Thanks for your farang apologist stance as always. Makes me feel better about the farang doing a runner on the poor kid who will just have to suck it up. I like how you didn’t make any mention of the poor kid but were outraged instead of a few translated FB comments. Wake up... If you think Thai was going to pay more, or anything at all to the young lad then you are as sorely mistaken as you are lacking lacking in nouse.

Who was held down ???.... who was forcefully jabbed against their will ???? Funnily enough, the same people who post this fabricated hyperbolae are the ones who throw around words like fascist and dictator about.... Its not herd behavior thats concerning, its stupidity. You were free to sit it all out... Fortunately you for you, your parents chose not to sit out Polio and Tetanus etc...

Wearing a helmet while cycling or sledding is important for safety1. Here are some facts about helmet safety: Wearing a bike helmet reduces the risk of serious head and brain injury by 85%1. Many states have laws that require helmet use1. Children younger than 12 years should also wear helmets when sledding1. Using bicycle helmets reduces serious head injuries by 60%, traumatic brain injury by 53%, and the number of cyclists killed or seriously injured by 34%2. 100%.... Now we should do an experiment... Get 100x 'Harsh Jones' ... get them to run into a wall as fast as they can... (which would probably be about 10kmh)... see how many of them return to to post on this forum... Then consider that most kids ride a bike faster than 10 kmh... every motorcycle journey taken will reach speeds far exceeding 10km - most likely 50 kmh on average... Kids sledding will reach decent speeds of up to 30 kmh... Not wearing a helmet - utter twit... and there are then those who will say its his own choice and it will only impact him... Well it wont... it will impact his family when hes a vegetable... It will impact the innocent person in a car who he hits who will then have to live with the gilt that they were involved in an accident where another party was killed or brain damaged... ... Responses from those such as 'Harsh Jones' are a perfect example of why helmet wear has to be legal and enforced... for surely such enforcement would have protected him from such head injury and he'd be better placed to formulate more intelligent comments.

