To learn the correct 'too'
-
I think the point is I'm confident I can argue ALL the things I mentioned being better under Biden, but I have a funny feeling that's not what you care about. You are in fact the epitome of “Arguing with people like you (being polite here) is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the bird is going to $hit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.” ― Shannon L. Alder

I would like some more please as it seems your whole grievance with Biden is to do with immigration. Nothing about the economy, nothing about crime, nothing about world politics or equal opportunities or climate change or health care or infrastructure or abortion rights or women's rights or voting rights or student debt or gun legislation or job creation or prescription drugs or indeed anything of any substance OTHER than immigration. It's the oldest trick in the political book and you are falling for it bigly; get the working man to blame the immigrants for all the problems in their life even though the country is run by billionaires and corporations who have much more say on your life and your well-being than any immigrant could possibly have. Trump supporters just can't see it or refuse to see it; you blame people who have little choice in their life but to try and find something better, even if that means putting themselves and their children in harm’s way. And whilst you are beating the immigrant drum, the billionaires and corporations sit back and laugh about how much they are still getting away with absolutely everything and how no one is blaming them. It's a helluva con and you are falling for it hook, line and sinker. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/trump-tells-billionaires-ll-keep-taxes-low-50-million-fundraising-gala-rcna146748

A New Beginning in Thailand
johnnybangkok replied to Conan The Barbarian's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Very eloquently put and don't be too put off by the naysayers. Thailand offers many great opportunities of which beautiful, younger ladies are just one. Just go with the flow but keep an eye on your bank balance and for gods sake don't go buying land for her or buffaloes for her 'sick' mother. There's a lot of genuine Thai/Western relationships to be had (I will testify to having one) but you do have to keep your wits about you for the gold-diggers. Either way, it all still beats the cr@p out of a wet and windy day in Manchester. Enjoy the adventure! -
Court Finds Adultery Law Unconstitutional
johnnybangkok replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What on earth is going on with Thailand these days? First they legalise weed (although maybe for not much longer) then legalise gay marriage and now this. Could Thailand finally be getting a bit of common sense? -
Thailand Passes Landmark Same-Sex Marriage Law
johnnybangkok replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you don't mind me saying, I think you might be being a little over-sensitive here. I know this is a subject close to your heart but I think the vast majority of people posting here are being very supportive of all this. There's the usual couple of idiots of course but it wouldn't be AN without the uneducated now would it? -
So Fauci who served 'under seven U.S. presidents, beginning with the Reagan administration' and was in government for nearly 40 unblemished years all of a sudden decided to become this criminal mastermind, out to cover up a lab leak (which he always stated was a possibility but was more likely a natural occurrence) for some bizarre plot to get 'royalties for life'. You guys and your conspiracy theories (usually in defense of Trump) are just the worst. Here’s What Dr. Fauci Has Said About Covid’s Origins And The Lab Leak Theory (forbes.com)

Thailand Passes Landmark Same-Sex Marriage Law
johnnybangkok replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well only married couples can adopt in Thailand so since this now includes gay couples then I'm sure they will be allowed eventually. Another great opportunity for unwanted children to be involved in a loving and devoted family rather than be raised in orphanages.- 109 replies

