I'm in the camp of those who happen to think that those old Elite packages were value for money for people who wished to stay in Thailand long-term, but didn't qualify for any other long-term visa/extension. But really, you're exaggerating here, how could it pay for itself "in a few months". That's just hyperbole. It's essentially a long-term tourist visa, and a regular tourist visa would cover "a few months" - at a much lower price. I've got to agree... Years back I worked out that my 1 Million Baht fee paid for itself in a approximately 8 years and years later I realise its been great value for money (and is a life time membership)... ... Especially as I can sell it on and the buyer would get 30 years passed on to them... (I'm married so no longer really have the need for the Elite Membership anymore, I've had offers but they were lowballers, it wasn't worth selling it as its still extremely convenient). But... I am very intrigued as to how someone could work out how 600,000 baht has paid for itself in a few months, or even 2.5 years in-fact.

Documents required to buy a New Honda Scooter

Separate issue... Do you also have a Motorcycle Licence here ? (its a separate card from the driving Licence). IF your Aussie Drivers License also has an endorsement for small bikes (50cc scooters etc) you may get away with being able to get a Motorcycle license straight away from that. -

5 year Drivers License Renewal at Bang Jak on Tourist Visa?

No, you can't register at a land office with your expired DL... (the info about registering with the Land Office was on another thread whereby someone mentioned it was possible to get a letter of residence from the Amphur office - I've never done this or even know if its possible, but if you become stuck - its an avenue to persue). On another concurrently running thread (about registering a bike in Phuket) it was mentioned that in Phuket you dont need to have submitted a 90 day report to obtain a Certificate of Residence from Immigration - you just need to have submitted a TM30. Thus: best to try and get the Certificate of Residence from Immigration (and ensure you have already submitted the TM30 before hand - and have a record of that).... (I'm not sure if that works in Bangkok, but worth a try). -
Wouldn't it just... though added confusion would exist for those expatriated from the EU (i.e. no longer tax resident in the UK - thus would a reciprocal agreement work for us then ?). Obviously, reciprocal agreements would only work in government hospitals, but, that would be great - I'm in my 40's but already concerned about what happens in my 70's... when I can't afford the extremely high insurance premiums or worse still, can't get insurance at all.

On this point... If I'm not mistaken, as of a few years ago Work Permits no longer contain the holders residential address, thus, this can no longer be used. Additionally, a lot of Embassies / consulates have stopped their notarial services and won't provide the Affirmation of Residence. The Certificate of Residence from Immigration is one of few options remaining. -

I was told 30 days. It does not say anything about validity on the Certificate of Residence, though. You may well be right... I don't have much to do with the CoR as I always use Yellow House Book as proof of address. I do recall years ago (at CW Immigration Bangkok) they would only issue the CoR if I had submitted a 90 day report - it was valid for 90 days then (probably due to it being somehow linked to having done a 90 day report)... It makes sense that if a 90 day report is no long needed then the validity is less (i.e. 30 days as you state). Anyway - easy enough for the Op to go in around the same time his bike is due for delivery. -

No im only back a week. I'll bring my girl with me and should be able to talk them around. This is all new to me, I just expected they would come with red plates. If it comes with no plates I can still drive it out of there and if I get stopped (which is likely) I just say I just bought it and need to register it? I wouldn't mind choosing my own plate, whats the restriction in regards to that? It may come with red plates (ask the dealer) as in places such as Phuket the Police could be a little 'greasier' than they are in Bangkok - So IMO, best to have red plates (ask for this when booking the bike) - Others who've bought bikes in Phuket will know more about this. The process to 'choose your own plates' is basically the registration process that the dealer would otherwise go through. IF this is the case, the dealer doesn't need anything other than payment. The Certificate of Residence is for the Registration process. - You go to the DLT (registration counter - you'll have to fund that) - You'll need your Bike details chassis number etc (and purchase receipt). - You choose 3 numbers you like - At another counter they tell you which of those numbers are available and you chose one. - They take your Certificate of Address and give you a receipt (which states your new number) - You give the receipt to your dealer - the plate takes a few weeks, when its ready the dealer will contact you to get it fixed. There is no clarity on the length of validity of the Certificate of Residence - I always thought it was 90 days. You don't need to show the Certificate of Residence for purchase - its only needed for Registration, so you can go and get when the bike is ready to be picked up (note - sometimes there is a wait for the Certificate of Residence unless they are Ok to take a 'donation' for this to be fast tracked) That will all be fine. As per farang51 (with local Phuket knowledge I assume) - no need for a 90 day report - so it should be easy for you to get a Certificate of Residence. -

