  1. Obviously its best to do this under medical advice (as always)... Would you be able to visit your Doctor who prescribes the Warfarin and tell him of your intentions to switch ? As I understand it (not medical advice) - The effects of Warfarin last 3-4 days (Rivoroxaban / 24 hrs)... Thus, allow for that when making the switch as its possible switching 'too early' i.e. a day after stopping warfarin will be equivalent to 'extra dosing'... If I was doing this myself I would consider stopping Warfarin for 4 days then making the switch, but dosage also needs to be considered... so seeing a knowledgable doctor is the only sensible option.
  2. No.... I stated my blood readings were stable and you decided to use parenthesis and a double question mark to highlight a version of that word. That can only be an expression of disbelief. It would be much more reasonable for you to 'back down', rather than justify your misuse of punctuation in this manner, and then decide you know my state of mind. My reply to you, after learning your readings greatly fluctuated, was to not follow my self-monitoring advice, but stay with a doctor. An attempt to assist, not be berated. I no longer have an interest in discussions with you about medications. There really is not need to be so cranky... I apologise if I've offended you some how... you're over reacting and looking for an argument that isn't there... Please relax... this is a good and useful thread and I believe I am contributing useful information to those both on Warfarin and its modern alternatives. I'll re-state... IF someone is on Warfarin and testing their INR on a Biweekly or Monthly basis this may not pickup up the same range swing that more frequent testing may identify... I t is this very range swing that makes the alternative such a viable option, but it must also be noted that the alternatives such as Rivoroxaban cannot be reversed in the same manner warfarin can.
  3. I assume this is a Thai Registered PayPal account ? NDID is required for Transfers of over 49,999 Baht - so if you want to check that you are registered for it, try and transfer 50,000 baht or more from one of your accounts to another (if you have two bank accounts) and see if it allows you.... (and asks to scan your face).
  4. The same thing that happens to the millions of Thai's who ride around unlicensed and who can't afford to pay the bills... ??
  5. Agreed.... the law actually exists in Thailand that it is illegal to rent vehicles (bikes and cars) out to tourists who do not have a License. In recent years the fallout of so many unlicensed tourists being injured and killed on motorcycles has led to announcements of crack-downs on rental establishments and reiteration of the law... ... Of course, this involves policing, so none of this happened, there has never been any enforcement or followup beyond periodic announcements. Rental companies do not check, they just do not care and why would they, there is no impact on them and when an unlicensed tourist does have an accident, they go after them for the repair costs anyway. ( I wonder if this lady was also forced to pay for damages to the motorcycle ).
  6. KrungThai Never any photo in the bank. Got a new card recently. Thanks for the Clarification... Then it seems that Krung Thai have circumnavigated the need for the ID to be verified and registered with your Face at the branch and this can now be done on Mobile Banking. In which case, IF KrungThai allow NDID for foreigners, this may also be possible on the Krung Thai Mobile App.
  7. Not at the time and place of my daughter's departure. If you want to pick holes and contradict you'll need to be specific... The Auto-gates are at Suvarnabumi, and have been in use for foreigners since December 2023 and there are reports of foreigners using those. So, if your daughter was departing internationally from Hat Yai airport in 2020 - then no... BUT.... IF your daughter is an adult, is one the approved nationalities to use the e-gates, was departing from Suvarnabumi last week - then she 'should' have been able to use the automated e-gates... And if fitting the criteria and was still unable to use the e-gate there may be another reason you are unaware of ? Was she told she couldn't ? was she digitally rejected at the e-gate ?? etc ?
  8. Perhaps with TG... a FF program may not have great value... and its certainly difficult enough to book award seats... We accrue mileage from our credit card - this gives us award seats when we can plan long enough in advance... Last award seats we booked (for travel this week) needed to be booked 330 days in advance - so I'd agree with you - the value of miles with TG is somewhat limited and can't be used with partner airlines.
  9. Interesting... Care to name these carriers that do not give you free additional baggage, do not give you cash+miles options, do not give you award seats (without enough miles), do not give you free choice of seat (with tier status), do not give you lounge access (with tier status) etc ?
  10. I detect a certain degree of 'generational promotion' which conveniently forgets that every generation throughout history has done dumb-s#it and berates following generations for their behavior and actions.... This 'back in my day' stuff... is always comical to read as its devoid of any evidence beyond the convenient and selective memories of self anecdote.
