  1. Best place... depends what type of car you are looking for.. Some dealerships offer certified second hand vehicles which are sold under warranty... thats the safest option, although you'll pay a little more. Other options depend on the age of the second hand car, i.e. if its within its warranty period. For pricing and seeing whats out there, one2car.com is a good resource.
  2. Oh I don't know about that.... In this forum alone I've seen guys go down down the rabbit hole of ridiculousness to avoid admitting they were simply wrong !!...
  3. Nothing wrong in asking them to move it at all.... especially if its blocking simple access to you car-port etc, and especially if you are asking people politely. ... No offence to your You're wife, but she seems a bit backward a paranoid... When you asked him if he was going to move it, were you asking in Thai or in English ??... if not in Thai he may have blanked you because he had no idea what you were on about. If you don't speak Thai, its going to be difficult to deal with as your Wife clearly doesn't want to get involved. One thing is for sure - if you don't deal with this now, the sense of entitlement will kick in and the car will always be parked there, even when they getting running. Is there room for them to park it outside of their own house ? Best option is to go to the owner's house and ask if they can move it, offer to help them move it..
  4. For those who are getting re-entry permits, Thailand is not a holiday resort, its home, so they are are not in a situation to want to maximise their time 'holidaying'... That said, I also agree that this can very easily be done at the airport... This has been discussed on this forum before and the excuses given by some are that they find travelling stressful and don't want the added stress of potentially forgetting, so doing the re-entry permit in advance is one thing less to worry about. IMO - if someone is worrying about forgetting the solution is simple - Put a post-it note in your passport next to your entry stamp.
  5. You've could save the tax payers of your country millions.... No need for investigations... the Police can just employ you... 'just to look at people'....
  6. You've never seen a full face helmet ???
  7. True... there was no ticket on our car when it was clamped - Wife actually phoned the local police station who then sent out Plod on their motorcycle - we were lucky we didn't have to go to the station and waste a lot more time. Another time, we saw the policeman nearby 'doing another car'... we just gave him some money and he undid the clamp. So.. I'm not sure they actually do give out tickets, the mere act of clamping means you've been caught out... Although that could be different in different areas and even with different policemen.
  8. Agreed... no need to stick around if your taxi is involved in an accident, but just because of the inconvenience... Nothing to do with possibly being held responsible which is just a typical bar-stool myth perpetuated by bar-stool idiots trying to sound knowledgable to a newbie... And.. when you mention 'less rights' are you talking about ???... Obviously not voting.... but are you implying that a Western Passenger has less 'legal rights' than a Thai Passenger with regards to facing potential blame ?... if so, or you're suggesting something similar thats just bore barstool halfwittery...
  9. Are you for real Jim ???...... Such an idiotic comment... these myths have been spread by the bar-stool ex-special servicemen for decades....
  10. Astonishing that any debate could be sparked over this... Other than... what people are putting on the internet (TikTok) for attention these days is simply astonishing... ... Its more astonishing that it draws comment.... and there I go, adding to the ridiculous BS with my own comment... oh no, I am now a netizen !!!...
  11. Indeed.. and for whatever reason the truck was stopped... close behind it, riding closely infront of it, closely to the side of it (especially the inside if turning) is an extremely dumb endeavour... Riding underneath it takes that stupidity to new heights.
  12. I think it has more to do with FAA regulations regarding visibility and range.
  13. The article states the video was shared by the 'TikTok user, @_neung132, who appears to be a traffic police officer in the Phuket province'... But, it is not mentioned who actually filmed the video... my guess is a member of public did and then sent it to the BiB, who then shared it. (as usual - the article lacks a certain clarity). Generally, if caught parking illegally, the BiB lock your vehicle, then move on to other vehicles on their rounds and return to the station. If your vehicle is locked you can't see the BiB nearby, you then have to go to the station, pay the fine, then bribe the BiB to 'ride back to your vehicle to unlock it' on your time, or just hang around for them to do it when they are ready.