That's an easy one... the dealers who tell you that you need a work permit don't know what they are talking about - its just a generic requirement the know about. Just tell then you will get a Certificate of Residence from Immigration and thats all thats needed. Your listed documentation will be fine to obtain the Certificate of Residence (it won't hurt to have a lease agreement at hand too, and the TM30).. Have you also submitted a 90 day report ? (some immigration offices also as for this) - if you haven't.. don't worry too much about this you may not need if you explain to Immigration that you need the certificate to register you motorcycle. IF they still insist on a 90 day report before issuing the Certificate of Address, then just wait a little longer before you register your bike. You'll be able to ride the bike as soon as you pay for it (and pick it up) - it may either have red plates or no plates at all, its best to try and get the red plates, but many bike dealierships don't bother with this. They may also take over a month to get the bike registered. I have registered numerous bikes and cars myself as I didn't want to wait for the dealership to deal with it, especially as my Bikes were delivered without any numberplate at all and I didn't like that. Its actually easy enough to do the actual registration part yourself (I've done it myself with my last 3 cars and 3 motorbikes - just because I wanted to make sure it was done and not wait for the months it takes the garage to deal with it (and chose my own number plate). But usually, the dealership will deal with all that - and all they need is your Passport and Certificate of Address. -
Fast Track Bangkok Airport
richard_smith237 replied to LauChan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Good question - it would good to have a first hand answer to this. There are no e-gates at fast-track (which I always use with Thai Elite) so I've never had the chance to try the e-gates on departure. Surely there are some posters who have by now ... It'd probably be quicker than fast-track anyway, but the delay would exist going through security rather than immigration itself. Those with re-entry permits are told not to use the e-gates (for some reason - perhaps it invalidates their extension of stay) - I'd be slightly concerned about re-entering Thailand without a an exit stamp though... but thats just the luddite in me being cautious of change. Recent experience in this thread... (link below). https://aseannow.com/topic/1316296-suvarnabhumi-automated-passport-gates-not-available-for-visa-holders-with-re-entry-permits/page/2/ -

Its safe to assume the Op doesn't have this or he'd have sufficient knowledge of being here and required documentation required for Bike registration etc... and hence, not need to ask the question in the first place. -

No.. a drivers licence is not considered a valid proof of address with which to register your motorcycle in your name. You will need to obtain a letter of Address from your local immigration (Phuket Immigration Office). a) Certificate of Address - you get this from an Immigration Office, but they may want to see that you have submitted a 90 day report (some immigration offices want to see a 90 day report other's are not bothered about it) - Hopefully this is not a requirement for you, if you have not submitted a 90 day report and they require that, you may still be able to plead your case (mileage may vary here). Note: The Australian Embassy and its consulates in Thailand no longer issue Affirmation Address. https://phuket.consulate.gov.au/pket/Notarialservices.html -

Well said - the bigots can't help themselves... they are so stupid they are unable to see the hypocrisy of their distorted bigoted bias opinions.... The idiocy of some of these posters is impressive. Any of us can find links which show a scourge of child molesters throughout many nations... they are a vermin on society, as are bigots. Fast Track Bangkok Airport
richard_smith237 replied to LauChan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
What statement? I am sharing my experience. I stated that 'I've not seen dedicated lane for Thai's on departures'... You contradicted that with the statement 'there is, electronic gates'... that is a statement, and it is incorrect. Your experience is likely to be out of date and thus you are wrong - Electronic gates can be used by both Foreigners and Thai's, meaning this is not a 'dedicated Thai Lane'... -

richard_smith237 replied to LauChan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There was a long line of people departing and some Thais walked past us with their passports held high. My daughter and I followed them doing the same, as did a foreigner and his woman. At the bottom of an escalator there was an officer who allowed us through but not the foreigner. The Electronic gate was only for Thai passports. You should perhaps start fact checking your statements. -
he doesn't seem to care to acknowledge that. he's on a roll. The brain obviously consumed way too much cabbage... t'was an exceptionally long brain fart !!!...

Transfer money by Phone app.
richard_smith237 replied to Peterphuket's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Confused. Currently I have limits which include 500,000 baht to other SCB Account and 2,000,000 baht for bill payment. I can change the limits easily and quickly on SCB App and from memory most recent max transfer using APP has been about 400,000 baht. Am I missing something? I can't be sure... have you signed an NDID waver ?? In 2023 all banks in Thailand had to start using a 'facial recognition system' for mobile transfers (as a measure in fraud prevention). This system is called NDID - National Digital ID, whereby our Identification is matched to facial recognition for any mobile transfer of 50,000 baht and over. The NDID set up needs to carried out at our Bank. Some Banks such as Bangkok Bank are set up for foreigners to use this system. Other Banks, such as SCB are not set up for foreigners to use this system. Foreigners unable to register for the NDID system cannot execute a mobile transfer above 49,999 baht unless they sign a waver absolving the bank of any responsibility should there be fraudulent activity. Transfers below 50,000 baht can be carried out without this NDID requirement. You mentioned that recently you made a 400,000 baht transfer from your SCB account - so its likely you have either signed the waver, or you have somehow slipped through the gaps. Either way - I wasn't happy with having to sign the waver with SCB so moved everything across to Bangkok Bank where I have NDID working. Note: This is obviously not the issue the Op is having as he mentioned his transaction is 20,000 baht - his issue is likely that he's trying to take a screen-shot before the transaction is fully executed. -
And no I'm not... But you can see that already...

Oh borrox... Right you are !!..... Brain fart !!.... 300 Million... (but you knew it was a typo already). I didn't even see the error after it was pointed out... Twice !!! Anyway - as per the links (and embedded copy of the key info from the link). The numbers are 300 Million & 29 Billion - with the medical cost burden of unpaid tourist bills at 1% of the income to the medical industry from tourism.