  11. So surprised to see you comment on this. (All nationalities are suspect) I agree... but while I am usually defensive of 'negative bias towards Brits' on this forum... it does seem that there is a disproportionate degree of these issues involving men from my country.... Hence my question... why are there more reports of British involved in this issue, are more nonces from the UK ? or is there another reason, i.e. English language news automatically associates with the UK more and pics news related stories ?... or is there some existing bias such that this news is more readily picked up on etc...
  12. Obviously, I don't test as often as someone with their own test kit. I'm a little confused as to why you highlighted the word stability, nor why the double question mark. It seems you are trying to discredit me by suggesting I'm lying. I don't engage with people who feel the need to go this route in the Health and Medicine forum. I truthfully relate my own medical knowledge and experience in the hope it helps others with similar ailments. No.. you are reading too much into the manner in which I punctuate a sentence and becoming defensive - there's no need for that, you can back down and take the comment as intended pls. I've highlighted that when testing INR regularly, 2-3 day, an INR swing of 1-5 was recorded - quite unstable. I've highlighted that when someone is testing every two weeks (or monthly) that INR swing through out the day would not be identified and the INR appears more stable. Thus my question how often are you tested ?... The reason I asked that is you stated... << That a big range swing, mine is much more stable. It has never gone outside the parameters by more than a few fractions >> The point I want to make is the more often the testing, the greater the likelihood of a 'greater swing' in INR results is identified. If getting tested once per month, on the same day, at the same time of day and your weekly habits are consistent, there is less likelihood that an INR swing will be identified... Thats all I wanted to point out, no criticism of your comments, questioning of your information, or accusations of lying...
  13. Absolutely agree... 2022 was full of articles and announcements that this regulation would be retracted... I think this is just regurgitation of the same - but definitely agree the rule is just dumb... ... its a dumb as the 11pm licensing rules we used to have in the UK. Stop this nonsense... indeed, nonsense it is. ------- I'm waiting for the "if you can't go without a drink between 2-5pm you have a problem" type comments !!! - these puritanical comments always appear on a booze thread !!! Or.. 'we're just guests here, their rules... if we don't like it go home !!!...'
  14. Without jumping out to the full article on Thaiger, I didn't see any reference in the AN post to indicate she was unlicenced or didn't hold a motorcycle class licence ... As her Insurance did not cover her - its a fair assumption to make that she was not licensed to ride a motorcycle. Unless specifically stated that 'coverage for any motorcycle riding is excluded' most insurance policies will exclude coverage for riding motorcycles for those without a home motorcycle license. The issue here 'could' be that her (car) driving license has an enforcement for low-powered motorcycles (A and AM endorsements) which basically covers only up to something similar to a 50cc moped type vehicle.
  15. I don't think its the scoffing and scorning at actually renting a bike... As you mention, a bike is great way to get around... Its the not knowing they are not insured when people do so that people are throwing scorn at. I actually hate the idea that the most convenient means of transport and one widely used by so many travellers frequently ends up with such financially devastating consequences.... I believe insurers could be a lot more transparent about motorcycles rental..... and simply state - YOU ARE NOT COVERED TO RENT A MOTORCYCLE (on the first page etc)... They could even go as far as having a very 'clear' additional premium for those wishing to rent a bike... (at extra cost etc - which supersedes the licensing or rather lack of licensing issue).
  16. That a big range swing, mine is much more stable. It has never gone outside the parameters by more than a few fractions. I wouldn't suggest you follow my plan, you should definitely remain under the care of your doctor. How often are you testing to evaluate that 'stability' ?? With my own test kit I took a scientific approach and tested regularly, sometimes 3x per day and at least every day - this is where I noticed the 'swing'..... Most people will get tested every 2 weeks or so, or every month - and when they do its usually at the same time of day etc and they are following similar dietary / lifestyle patterns.... so a range swing may not be identified. For example: If I had some booze the INR would go high... the dosage of Warfarin had a 3.5 day lag time... Thus, if I new I was going for dinner and drinking wine, I'd cut back a little on the dosage - it worked very well and I plotted the results in excel against diet, exercise etc... Dr was incredibly surprised when he saw all this, kind of lost for words - he'd never seen such a study. All moot now as Warfarin has been surpassed by far better medication, although one positive of warfarin still, is that it is reversible.