  14. But the 'divorce rate' of 50% is often cited, but also somewhat misleading... When you take away those who where married straight out of high-school, those who are not university educated, those who had children before marriage, those from broken homes (whose parents divorced) the divorce rate drops to below 20%... Some of the above may trigger some people, but its a reality that can't be apologised for whether its an objectionable reality or not... of course there are exceptions... As per the Op, I do look at some couples and wonder what on earth, and then I see others and they look like they just 'fit' and it can be observed how natural they are in each others company. What makes you attractive to another person and them to you ?.... 'Game'... when all the other things are in place, having character makes that next step work.
  15. Erm.. Well yep.. posts usually have a point... of course, posts don't have to have a point, but then they seem just random as yours did.
  16. There's apparently been an update.. those from the colonies are now wearing their speedo's everywhere !!! Mullet and tash is still in...
  17. He's also wearing cargo shorts and sliders.... he's dressed disrespectfully too.. Didn't he read up on the culture before travelling here ?
  18. Its not just you... another poster [Negita43] has also posted a thread about this... So it defaintely appears that some guys either do not know about keyboard short cuts, or are just not used to them and are in the habit of using the a 'Top of Page' button on the webpage itself... So... it would be wise for AN to put it back - there's no reason to take it off. In the mean time, posters who want a home button still have convenient options.
  19. You're not the only one.... Another poster [sirineou] made the same complaint yesterday... - You can also use your keyboard shortcut if you want to jump straight to the top of a webpage. - Or on the phone tap the status bar at the top (iOS and Android)
  20. Amazing, never noticed that button on my keyboard before, and it works. But what about when I'm using my phone or tablet? Just tap the top of the screen (status bar) - works for both Android and iOS...
  21. This... hypocrisy detector hitting Max !!!!... I do no know of a single Thai motorist who follows the Thai laws !!!... Yup.. he parked in the wrong place and was wheel locked... Happened to me with the car a couple of times, no biggie, just call the jollies to come and remove it and pay the 200 baht fine.... The foreigner was obviously an idiot for attempt to break the chain..... but for others to call for 'legal charges' does start to smell of xenophobic over-reaction... If it was a Thai guy would the same sanctimonious puritans ask for clarification of charges ?
  22. Jeffing utter idiot - I hope they throw the book at him... No one (anywhere) should be free to carry a handgun - there is no reason to, not even self defence. The strictest penalties should be sought for anyone caught carrying any weapons - Knifes, Guns etc... ------- I recall a story of an expat in Pattaya... driving past a supermarket, he heard a noise and his daugher started crying. He stopped the car and saw that a bullet had gone through his door, it hit the metal buckle of his daughers car seat (which saved her life) - If I recall his post correctly, he moved back home pretty quickly.... ... These stories highlight that Thailand is more dangerous than many of our home nations - deadly random incidents seem to occur more often through complete fluckwittery, idocy, selfishness and a lack of enforcement - we may have the first three of those in our home nations but even with weakened police force the enforcement is still a lot strong and better to protect the general public from itself. *I know the 'no guns' comment will upset and trigger some Americans... I don't care - I see any support of carrying guns quite simply as stupid, I've never been even remotely convinced otherwise by any argument.. any argument at all.
  23. Well done Pilot - everyone safe, no souls risked.... If the visibility at the destination airport is below regulations diverting to an alternative airport with sufficient fuel is somewhat of an SOP no-brainer... only an idiot would criticise this.
  24. Are we going to see the same 'netizen' out-rage as we did with the girls sunbathing on the grass ??? Is a task force of policemen going to be sent to reprimand these bogans for upsetting Thailands sensitivities ??? There has to be 'some outrage' right ??... And of course, we can expect the "they give all of us farangs a bad name" type comments... Along with "what is it with these arrogant toursts that they do not learn the local culture and customs?"..... ... just two bogan tools thinking they are funny.... I will of course agree with most of the predictable comments... these guys are an embarrassment to whatever nation they are from (I've made my guess).... Surely there were authorities at the airport to tell them "no grow up !!"
  25. I hope the irony is not lost on you commenting on a thread 2 months after and talking about the next day !!!