Did We Really Land on the Moon?
richard_smith237 replied to CharlieH's topic in Off the beaten track
There is substantial evidence of objects left on the Moon by astronauts during the Apollo missions and robotic landers. Here are key examples: Apollo Equipment: The Apollo missions (1969–1972) left behind a range of equipment, including: Lunar Module Descent Stages: These served as landing platforms for the ascent modules. Scientific Instruments: Seismometers, retroreflectors, and other experiments (e.g., the Lunar Laser Ranging Retroreflectors) that still reflect lasers sent from Earth. Astronaut Tools and Personal Items: Cameras, tools, and even a family photo left by astronaut Charles Duke. Lunar Rover Tracks: The Lunar Roving Vehicles (used in Apollo 15, 16, and 17) left tire tracks across the Moon’s surface, visible in high-resolution satellite imagery. Robotic Landers: Various countries' space programmes (e.g., the Soviet Luna missions, China's Chang'e landers) have left rovers and instruments on the Moon. Images from Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO): NASA's LRO has captured high-resolution images of Apollo landing sites, showing leftover hardware like the descent stages, rover tracks, and astronaut footprints. (The quality doesn't really matter because you'll refute it anyway)... SO... on to the real point of my response: Are there any photos of your intelligence - as given this discussion, the greatest doubt that exists in this thread is the ability for your brain to function in any meaningful manner beyond basic life support and questionable communication.... -
Did We Really Land on the Moon?
richard_smith237 replied to CharlieH's topic in Off the beaten track
I wanted to deal with your comments... gave up thinking an single word response surfaces.... I then I realised you have gone into a lot of effort to write your post, so I I'll responding, highlighting why the comments are not very intelligent rather than using a single word to describe the comments in aggregate. Simply answered - the flag appeared to flutter as if in the wind due to the movement and vibrations caused by the astronauts handling it, along with the flexible metal rod holding it upright. The lack of atmospheric resistance on the Moon allowed these motions to continue longer than they would on Earth. Focal length - something anyone with the most basic knowledge of photography understands. I can make a moon look larger or smaller in any photo depending upon how I shoot it. When accounting for zoom, the apparent size of Earth in photos taken from the Moon, and the Moon in photos taken from Earth, depends on the focal length of the camera lens used. A camera with a higher zoom (longer focal length) can make either object appear larger than it would to the naked eye. However, if similar zoom levels are used, the Earth and Moon appear roughly the same size in their respective photos because the larger size of Earth is offset by its greater distance from the Moon. The balance between actual size and distance creates a comparable apparent size in both cases. Focal length is defined as the distance from the principal plane of the lens system to the focal point on the sensor, where collimated light rays converge after refraction. It directly affects the field of view and angular magnification, with longer focal lengths yielding narrower fields of view and higher spatial resolution, thereby amplifying the apparent size of distant celestial bodies like the Moon or Earth in photographic imaging. If thats too much... here, in simpler terms: Imagine you have a magical telescope that can zoom in or out. If you zoom in a lot, faraway things like the Moon or Earth look bigger in pictures. If you don’t zoom, they look smaller, just like toys do when you see them from far away! No... because of that 'magical telescope' (focal length) - images of the moon from the earth and of the earth from the moon are not taken with the same cameras.... Image (#2) - too far away from the moon - its synthesised. So it should - you were reading a load of rubbish, you should have remained laying down so you could have a better nights sleep and assimilate information more accurately. Artemis 1 mission completed in late 2022, was an un-crewed test flight, which orbited and flew beyond the Moon, its purpose to test rockets, heat shields and was a test bed for engineering. Artemis 2 will be a crewed flight beyond the Moon which will take humans the farthest they’ve ever been in space. Artemis 3 will be the first crewed Moon landing mission since Apollo 17 in 1972. NASA aims to land the first female astronaut and first astronaut of colour on the lunar surface. They will spend a week on the Moon performing scientific studies, before returning to Earth. Artemis 4 will deliver a core part of a new lunar space station (named 'Gateway') into orbit around the Moon, and land another two astronauts on the Moon's surface. Artemis 5 will add another important module to Gateway and involve a third crewed lunar landing to undertake further surface science. There is nothing odd about any of that. They didn't loose any information - the Artemis missions are laying the ground work for missions to Mars. No information lost, more information needed - basis processes of science and engineering. True - but whats your point ? you expected to be on Marx on 1975 ??... tech has to develop. There also needs to be economic viability - do we need to go back to the moon at all, or Mars ??? Scientific advancement by all means - will we find a cure for cancer on Mars ??? Perhaps at the very least a cure for stupidity, but I doubt that. Ah... they used the Bond set, brilliant - I think I already 'go out ahead of this level of stupidity' in my earlier comment (abou the "fly me to the moon" 'documentary' !!!) I know right... How did George Lucas know about Light Sabres and Star Destroyers ??? No, its not funny - a 5 year old can understand why that is... Try it on your next Grindr photo... take a nutsac photo and from the ground up and your plumbs in all their glory will look larger than your head !!!... No... you don't understand the laws of Physics an are mistaking them for simple perspective in photography - back to the Grindr example !! I saw that series of documentary about men who handle this stuff... they have a stick thingy... its easy to make people forget.... lets face it, half the people on this thread forgot their education if they had one, and they certainly forgot they are halfwits !!!. Valid points... On the first: Economic viability - Whats the point in going back to the moon unless we are going to use it as an more economically viable option to 'step' elsewhere - such as Mars. Nope.. they were one stop drops.... the 'energy' needed for return of such mass made the outward journey impossible without greater technological advancement and efficiencies... Escaping the earths gravity is a collossal exercises... Launching an energy source in to Orbit, transiting it en-masse to the moon (very slowly), then slowing it to a stable lunar orbit... Using the moon as a 'starting point' has potentail.... at least for a black man or a woman... or preferably a paraplegic black, lesbian with dyslexia who identifies as a cucumber.... No... completely separate missions - one the sole aim of a human to the moon... the second, the sole aim of payload delivery (i.e. building the ISS)... in the Apollo missions, the 'human' was the payload... 1/6th Gravity, is still a lot of gravity.... use the moon as storage, a stepping stone... But really (*IMO) an orbital 'storage' system is far more mathematical - the issue is space debris. Even if they did - place value means its worthless... kind of like finding two tonnes of gold on the top of Everest. Yes... like a 'dog pisshing up a tree'.... just to say we've been there.... Maybe LBJ thought it was a huge waste too !!!! Already explained.... that stuff is just noise in a more interesting debate which you touched on.... Travelling further faster... Yes.. interesting. Gravity experiments - massively important IMO... one of the most important things to come out of the cold war is the ISS and the developments they have made there..... But back to the original discussion - Moon landings ???... the who discussion is a waste... We were there, there is so much evidence the conspiracy not go to is so much larger than just going !!!!! ... But the crux for me... Any time I speak to someone who suspects 'humankind' never stepped foot on the moon I'm never surprised by their sheer absense of true intelligence.... just like flat earthes. -
Have you used this for travelling alone with a minor Thai child? For Thai-immigration you might need the official Thai-document for travelling alone with a minor Thai citizen; se my above reply. Yes & No… I’ve had the letter with me, signed by my Wife…. But I never needed it, was never questioned etc so the reality it ‘No, I didn’t use the letter’…. Friends have been stopped without a letter, the just called up ‘mum’ who spoke with the immigration office who had no issues with letting them pass. IF someone wants to be ‘perfect’ & remove any probability of doubt, then your recommendation is best & use the letter you posted…. In reality there is some flexibility- but….. in this case it’s not clear what the relationship is like with the opps Wife.

