  1. A number of points here... - The guy made a very stupid mistake, perhaps thinking he was being funny - completely unacceptable. - The response seems like an over-reaction thats not to minimise what happened. - Would a Thai man have received the same response ? - Would a similar 'slap' on a Western Woman (by a Thai male ) been treated in the same manner ? --------- I think it was last year - An Indian man was charged 200,000 baht for something similar (slapping a woman's bottom on Walking street - she was a 'dancer' and not a hooker etc)... ... Questions asked then - Whenever walking in an 'entertainment area' and a Ladyboy tries to grab a mans junk, why aren't they charged ??? --------- What happened to this lady is wrong. The man needs to be very apologetic and perhaps even face charges - but I'm left wondering if the only reason the response was so exaggerated is because this was a 'foriegner'. Turning this into the huge pantomime is excessive - I'd like to see such a response when there is a report of domestic violence (whatever the nationality of the offender)
  2. Turning from the right-most lane across the left lane and cutting off a car and a motorcyclist is not illegal in Thailand? You might have had an argument had the car in the left-most lane had turned and struck the motorcycle. 100%
  3. The accident happed because of the careless driving of the Hyundai driver... I think this supersedes the motorcyclist riding the shoulder... I've pointed out earlier that this 'shoulder' looks to be used as a left lane by all traffic, cars included (photos of this posted earlier on this thread). Whether riding / or driving in that left lane legally or not, the careless and reckless nature of the Hyundai driver is what caused the accident more so than the actions of any of the other riders / drivers in this situation as the driver has failed to to account for 'normal traffic behavior'.... If the Hyundai was turning left from the 'inside' driving lane (not the shoulder) and a motorcyclist sped up the inside and there was a collision - then I'd agree that the motorcyclist is at fault, however, the Hyundai turned blindly from the right most lane without any consideration for traffic in the left hand 'driving' lane (not the shoulder) and is therefore solely at fault (IMO). From a self preservation perspective - the motorcyclist could hold himself accountable and his actions complicit in causing his own injuries because he was not riding carefully or defensively - but from a 'legal-fault' perspective I can only see the Hyundai driver as being at fault here.
  4. These guys didn't 'think of it' either... They copied it... this stuff has been doing the rounds on social media for a decade.
  5. You write whatever it is you are going to post, then LL will stroll along and highlight your mistake !!
  6. I just completed this quiz. My Score 75/100 My Time 159 seconds
  7. The comb at the end of the travelator could grab the family jewels? I'd very much doubt they'd 'ride the rowing boat' until the very end of the travelator... ... Extremely stupid if they did... Imagine that story... "Travelator Oar-deal Leaves Tourists Short-Changed Below Deck!"
  8. This is a new one... I though 'netizen outrage' was only to be directed at foreigners in Thailand.....
  9. Since when have go-go bars been illegal? Yawn.... You're going don't that silly pedantic rabbit hole and clinging on to the incredulous again LL... Nakedness in the gogo bars is illegal, so is the prostitution that goes on in them - but you knew that already....
  10. I think the 'Link between tickets and tax' depends on the IT set up of each regional office (or at least it was).. i.e. the systems in one province may not be the same (as modern) as systems in another province. In 'some' provinces - when paying the Tax the DLT is also aware of any fines registered to the vehicle and they 'will' request that you pay the fines.... ... But, a recent case (as linked above) ruled that the DLT cannot withhold tax documentation if you refuse to pay the fine. Thus: This could be one of two things. a) They systems are not linked in the province yet and they were unaware of the fines. or... b) The systems are linked, but the DLT have taken the ruling a step further and are not making any requests to pay fines.
  11. That section is taxi parking only... so the roads is not marked red and white, to indicate no parking, but instead has the yellow parking bays and a sign... .. the lad probably parked there as he saw loads of other bikes already parked there.... Thats what happens here, one person breaks a rule, many others soon follow.
  12. What netizens exactly ?.... Couple of comments on social media ? Just a pair of lads having a laugh... This 'rowing thing' has been done the world over, quite amusing, but no longer original in the slightest...
  13. Careful... you'll get the forums 'only' authority on road safety telling that you are racist, bias and have no idea how road safety works because you are drawing conclusions from observations not woke text books...
  14. 100%... never have I been 'so anti' any British Politician before... This guy may leave lasting damage.... There's a supermarket in the midlands somewhere without its manager... and this is all this guy is good for - that he made it to PM astonishes me.. how a vote of no confidence has not yet been called is a bigger surprise.
  15. Coming home after a night out... would be the usual 'go to answer' considering she referred to him as her BF. Utter ayhole of a foreigner 'fleeing the scene'... probably pished up... But... what strikes me as odd is this comment in the article.... How does he flee the scene on another motorcycle ? - did he steel it (keys left in ignition etc).. or, was another mate on a motorcycle also present ?
  16. Its the next evolution from 'high horse' !!!!
  17. Don't mess with me or your scooter will be next. 😂 No chance...... I've got one of those handle bar brake lever locks !!!
  18. I see... All thefts involve a screw-driver in the ignition.... none involve a bike being lifted onto a pickup and driven off, or wheeled away (pushed by another guy on a scooter).... Admittedly, I'm clearly not as familiar with scooter theft as you....
  19. Be straight up... Just tell them you had a better offer and have to respectfully decline their offer. But, ensure you have the second offer locked in first.
  20. Is your home not more relaxing and comfortable than a business class lounge full of other people ? Also... I don't view the lounge in the same manner as glutton getting their monies worth of prawn tempura at the seafood buffet !!!...
  21. If you're flying tomorrow you should be able to check-in online now... (airline dependant of course)
  22. Yeah, I hate middle seats too (unless sat with my Wife and Son)... You know you can check-in online right and chose your seat ? - though you may have to pay a little extra. I guess getting there 2 hours earlier and getting at the head of the queue saves a few $$ from booking a seat.
  23. The throttle isn't needed if all they are going to do is wheel the bike away....
  24. Ah... leaving home 6 hours before departure is something different... depending on where, time etc.. In the past, when departing from London on an early AM flight, we've got down there the night before so we don't have to wake up at 4am etc... But... thats all a bit different from getting to the airpot 4 hours early. With Bangkok Traffic - I have to plan a little... on a good run I can get to the airport in 20mins - usually its about 30-35mins and at worst its 45mins... never an hour.... so its fairly predicable. If something catastrophic happens, and I miss the flight - then thats just hard luck... I think aiming to get to the airport (Suvarnabumi) allows 'me' enough of a safety barrier - thats also aided by Thai Elite and fast track through the airport too... Lots of time saved when travelling through the airport so frequently. I can understand someone wanted to get there 3 hours early, just incase... longer than that seems excessive (just IMO of course - its entirely up to you... I'm just interested in the justification from a sociological perspective thats all).
  25. Each to their own of course... whatever makes you comfortable - I've read comments from other posters who like to get to the airport very early. However, I've never truly understood why... I consider this level of timing considerably over-egging-it..... As is the comment about 'sitting back and relaxing snuggly watching others panicking"... does that really happen - I'm in airports a lot (and try and minimise my time there), but feeling 'smug' at others stressing is not really a highlight of travelling, is it ??? Airline check-in counters at Suvarnabhumi generally do not open until 3 hours before the flight (unless flying Thai Airways which is 8 hours)... So you might be waiting anywhere from 1-3 hours before you can check-in anyway. Additionally, is sitting in a crowded Airport cafe having a beer really relaxing !!... In a quiet lounge perhaps - but then if you get access to a lounge its likely you have access to priority check-in and fast track which means there is hardly any queueing anyway.
