I haven't... but knowing that paracetamol is just paracetamol I've never specifically 'sought out' the Boots brand. Any reason why you are specifically looking for boots, when exactly the same product is sold under a different name such as Tylenol ?

The boomers are going to love this one... but they'll also be right, this is a concern... Theoretically, If the wrong passcode goes in my phone (10x) it will wipe it. If my phone is lost, I an wipe it remotely - but only IF it has an internet connection (for that 'wipe' command to be sent). Also, two tier and facial (only) authentication stops a lot of potential issues. I used to have a coupe of phones - one for the girls I was serious about, another for the girls I was playing with. I'm now considering two phones again - one for serious use (banking etc), another for regular use (out and about - where there is a higher risk of loss).

You're pathetically exhausting... - You're getting mixed up between a model name and a variety of Motorcycle... You really want a 5 page debate about what is and what isn't a scooter ??? (this will be my last comment on this point as I'm not going to get dragged into some irrelevant anally retentive nit-picking about the word scooter when I've already shown how widely used and accepted it is). Wrong..

Thai customs halt import of Chinese elephant-patterned trousers
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nope... Nope... Yes... Indeed, many countries apply tariffs on products imported from overseas (which don't meet mutual import and trade agreements)... but, are customs really going to bothered about Elephant Pants when they're getting so much more for all the 'imported luxury cars ripped off from other countries' ??... its easy to just make a knee-jerk sweeping announcement and then forget about it !! -
Exactly... in standard tablet form: Boots 500mg Paracetamol is the same as Panadol 500mg Paracetamol or Tylenol 500mg Paracetamol... Its like water... Sprinkle, Evian or Montfleur etc.. its all the same mostly and may vary with packaging and perhaps a slightly different coating... but thats about it.

Tylenol is the popular brand here - can get a bottle from pretty much any pharmacy or supermarket.

OK.. the insurance policy wording of an international company is wrong for using the word scooter. Wikipedia is wrong for using the word scooter. Manufacturers are wrong for using the word scooter. Publications and the media are wrong for using the word scooter. Anybody who uses the word scooter is wrong. ... and you are right... Got it... And the word 'car' is wrong... because you insist it should only be called an automobile...

100% agreed - as mentioned a couple of times in previous threads - this media outlet is shockingly poor, its more like Satire without the humour - for its own credibility, AN should stop linking to Thaiger. As others point out - whats being done about this ? someone driving illegally causing devastating injuries... Are they not accountable for medical costs and compensation ??? Yet again - the only surprise here is no 'go fund me' has been set up (yet).

Staying at mil's house
richard_smith237 replied to mrloy99's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Do not give the 10,000 baht tip - thats just a rip off and insulting you to your face. The Amphur officers obviously do not 'want' to go through the paper work of issuing the Yellow Book because its a lot of paperwork and time consuming for them, so some (a lot it seems), seem to want to dissuade you by telling you that you cannot, that they are too buys, or you have to make an appointment etc... Ultimately, they can't 'not give it to you'.... So.. Just be polite and stubborn, ask to see the boss if they are being difficult etc, make an appointment etc... But don't become a door mat. -
You won't even get the prime crab meat that goes in the Jai Fai omelette for 60 baht !!!... not even close, you may get some other crappier parts of a mud-crab for 60 baht in your local 'mom & pop' shophouse restaurant. Knowing that difference is the actual difference between someone engaging in reverse-snobbery and those who have a clue...

You believe you cook better food than that served in a Michelin stared eatery... a brilliant show of hubris...
-
OK.. so you're a cheap Charlie who believes you know better than the Michelin inspectors... ... who'd have thought it... here on this very forum, a man of such esteemed distinction..... Its always the same... laymen of limited *education believe they know better than the experts because they believe they can cook for themselves and do better). (*in this context I'm not referring to academic education, but culinary education).