I’ve seen it a few times… Usually one driver pi$$es of another & they start driving erratically - brake testing, stop start, swerving etc… almost as if they want to cause an accident. With the uptake of dash cams it’s something we see fairly often in the media these days. I had it happen to me once years ago… Two lane road towards Bkk from Hua Hin…. Flowing but very busy traffic… I’m following the car in front in the 2nd (right) lane & am about to pass the slower lorry (which is in the left lane). A BMW screams up the inside, swerves in front of me, into the impossible gap - impressive that he neither hit the truck or me, I had to slam my brakes on, I blasted my horn…. …. and that was that…. For the next 20mins the BMW driver slowed to about 30kmh, stopped, started, swerved, blocked all traffic… caused a massive hold up… Lots of scenarios went through my mind…. Including him getting out of the car with a gun & me ruining him over !!! Some mentally unhinged lunatics out there…. (I’m sure some pr!cks on this forum will now now use that to question my driving which is to be expected from to$$ers trying to point score)….

… fippin ek…. This has the be the biggest load of bovine-muck I’ve read…. “Thai laws seem only to apply to Thai people”….. I’d argue a polar opposite - just look at any check-point in Phuket & Pattaya !!!…. & isn’t there a common conception that when a Thai breaks a law it’s a 500 baht fine & a Wai whereas a foreigner gets the book thrown at him or it costs him dearly - equal treatment is certainly a distant reality. The people who have made the comments quoted seem to suffer from overwhelming hypocrisy masked by a severe case of pulling the wool over their own eyes…..

I'm stunned... or is it shocked... both perhaps.... I'm also disappointed at the absense of netizen outrage.... ... But what really shocks me... this is a Thai.... I thought only foreigners doing dumb-shyat on their motorcycles was allowed to 'go viral'.... or... perhaps this hasn't gone viral, hence the absense of netizen outrage !!!! Eiher way... someone has to be exceptionally dumb to ride like this... but we see similar stuff daily !

This letter, it was just basically a word document that you filled out and you both simply signed and dated? I guess what Im asking is if there was any third party involvement in it at all, or if it was something the both of you created and signed and thats it. Attached is a format of the letter.... Its just something I made up - but covers they key information needed. Theoretically it would need to be 'stamped / signed / notarised' by your local Amphur office but we never went as far as going that far. We also travel with Digital copies of all documentation. Note: Our Son was 3 years old and 4 when I took him out of the country on or own. He was about 6 and 8 on the times the Wife has taken him out alone. Neither of us have ever been asked for any documentation - but we have friends who have been stopped and asked with travelling as a lone parent with a child. Also note: Our surnames are all the same. Another point: IF taking a child out of the country, always show 'intent to return' as removing a child from the country with clear intent not to return 'could' be viewed upon unfavourably by Thai courts if any contest comes to that. Best option remains: Get an uncontested divorce and sole custody from the mother.

Easy to say with 20/20 hindsight... Walking past a pool at a resort a few years back.... at night, coming back from dinner, my son and his mate were next to the pool - they earned a helping hand and ended up in the water !!!... We all ended up in the water full dressed !!!... quite a laugh. BUT - throwing a lad overboard from a fast moving speed boat is a very different action, especially if carried out aggressively. We do not know if this action was: a) while the boat was moving at speed b) while the the boat was stationary c) carried out in anger d) Just messing around e) carried out with evil intentions

