Lawyer says farang can own one property
Has your lawyer also offered to consummate the relationship first... .... I've no idea what you look like... but, there is a saying... 'you can see 'em coming'... I think they may have quoted the Thai equivalent.... Obvious scam... play them along and have some fun with it.

Severe weather alert: heavy rainfall predicted across Thailand due to monsoon impact
Its all Climate change.... all of it... and you you dont accept that you are a 'climate change denier'... Forget about how structures are built and designed around cyclic events, i.e. 100 year flood, 100 year storm etc... it doesn't matter... Anything 'extreme' that has happened before is still because of human impacted climate change... .... and don't let anyone with intelligent balance tell you otherwise... because the brainwashed climate change 'agreers' have listened to the 'science' !!!!!

BitKub verification mess
BitKub confirmed... - No changes for Foreigners (the Chip&Dip) is for Thai's only, foreigners will re-verify using the same methods as before. This does not explain why some foreigners are facing re-verification issues. - Another point - The App (For Apple) is also offline today while they run some sort of update (online via laptop is still available) - pretty annoying if you primarily use your phone or don't have quick access to your personal laptop.

BitKub verification mess
Yes... there was an automatic response that they were extremely busy and I'd receive an e-mail. A couple of days later I received an e-mail asking if my query had been responded to and if not follow up with an e-mail. I followed up with an e-mail..... no response yet.

Motorcycle license
I did. Apologies.... I over cooked my earlier response... you are quite right... the 'nudge nudge, wink wink' comment does imply the Op was looking for a back-door method.

Online debate erupts after woman recounts unsettling experience with app-ordered taxi
Well... thats easy enough to check before getting in (vehicle type / registration) is shown on the apps.... But... I guess there is always some sort of possible angle here.

Online debate erupts after woman recounts unsettling experience with app-ordered taxi
This 'theoretically' gave her greater protection as there is a 'dual-accountability' compared to hailing a flagfall taxi where the details of the driver is unknown. That is, of course, IF the driver of the 'taxi-app' was actually the same person as registered.... And, of course, if the driver was alert enough for it to register that his details are on the record.

Thai cyanide serial killer loses baby in prison, lawyer plans legal action
Just doing his job. I've often wondered how lawyers can defend someone who is obviously guilty, Strange way to earn a living, and completely without morals. Agreed... necessary in a mature legal system, however...

Who cares ???... Op is asking about getting a license here, not about how useful his experience of riding overseas will be here.

Why not just deal with his question at face value instead of virtue signalling ?

Motorcycle license
Where is your Drivers Licence from ? and does it have 'any' motorcycle (i.e. 50cc moped etc) endorsements ??? My UK licence has some 'minor' moped (low powered motorcycle) and trike endorsements... With this I was able to get a Thai Motorcycle license as the DLT did not know the exact details of the existing endorsements. So... It all depends what your DL actual is endorsed for. IF it has a little picture of a motorcycle - then the DLT may issue with a Thai Motorcycle licence without having to do the full set of tests.

Troll a different thread... This one is about the possibility of BitKub not permitting non-Thai's to continue trading in the platform. Back on topic... I've contacted BK to ask about this... no response as yet.

How to deal with an overwhelmingly negative opinion of Thai people.
IF thats what 'it' actually is. As the examples provided by the Op seem somewhat 'individual' I wonder if others of us would notice or experience the same behavior of those around us. For example, while everyone has an 'off day'... I have primarily positive experiences of interactions with those around me, I wonder if I placed myself in the Ops shoes, i.e. in his area, I would encounter the same negative experiences or would the experience be somewhat different ? As others have questioned - this could be about the 'vibe' given off. I've been to remote area's (albeit relatively temporarily) and have always had positive expreiences. Conversely, in heavily 'touristy' area's, there are occasions when I'm treated by people who appear not to 'like me' (foreigners), I suspect thats built on some previous negative experience or just their poor attitude... in an 'its them, not me manner' I just write that stuff off - It could be racism but its rare enough not to consider such attitudes representative of the general population. The Op now wants this thread closes because there have been plenty of people suggesting the issue is 'him' and not 'others' and he now seems to have been offended by some responses in this thread. That itself could imply the Op is particularly thin skinned, hence his negative interpretation of his encounters in Thailand. If this thread does get closed - Thanks to the Op for a good topic. It's been interesting to read how peoples experiences have differed so vastly.

BitKub verification mess
I’ve no issues using my TrueWallet anywhere… admittedly, accounts such as FoodPanda & Grab are liking to my Thai CC. Don’t cry the inconvenience, this has nothing to do with Thai’s not wanting us here (as initially implied), & everything to do with financial security. I do agree some of it is utterly daft, but there is usually a simple work-around. EDIT: I’ll now have to try & use my TrueWallet with FoodPanda which I hardly use as the service (in Bkk) has been surpassed by Grab.

Brit, given your posting history & exampled attitudes on this forum it does not surprise me one bit that you agree with the Op. I imagine those with similar attitudes regularly encounter what may be a less than positive response from those around them. .

He makes a valid point. Thai’s treat each other with a general degree of indifference… When they treat a Westerner with the same indifference some think it’s negative when in reality it’s just simple indifference.

Future of UK fossil fuels at stake in test case
Alternatives for transportation ? (shipping / Aircraft ?) Alternatives for to meet the huge electricity demand ? (nuclear ?) Solar, Wind & hydroelectric won't (its just not enough to meet demand).
-
Future of UK fossil fuels at stake in test case
Yes.... I do not yet see a better alternative other than making combustion of fossil fuels clean which is something that can be done.

Would that imply that the suspicions raised here could be true ? Foreigners, who do not have the 'ID Chip' will no longer be able to verify their account ?

I agree, they are different. But I wouldn't attempt to 'lump' Pattaya in as being 'non-Thai' because of its tourist orientated areas, there are many very 'Thai' neighbourhoods, just as there are very 'international entertainment districts within the city.... If someone only visits such places and only see's the Tourist area's I can understand why that is their opinion of the area or town they've visited. I also agree that 'holiday areas' such as Khao Yai are quite different from Phuket's Patong and Pattaya's walking street... I sometimes think some people have this nostalgic vision of Thailand of being them the novelty Westerner in an area where there is no electricity, where women wear sarongs and wash under buckets of the water at the side of their farm house... and they can regale their Hemingway-esque tails upon their return to the motherland in their Khaki's... .... And...... when they find the reality is lightyears away from this ideal vision they settle for the 'Little Britain' approach of being the 'Only Gay in the Village' and set their sights on going as far away as other westerners as they can possibly get.... they can then say appreciate themselves and think... "ooooh... yess.... Livingstone, I'm well off the beaten track now"..... Then its... "ohh... ... what's that Johnny foreigner doing eating in my Moo-ka-ta-shack"....
