  1. I don't believe so at all.. its not perfectly safe at all.. neither riding a motorcycle here as dangerous as some make out... I ride a motorcycle here... and follow my own strict rules... - Never while drinking - Never at night - Never in the rain (unless impossible) - Wear Gear (Full face helmet (or open if very travelling very locally), good gloves, footwear, jacket with back protector) I'm acutely aware that motorcycling is not 'perfectly safe'... we can only minimise the risk as best we can by riding intelligently.... Even riding as safely as possible, we're still safer in the flatbed of a pickup when its driven by a sensible driver. The issue of course then becomes, how well do we trust the driver if we were to be in the flat-bed of a pickup !!...
  2. It obviously wasn't obvious to me. Not many people have a car and a motorcycle. Hence.... the losing marbles and slow on the uptake comment... ... I thought you were just 'thieving urine' actually... (taking the pee)... I just use one, and have done for many years. I was clearly wrong...
  3. What many others do and get away with would be irrelevant to me - I certainly wouldn't want to be accountable for people riding in flat bed of a vehicle I am driving.... ... I have a 100% seatbelt rule in my car... Which of course, I've broken a couple of times when we cram 5 or 7 people into our car when going to a restaurant etc... But... In Bangkok, is there really any need for people to be riding in the flatbed of a pickup when there are so many taxi's and the sky-train. That said..... when considering perspective.. do we over react when we consider the safety of people being in a flat bed but ignore people on a motorcycle - surely being in a pickup-flat bed is a lot safer than being on a motorcycle ?????
  4. Ah, understood... So the 'extra 1500 baht' is something you considered worth it to have them do the extra leg work for you... For Immigration extensions etc.. Yes, we have to be present (for 90 day reports not).
  5. A good diversion tactic... unless of course they double down and charge you for both (whatever it was the pilled you for and no licence).... Quick Point: There is a DLT App... (theoretically) as of Sept 2019 you no longer need to show your physical licence at a Police stop or check-point, you can show the app (which has a picture of your License on it)... ... I believe this is legal where as a regular photo may not suffice. ... Whether the BiB are up to date with this App and updated regulation is yet to be seen.
  6. Agreed... while we are discussing the negative encounters, positive encounters must also be highlighted.... the very same as you describe above has also happened to me here.
  7. Indeed.... Why would The Thaiger and auther [Puntid Tantivangphaisal] bother doing that ????... The Story is from November 2020... republishing a years old story as fresh news removes any thin veil of credibility that media source has.
  8. Try this thread here... its tells you all about it.... https://aseannow.com/topic/1317702-pink-id-card-for-foreigners/#comments
  9. Now you are just being stupid Mr Richard. Explain why ??? When 0james states he has 2 Licences in his wallet (obviously motorcycle and car)... Neeranam asks why and states he has used only one for years... The question is asked to highlight the silliness and obfuscation in many of his responses. I agree, Why do you need 2 DLs?
  10. As above, it was my understanding that for 'most of us' the TIN is also the same as 10 of the digits of our Thai ID in the Yellow House Book. Is this not the case for many people ? (even if its not the case for you ?)
  11. Fair enough it was my understanding that our 10 digit TAX id is included in the Yellow Book which has a 13 digit number, most of which is made up of the same number as the Tax ID... and that 13 digit ID number is also repeated on the Pink ID. I accept I may have misunderstood this, as it is information I took from this forum way back in another 'Yellow Book / Pink ID debate, whereby it was mentioned that we could register for our Vaccines with our Thai ID number (from the Yellow Book / Pink Id), in that thread statements were made that Yellow Book / Pink ID were not needed as the Tax ID was the same and could also be used. From many comments made it seems that for many, the TAX ID number is the Same as the ID number in a persons Yellow House Book - if that NOT the case at all, then I have misunderstood and am wrong.
  12. Perhaps, isn't that what a discussion forum is for ??.... I rest my case...
  13. No, you don't. Please elaborate... How can a foreigner get a Pink ID without being registered in a house book ??
  14. You can't have a Pink Card and no other Thai Style ID... you can't get a Pink ID card without first having being registered with the Amphur and in a Yellow House Book (or in a Blue House Book if you qualify).
  15. Kind of correct... You need a Yellow House Book (or Blue House Book if you qualify) to get your Thai ID number which also contains your TIN... Thus..... of course, you can also have a TIN without the Yellow House Book. The Pink ID is just the same info on a Photo ID card (for no Thai, Thailand ID).
  16. No need for personal insults :( On the contrary... I was doubting my own judgement on your speed of uptake... It'd be amusing to have this debate over beers in a pub... I'd have been pishing myself in hysterics by now... I do believe you are deliberately messing with us... especially on this last page....
  17. You have a combined Thai Motorcycle licence and Driving Licence ????
  18. I just use one, and have done for many years. I was clearly wrong...
  19. My banks have phone apps, easy to transfer. Pay attention... NDID is not available for foreigners (at SCB Bank), Thus, the max transfer is 49,999 baht... and I'm not about to make 17 separate online transactions. Hence the counter transaction for which I used the Pink ID and Bank Book. You really can't be this slow on the uptake, surely ??????
  20. I'm starting to question if you haven't completely lost your marbles, Neeranam.... .... Motorcycle and Car....
  21. You're jumping into the debate searching for an argument rather than a discussion. No one has said the Pink ID is 'NEEDED'... I have said that the Pink ID card can be useful and adds a layer of convenience, and as it only takes an additional 10mins and 40 baht to obtain, they there's no good reason not to get one.... people have debated against this with flawed reasoning. Its not useful to you.. fair enough... you didn't make a false statements until above when you incorrectly commented that it has been said that the Pink ID is 'NEEDED'....
  22. The last transaction I made was to withdraw about 900,000 baht... Not something I wanted to do at an ATM And can't trx that amount with SCB as NDID is not available for foreigners).
  23. Obviously you don’t read as noted by others. I don’t dislike the pinky card, I have absolutely no use for it, it takes up space in my wallet. All I need in my wallet are the 2 drivers license and credit cards. That’s it, simple isn’t it? Sure its simple... so is reading post and identifying that it wasn't in reply to you. You have found that you have had no use for the Pink ID which is a perfectly reasonable response.
  24. You can withdraw money with just a bank card. This is a perfect example of why we 'suspect' you have a dislike for the Pink ID card... You are switching context to deliberately obfuscate the discussion and have used this tactic repeatedly. Given the content of your posts in other threads its obvious that you are not stupid which indicates in this thread you are being deliberately obtuse. You'll be reminded that the point made is that Pink ID can be used as ID for over the counter transactions and you have falsely stated that it is illegal...
  25. No argument there Neeranam.... In your experience, you have found no practical use for the Pink ID - thats fine. But.. that has not been the basis of your comments - you have been making false statements and generalisations which suggest you have something against the card itself.