There are other facets to this discussion worth considering... 'Antigenic drift' i.e. After 2-3 years of isolating I had greater concern for the impact on an Influenza virus than I did SARS-Cov2 virus or any of its existing iterations.... Not specifically for the severity of a potential flu illness, but for the potential for it to 'knock us out' and ruin a holiday... ... i.e. We'd isolated for long enough that the antigenic drift of the influenza virus could have taken a divergent path from that which we had pre-existing tolerance or immunity. Thus..... come flu-season, I didn't want our Christmas and ski holiday ruined by any of us falling ill and being stuck indoors nursing a horrible flu - IMO it was worth taking the influenza vaccine to counter act that risk. IMO - the same can be said for the SARS-Cov2 Vaccines - as the virus evolves around the world there is a risk that it 'can' take on a guise more severe than the current 'snivels' which I'm not worried about.... Should genuine news surface that the virus has taken on a more serious turn, then I'd give serious thought to getting 'revaccinated' IF those vaccinations available at the time are designed to 'lessen the impact' of the symptoms of such that variant. This is how we've behaved with Influenza, I think it makes sense to take the same precautions with SARS-Cov2 - evolve with it, and if we need further 'vaccine assistance' to counter a more severe variant - then take it if its available. As far as the as the other paranoia is concerned - I don't by into any of it, at all.

This is a perfect example of 'Bullsh!t in = bullsh!t out"... .... if you can't ask an intelligent question, don't expect an intelligent answer... .. and certainly don't be stupid enough to believe the rubbish something such as chatGPT spouts out after its searched the net for suitably fitting information to the loaded questions asked of it....

Have you never thrown your kid in a Swimming pool ???... In the water off the side of a boat ? - that in itself is not an indication of anything nasty... it could just be a father messing around with his sone... I've done simimilar with my nephews, son, sons friends etc... but not while the boat was moving. The difference here was that the boat was moving - its not clear how fast it was moving.... Were there nasty, nefarious intentions ?? As jing pointed out, it was a reported that there was an argument.... BUT... does throwing someone out of a boat imply mudurous intentions ? Did he (the father) throw the son out of the boat in anger ?... or were they just messing around ? Did the father 'know' the son would get caught in the prop and it was planned murder ?? - I dont think so.... At the worst, this could be an argument and he 'bins the cheeky son overboard' with tragic consequnces... I can't see how the father could have planned or predicted that the props would 'chop him up' as some seem to be suggesting. But, if the boat was moving at speed, this does imply a very harsh act and one which lead directly to the sons death.

You see Malcy.... IF someone doesn't view the actions of a non-Thai with 100% condensation you accuse them of siding with the non-Thai - which of course is stupid (no surprise there from you). Such is your bias you are simply lack any intelligent ability to see things any differently... Your bigoted bias against foreigners here blinds you to any thought that does not condemn all foreigners and side 100% with Thai's - your binary thought process is a clear indication of a fundamentally broken intellect. ... now.. In the very comment above your post, you'll read a balanced thought that opens up to the potential of other possibilities... You see Malcy... you're incapable of open minded discussion because you are so locked into your 'farangs are all bad' agenda... its one of the least intelligent outlooks I repeatedly read on this forum. And here it is for you Malcy (below) - the discussion that there 'could' be nefarious circumstances at play - while this could have been a father and son messing around, there is also new information which suggests and argument and that opens up other more horrific possibilities which need to be investigated.... Agreed…. This does tend to open up the void of speculation somewhat towards more nefarious intentions…

Did We Really Land on the Moon?

Frederick S. Perls; Out the Garbage Pail - 1969 - "Two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe” If ever there were a thread showcasing this this quote - this is it..... Idiots abound, and and while I'd prefer not to drag as discussion down to personal ridicule, sometimes the idiocy is so overwhelming the comments made by some are simply not deserving of any intelligent response for they draw on flawed and distorted conclusions, rely on false information, attempt to weaken facts through compartmentalisation and segregation.... .... In short... the only viable response to to the anti-moon-landers is the same as that to flat earth's... "pish off you dumb pest".... its the only response they deserve, yet someone how we get dragged into the debate with these cerebrally illiterate fools because we attempt to maintain the methodology of the scientific debate "postulate, question, prove"... ... the simple reality is that some people are simply not deserving of this level of response and this is how we get dragged down into the moronic, the idiotic, the time-wasting association with those whom I can only term 'idiotic morons'... -
I just completed this quiz. My Score 10/100 My Time 301 seconds

