Gordon Ramsay’s group set to open 14 restaurants in Thailand
'mericans can't help themselves... 'over priced garbage'..... So... Which of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants did you eat at to give you first hand evidence that his food will likely be a) overpriced and b) garbage ??? Or, as I suspect, have you simply put fingers to keyboard without engaging brain cells ?

Will you still receive lightening fast alerts so you can pounce whenever anyone mentions EV or MG >>> ????

Given his self proclaimed culinary excellence he could easily use some of his US dining budget (which is more than most peoples annual salary) towards an award winning restaurant...

I guess thats why your attitudes are so broken... You're stuck in the middle of nowhere with little choice but to either cook for yourself and polish your own delusions or eat local scran... (Not knocking local scran at all BTW, its probably great, but we're discussing international food) I laughed at the arrogance of your 'dining budget' comment which deserved a pop... .... your 'trigger finger' whenever an MG or EV is mentioned in any topic is going to live on as long as the GOM thread and Trans inflating his tyres with Nitrogen !!! Its about time we agreed on something !!! The Londoner is Pub Grub... those places I listed are better.

Eh......? He's a Malaysian commedian who made his name on TikTok pretending to cook traditional Chinese foods and ripping the s#!t out of famous chef's who've cooked a Chinese dish on TV.... He rips it out of Jamie Oliver... and Gordon Ramsay to some extent..... He's actually quite amusing in short doses... my son thinks he's hilarious !!

Are you going to eat the Chairs ???? Jai Fai has a Michelin star and the stools there are most definitely plastic... I didn't mention expensive fine dining... I did mention excellent food and all of those places highlighted serve excellent food at reasonable prices... My guess is that any Gordon Ramsay restaurant will be competing at this level... and its a level many Thai's can afford. Give them a try, you wont be disappointed... even if you want to pretend you have Buggatti tastes on an MG budget !!! If you want fine dining go to Le Normandie... You've missed the opportunity to try Gaggans molecular gastronomy... He's reopened his restaurant by the name of Gaggan Anand... I doubt you have heard of those places either....

You 'money' dropped and stated your dining budget in the US would surpass most peoples annual income... Cracking hubris while driving a sh!!ty car.... Of course they wouldn't... because you have absolutely no idea of what you are talking !!!....

Buying plane tickets
Point of Origin can make a difference. Due to the increasing prices I booked ahead for Summer and Winter. .... it turned out to be cheaper purchasing a 'leapfrog' ticket, than 2x returns... i.e. A) BKK-UK (Jul) B) UK-BKK (Aug) C) BKK-UK (Dec) D) UK-BKK (Jan)

Buying plane tickets
There is actually a logic to that... With hotels I have found some reasonable (often 20% savings) when selecting a different country.... There is no rhyme or reason to this. i.e. Hotels in Thailand are more expensive when booking from the Middle East (on Agoda and booking.com)... so I use a VPN to Thailand or Singapore which has offered better prices for the same rooms. With hotels, I have not noticed any difference - I usually book direct with the airline website as booking sites usually put an 'extra layer' between you and resolution if there is any issue. So for flights: Always direct with the Airline Website and try and be a little flexible with itinerary.

Like being outrageously thin skinned... the same characters probably go through life offended at everyone and upset by everything... That said, there is the element of 'just can't be bothered getting drawn in'.... But then, how weak are some people if they can't just think... OK, that guys a pr!ck, I'll just not bother paying attention... There is a certain poster who seems to consider himself quite the Walther Mitty, I often accidentally open his threads... as I soon as I start reading the insipid ramblings I kick myself for not first checking who the author is...

Agreed... usually historical reasons.... I don't disagree with you comments on the state of the NHS though. Agreed... horrific... but thats not where the 'stereotype' has come from... the stereotype existed decades ago. They're not the same, but if you think they are, then you're probably the sort of person that thinks Japanese food is all Sushi and Italian food is all pasta. Fish & Chips ???... or will you tell me this hugely popular dish is really from New Zealand ??? Every time we visit the UK we have to have Fish & Chips... (Wife and Son insist)... We also have to have some incredible fresh sausages, British cheeses, Pheasant in the Winter... I have to have some of the amazing beers on offer (but I'm in danger of digressing more than you have about teeth !!)... I guess you just don't like potatoes.... "its just meat, veg, potatoes".... when you dumb it down like that... what is Thai food ?.. "its just meat, veg, rice" !!!...