Coldplay concert buzz dampened by cannabis fumes in Bangkok
richard_smith237 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Indeed, rather than a criticism, this story highlights how moderate and developed Thailand is in some aspects... I'm not into weed at all (perhaps the odd gummy to help sleep sometimes), but I find it extremely positive how moderate Thailand is with this issue... (although I'm also extremely cynical as to why)... That people could openly smoke weed at a concert is excellent IMO.... and I don't even like the smell if it and find it quite pungent, but I like the freedoms involved with permitting it. -
Be warned: AirAsia customer service!
richard_smith237 replied to agg211's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Indeed... one of the most frustrating issues of dealing with anything that 'drifts off the plan' it's incredibly frustrating as it becomes harder and harder to get through to a human to resolve a very simple issue. Its worse with budget operations and why I try where-ever possible to avoid Budget Airlines. -------- An extremely frustrating example recently (visa issue). Flying to UK, Via a Dubai Stop over - went to book the Wife's UAE transit visa (which I've done numerous times before, link Via Emirates Airlines and is a 5 minute process)... No go, the application kept stalling, something was wrong. I contacted the Airline, they said its a Visa issue, not their issue. Tried chat and got Chat-Bots, when I did get through to someone they said try again tomorrow. When I e-mailed I got an Auto-Response (4 of the same responses to 4 e-mails over a week). As the Travel date drew closer we were going to have to change flights or my wife would be stuck inside the airport for 24 hours unable to leave. Finally I got though to a human (after well over a week), for some reason the system wouldn't recognise the ticket booking reference and all they had to do was put in their own 'dummy reference' and that was that - problem solved in minutes (but only after 9 or 10 days of messing around and building concern. So much hassle for such a simple issue - Customer service has long become an oxymoron, especially for customers who've already 'spent their money' and are requiring 'after service' rather than 'sales service'... -
International driving license for Thai local licence
richard_smith237 replied to Lamphen's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Is your Thai Drivers License full 5 Year License ?? If so, you should be able to get an International Driving Permit - the person at the DLT who declined you doesn't know what they are talking about - Go to an alternative DLT office. IF your Thai Drivers Licence is a 2 year Temporary Licence, then no, you cannot get an IDP. -
No... nothing of the sort. The 6 month remaining passport validity is only a requirement to enter 'some' countries (that are not your home country). You cannot be refused Check-in for a flight with the UK as the final destination with a passport of less than 6 months validity. There may be some excepts IF your flight involves a transit where you have to exit Immigration of the transiting country (depending on their regulations of a 6 month passport validity).

I posted the Policy Wording of my Travel Insurance... (a few threads back) - the word Scooter is used in that... Its since been mentioned that the Policy Wording is not the policy itself - but still, it is an explanation of the policy. I'm sure I could dig more examples out - but you'll just find some manner of arguing that black is in fact white so its a waste of time.

KrungThai bank face detection
richard_smith237 replied to BenStark's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
OK... Thats more inline with my understanding of NDID... (that everyone has to go into the Bank to get their face scanned). ... its also indicates that information provided by Neeranam is misleading. -
When someone makes a thread about shark-fin soup and dumplings, you'll know exactly where to recommend then... Jai Fai is the Michelin star place you are referring to.... and no, for 60 baht you wont get anything close to the Crab Omelette which made that restaurant famous - the cost of the Crab Claw meat used is significantly greater.

I agree, I kind of forgot about the Thai food bit.. the place itself is probably one of the nicest 'house restaurants' in Bangkok. Best Thai food itself (IMO) is probably Sri Trat that I mentioned, but then the compromises is on the 'homey & quaint' part. The 7% + 10 % add on is pretty much par for the course at the majority of decent restaurants in Bangkok these days... ....unless eating at the places KhunLA considers 'homey and quant'... in which case there may be an extra charge if you ask them to turn on the AC...

Fair enough... its clear I do not know the difference between Policy Wording (as provided to me along with my Certificate of Cover) and the actual Policy itself, as it relates directly to me (and my family). Is the Policy Wording (the 117 page document) in conjunction with the Policy Document - not the 'Policy' itself and all that it covers (or excludes ?)... OR.. will there be a legally signed document somewhere with the Actual Policy itself ? i.e. IF for some reason a claim were to be refused, what document would I check to fall back on ??? Would that not be the Policy Wording Document issued to me ??? As BenStark mentioned above.... 'if it has to be explained to me, I won't get it' ... Well, clearly it does need to be explained to me and this is something I and perhaps many others need to understand, it seems you are the right guy LL to explain it.
