad to Thailand ?

Agree, trouble is they all know they don't want sex with their husband! "didn't want sex when their husband was a misogynistic bigoted pig" ..... there.... corrected it for you... -
How many road deaths are being cause by thieving scum ??... The guy who fell down the manhole cover, the guy in this story... Although it could be argued both should have been more careful... thats an incredibly unfair argument. Then there is also a lady who ended up in a conduit which on the side of the road. All these issues are from 'un-marked' open ditches (or poorly secured ditches) which authorities have not ensured are safe. Even if something is stolen, how long does it take for authorities to professionally respond ? ------- On another note: I kind of understand some pond-life scum thieving a manhole cover - they can sell the metal. But, who thieves a concrete slab from a pipe / cable conduit inside a road tunnel ???? IMO - this is BS and is just the authorities saving face, because some workers had removed the conduit to do some work and not bothered to replace it (that seems more likely IMO).

I think if you stay on a non o extension you have to get a Thai license,I think you are right and IDP only allowed if on tourist or visa exempt That is also as I understand it, though I have been asked in the past to show 'documentation' or a 'link' which highlights this and I have been unable to source such information - the specific regulations remain rather vague or inaccessible. However, as I understand it: IF a foreigner is in Thailand on a Resident Visa (i.e. Non Immigrant Visa), they must get a Thai Driving License within 90 days. This ties in with the general understanding that an IDP (accompanied by your national DL) is valid for 90 days from entry into Thailand.. The actual validity of the IDP: 1948 for 12 months and 1968 for 36 months - thats because they can also be used when travelling to 'another country' - but thats not the same as 'validity from first date of entry into Thailand.

Pattaya Removes Motorbike Taxi Stand to Restore Walkway Access

That sort of comment never gets old or loses it's hilarious originality, does it? You are suggesting that bribery is a complete myth in Thailand and this is something that doesn't exist because you can't find a link ?