Did We Really Land on the Moon?
richard_smith237 replied to CharlieH's topic in Off the beaten track
In the compelling documentary "Fly Me to the Moon: The Black Cat Revelation", researchers unravel a strange twist in the moon landing saga, uncovering a black cat faintly visible in several high-resolution scans of supposed "studio backup" images. These images, intended as a contingency for media distribution in case of transmission failure, were produced on Earth and accidentally leaked alongside the authentic lunar footage. The cat, likely wandering onto the set during production, was unnoticed at the time but later revealed in archival scrutiny. Experts now argue that the studio images, riddled with minor inconsistencies like the feline, serve as proof that the real moon landings were streamed live from the lunar surface—distinct from these imperfect backups. Ironically, the cat’s unexpected presence underscores the truth: the Apollo missions were genuine, while the staged backups were an insurance policy that never needed deployment. -
My wife had already asked her not to interrupt…. By that stage I’d had enough… Correct - I mixed it up, it was an Everest. Me too…. I just can’t be bothered with that stuff once a line has been crossed…. I’ll just walk away…. ….sat in the Raptor with my son & played with the toys ! Wife dealt with the rest which was more polite than I would have been.

'Curtain twitcher'.... like the sort of person who calls the police when someone waters their plants during a hosepipe ban. -
Renting for a weekend is a good idea..... but again, I'm not really that bothered - its just a car. But, I like something that I can fit into, that has sensible storage space. A reliable (honest) dealership if (when) something goes wrong etc... I had a CRV a while ago... A car hit the door and damaged the electric window motor... It took longer than a month for something so simple to be fixed and I was shunted around from Garage to Garage and in doing so wasted a lot of time. Also when looking at a new Honda I wanted to 'sit in the car' (accord) just to see if I 'fit' - the sales people couldn't be bothered and wouldn't get the keys so I could turn on the ignition and move the electric seats. I tried the same with a CRV, the same thing, I was unable to adjust the seats so I coudn't even get in (after a tiny Thai had been in before hand) I just walked out.... sales completely disinterested. Walked into Ford - knowing their service history was poor (But Wife knows someone high up there), took a test drive, liked the car even though it felt a bit like a 'barge' (Fortuna).. started negotiating on model, extras etc etc the sales guy was very good and answered all my technical questions... ... then another sales lady (more senior took over), she couldn't answer my questions, tried to sidestep them and distract from the questions I had, she then started talking only to my Wife and then also interrupting every discussion my Wife and I were having.... after 3 times of being rudely interrupted, I pointed this out, and told her quite firmly... "do not interrupt me again while I'm talking with my Wife".... the Sales lady seemed so 'excited to push the sale' she had no self control and interrupted us yet again... there was nothing for me to do.... I just got up and walked off and went and sat in a Raptor with my Son while my wife explained - that the 'guy had the sale and she sabotaged it'.... We did buy a car that day from Mazda - excellent sales, excellent service - We've since sold it, but Mazda were on my list of 'new cars' to get recently - but they just didn't have a model that I wanted.

The question mark means I was asking YOU the question ? You claimed I paid sticker price for the car.... So I was asking YOU, what price I paid for the car as it seems you think you know everything..... You see... if you are going to start criticising the comments people have made, its best not to do so from the starting point of complete ignorance. So... I'll ask you again, just to see if you comprehend the point this time. Did I ??? [pay full sticker price for the car].... OK then, how much did I pay ???? you seem to know everything. --------- You see... You've wanted to levy some sort of accusation that I've been gullible and ripped off and I'm a 'salesmans wet dream'... but don't know what car I purchased, you don't know how much I paid - You don't know anything, which is why your accusation is 'stupid'..... Now, if you still struggle to grasp that simple concept It can't be understand for you.

First things first. You need an uncontested divorce - this should be a simple as both the mother and yourself going to the Amphur office and obtaining this and your mother signing over sole parental rights to yourself (also assuming you were married at the time of the Birth and your name is listed on the Childs birth certificate). Once you are divorced and have sole parental rights, you are free to travel where you like. The alternative: - Obtain a letter of 'Parental Consent' signed by the mother for you to travel with your daughter, however this is not permission to 'move overseas' and is only permission to travel showing clear intent to return to thailand. - Theoretically this letter needs to be notarised at the local Amphur office (although travelling with my Son - I've never been asked for this letter, so its a bit hit and miss). IMO - to protect yourself from any future issues, I think the best option is to secure a non-contested divorce and claim sole parental rights - clearly you need the compliance of the mother to do this. ------------ Your Child (Thai) will need to leave on her Thai Passport - you need to get hold of that from the mother. Your child 'stamps out' on her Thai Passport. -------- As far as travelling without the 'other parent'.. Both my Wife and I have done this twice - each time we prepared a letter or parental consent, just incase we were asked at immigration. We were not asked. However, I know friends who have been, so its best to have your ducks in a row.