  17. Erm.... Have you ever read an insurance policy ?? (pointed out above) - I have a dedicated 'Travel Insurance' Policy for an upcoming trip... Its 117 pages long... impossible to read all of it (ok, not 'impossible' but you get my point), as far as 'understanding all of it' ?? No... You'd need to be a medical professional and a Lawyer with patience of a saint to go back on all the circular referencing. All I know is that it covers: - Trip Cancellation (for specific reasons - listed) - Loss of Baggage (costs to replace necessary items). - Theft coverage (only under certain circumstances). - Medical costs (injuries incurred while skiing - this is why I needed the policy as my medical policy is vague on this). - Car rental 'damage excess'. I'm quite sure that if 'something happens' there will be a flight over some of the policy wording... I hope not of course, and have gone with a policy that has a decent international ranking ($220 for 3 of us for 10 days)... But... you never know until something happens... and then on this forum we'll have people who state... You should have read and understood the policy !!!!
  18. All the Travel Insurance policies I had in the UK covered motorcycles/scooters up to and including 125cc....this was some time ago and possibly things could have changed since then Obviously all policies vary.... but I think for the most part, people are not covered if they are not licensed (at home). In this case I wonder if there was any 'Scooter vs Motorcycle' wording in the policy. I have a current Travel Insurance Policy for an upcoming trip.... The Policy is 117 pages long... The Policy is confusing. It states I cannot ride a motorcycle without a home license. It also states in a separate section, Scooter / Motorcycle >> There's a Special Exclusion (V)... I can't find a Special Exclusion's section in the Policy... I cant see anything about size of engine that indicates scooter or motorcycle. My takeaway of course is that I'm not insured at all to ride a Motorcycle in Thailand unless I have a home license. (I do actually have a Thai Motorcycle license, but thats irrelevant, this insurance is for overseas and I wont be using a motorcycle). My point here - is did the girl really believe she was insured to ride a 'scooter' in Thailand without a license ? Is there any policy wording here that dictates this ? Or did she rent a motorcycle / scooter without any consideration to insurance ?
  19. Absolutely, that Thaiger News is a load of <deleted> Completely agree - there isn't a Thaiger article that isn't incomplete, inaccurate or not full of contradictory information. On another thread, someone suggested The Thaiger was like a Satire News site without the humour !!... Usually, the inaccuracies are due to very poor translations from a Thai Article, re-written by Thai writers who clearly lack experience and QC skills... In this case the article is written by a lad called 'Bob Scott' who we may assume is a native English speaker, but clearly lacks QC skills to proof read his own work... even something as basic as 'died vs didn't die' !!!
  20. It was one of those 'knee-jerk' laws that were put in place overnight by the Military Junta in 1972.... no one in a decision making capacity or connected to those involved in such laws questioned the ridiculousness of it - why ?... Kraeng-Jai... 'don't question those more senior' !!! - the laws have been more strictly enforced in the last 15 years or so.... Also about 10-15 years ago a law was put in place that it was illegal to sell alcohol within 500m of a School.... with so many schools around this was virtually a physical impossibility in any built up area... so this law was pretty much ignored !! The idea behind all of this is to prevent school kids from drinking.... And as with much of Thailand there is a 'blanket' legislation kneecapping the whole of society rather than dealing with the actual issues at hand - penalising those who sell alcohol to minors.
  21. As pointed out above... non-Thai's can use auto-departure gates (no need for an exit stamp).
  22. How would pp get stamped? Automatic departure gates are in use for Non-Thai's.... There is no stamp in your passport if exiting via the auto-gates... the departure is registered digitally against your immigration record thats all.
  23. From various threads on this subject... I don't think being married makes any difference because the person who decides if you can use that lane or not doesn't check your marital status etc. I think its just comes down to 'whatever' the decision maker at the time is thinking or feeling... or even if they are bothered at all if you are simply accompanying a Thai. I'm not sure there are any hard enforced rules and this is why experiences vary so much when we are trying to understand some sort of rule when there is a large degree of flexibility. I think it just comes down to whoever is managing the queues at the time & by the time you get to an Immigration officer, for the most part they simply stamp you in.