Hahaha.... yet you drive an MG !!!... Mr Big-shot 'dining budget' !!! Love it !!!... Thats because you live in the ar$e end of no where !!!.... .... There are so many excellent restaurants in Bangkok... only those with a bigoted chip on their shoulder can't find excellence in Thailand when it comes to restaurants. Have you been to any of the restaurants I mentioned earlier ??? El Mercado, Cocotte, Kai, Helena, The Smokin Pug etc (to many a very small sample of very good 'international' restaurants in Bangkok... You too

Yup... I think its obvious to many who the fruitcakes are !!!... Some are harmless and can be entertained... other are ridiculously pedantic but sometimes offer insight, others are just ridiculously bigoted and clearly live in a very different world, while others seem to live in a parallel universe... big picture, all harmless and part of the colour of the forum. And then there are those who will disagree and troll an individual for nothing other than personal reasons and want to take a 'pop'.... they are just scummy to$$ers.

One of the reasons I don't put people on the ignore list is that not doing so helps to notice how many delusional unhinged nutters there are around us...

How Many On Your "Ignored Users" List?
None.... its easy enough to just ignore a post if we don't wish to engage. Someone was going on my ignore list the other day, then I couldn't be bothered and just ignored them. The funniest for me is when someone wants the last word and states... "You are going on my ignore list"... as if thats some kind of victory - the immaturity of that mindset is rather amusing.....

What makes you think that ??? EmSphere / EmQartier Helix / Siam Square / Icon Siam / Central World / Mega Bang Na / Some stand alone places in Sathorn, Lad Prao... also at Top Hotels in Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai.... .... all seem viable locations.

Tragic collision in Thailand’s west claims life in high-speed horror
'Most cars' have dark tint all round that is downright dangerous at night... Just take a look around.... Of course, if you want 'conclusive' you'll have to measure the 'tint' of the car involved... otherwise, we are dealing with speculation and likelihood on a discussion forum. The 'speculation' that the girl didn't see the pickup (or saw it late) due to dark tint on her windscreen is extremely valid given what we see around us every day. Additionally, the 'speculation' that the pickup was not indicicating is also valid for the same reasons. Its also possible that the pickup driver had stopped in the road due to indecision - I very much doubt he was 100% truthful with his side of events.

Gordon Ramsay’s group set to open 14 restaurants in Thailand
Of course he hasn't... He's pulling an opinion out of his backside because he's decided he doesn't like the fella.... ... And to justify the irrationally dumb opinion he makes comments such as "I don't put much stock in 'michelin' ratings".... .... Which is quite amusing as the French who are renown for some of the best food in the world most definitely do... ... I doubt many on here posting such negative opinions have even heard of Le Normandie or Gaggan.... and why would they when the only food they can get is something on rice?...... or they pull the wool over their own eyes thinking their own culinary mediocrity could pass muster for quality and consistency in a restaurant. ------ Personally, I also dislike Gordon Ramsay... Well, I think I dislike him, I don't know him. But, I dislike is TV persona.... It would be rather dumb to allow that dislike to cloud any judgement when he has been trained by the best, has trained some of the best, has been so successful and has received so many awards from the pinnacle of standards in his industry.... ... But sure... some guys believe their home cooking is better !!!! Hilarious.

And a lot of it would be great... But I'd still get bored and want some variation... Ton Katsu, Lasagna, Steak n Ale Pie, Sashimi, Chiken Tikka Masala, Pizza, Burger, Steak, Beef Wellington, Ravioli, cheeses, Shabu, cold cuts etc... The idea of sticking to one single cuisine is quite off putting.

Gordon Ramsay’s group set to open 14 restaurants in Thailand
Nah, I'm British and I can tell you... we are famous around the world for having bland, sh!tty food. After traveling the world and experiencing many different cuisines, British food is by far the most boring. Meat, potatoes, veg. Every. Damn. Meal. The British are also famous for wearing bowler hats and having crappy teeth... Stereotypes and generalisations last for decades and most of them well outdated. The British food scene is incredible, as is the food scene in many nations. IF you are only eating 'Meat, Potatoes, Veg'... then you're going to the wrong restaurants and lack both exposure and imagination. While the staples of 'stereotypically' British food may be somewhat limited, British style restaurants are not limited... and while Gordon Ramsay may be British, his restaurants and those of many others are not limited by the same mindset that limits the comments of many posters on this thread.

Same here... which is why I used it as an example of lots of Thai's eating 'pub-grub'. It does reasonable 'pub grub' - nothing amazing, but ticks the boxes... lots of Thai's visit. Other Good international restaurants such as El Mercado, Cocotte, Kai, Helena, The Smokin Pug etc.. are always full of Thai's enjoying international food.