Thailand Passes Landmark Same-Sex Marriage Law

Well done Thailand! -
Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not underestimating the voting public, there was after all 74 million of them at the last count but before you go down the 'don't call us deplorables' usual route, this still doesn't excuse people for literally voting aginst their own interests and why in your eloquent way they are indeed 'stupid and brain dead idiots'. Trump is very good at getting mainstream voters all riled up about immigration or gender identity or some other hot button topic that has very little bearing on the average man on the street other than to play to their base fears. It's the oldest trick in the book; look over there simple people whilst we do real damage over here. But what about medical coverage or infrastructure or the environment or USA jobs? Things that ACTUALLY matter to most people but for which Trump did absolutely nothing when he was POTUS. And the only reason Biden national debt contributions are more is he had a whole country to drag out of a pandemic whereas Trump just spent his $8 trillion on tax cuts for himself and his cronies.
-
You trying to minimise his actions to a 'booking keeping error' doesn't make it so. One last time, he fu@ked a porn star, paid her off when she threatened to reveal all just before the 2016 election (thus influencing the result) then decided to try and hide the payments in a fraudulent manner. All of you trying to excuse this kind of behaviour is exactly why politics are the way they are. There should be standards of conduct and morality but Trump just keeps getting away with it. If this was Obama or Biden you would all be frothing at the mouth to get him sacked and/or jailed. Your hypocricy knows no bounds. And there was nothing 'kangaroo' about the court. It was in New York where the crime took place if front of 12 jurors that Trumps own defence helped choose. As they say, if you can't do the time......................
-
Perhaps your typical Trump supporter is stupid enough to think 'gas was cheaper under Trump...that's good enough for me!' but I think for every one of these brain dead idiots there's many more who go into their deliberations with much more detail - remembering he added $8 trillion to the national debt, or his laughable handling of the pandemic or his refusal to acknowledge defeat leading to the storming of The Capitol. Oh and there's also abortion rights and the fact he's promised all these billionaires already that he'll lower their taxes (again) and do away with environmental protections. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/06/09/biden-trump-taxes-election/ Why any of you think Trump is for the people is beyond me. He's for himself (even going as far as to threaten political vengeance on the justice department) and for his rich mates and sees his supporters as useful fools to get what HE wants. But yeah Biden's old.
-
Oh god not this again. Gas was cheap because Russia hadn't invaded Ukraine at the time (nothing to do with Trump or Biden). Inflations became high due to logistical problems from Covid - a worldwide problem where the US (under Biden) brought it down quicker than most if not all G7 countries. Housing was affordable? - depends where you were buying. Mortgage rates are again a worldwide problem not particularly about whoever is POTUS as it's governed by the Federal Reserve. No wars happening - apart from Afghanistan and Iraq and Syria (predominately to fight to fight ISIS). People seemed happier - anecdotal but I suppose it's who you hang out with. Certainly not those that died of Covid.
-
My point (which you seem to conveniently ignore) is you are calling her a "whore' and paying a whore in NY is illegal. Paying off a porn start to keep quiet about having sex with her (hush money) isn't. And I prefer 'convicted fraudster' as it also nicely covers his attempt to dupe banks and others with financial statements by inflating the value of his properties (and ordered to pay $300M +) or when he was forced to admit fraud and close down his own charity.
-
Absolutely wrong. If it was 'pragmatic' and not 'personality' there is nothing that was better under Trumps term of office, other than if you happened to be a billionaire or a large corporation (are you either of these things?). By any metric imagineable, the last 4 years under Biden have been soooooooo much better than Trump both domestically and on the world stage. This is why the MAGA brigade are called 'cultist' as literally facts and figures don't seem to sway them at all.
-
How does 34 counts of falsification of business records in the first degree, with intent to "aid or conceal" another crime when falsifying said records, which in this case was to conceal the payments from the public and therefore influnce the 2016 election, which in turn is a violation of New York election law? Is that sexy enough for you? P.S. Paying a 'whore' as you so eloquently put it IS illegal in New York. Paying a porn star isn't.

Thailand will go further than legalising same-sex marriage – PM
johnnybangkok replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think the point most people are TRYING to point out to you is you are bringing up a different issue to the same sex marriage topic of this post, but more importantly, YOUR point was resolved nearly 2 years ago. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world-swimming-bans-transgender-athletes-womens-events-rcna34325 and it's not just swimmming https://www.npr.org/2024/04/08/1243548261/naia-transgender-athlete-sports-ban https://www.bbc.com/sport/athletics/65051900 -
What does the average British expat think of Tommy?

And there we have it. Because I'm pointing out the obvious bias of you pal Yaxley then I'm anti-white (even though I'm white), I'm anti-British (although born there and lived there for 42 years and still have a British passport) and of course I'm pro-Muslim and pro-Islam! What a load of nationalistic nonsense fed to your obvious right-wing bias through mediums that tell you it's the immigrants who are the cause of your unfulfilled existence rather than your own incompetency's and inability to get ahead in life. Not a single immigrant has that much affect on my life and unlike yourself, I refuse to condemn the vast majority of good, law abiding British Muslims through the actions of the few. And by the way, you dinosaur, if you don't want to click on a link just copy and past the headline into a browser (usually marked with colorful words like 'Google') and it'll take you to the article. -

You trying to paint Yaxley/Robinson as some sort of bastion of good, a white night (excuse the pun) fighting for the common man clearly misses the point that he ONLY has a problem with child sex rings if they happen to be Muslim. And as most of us know, this is because this man is clearly racist and VERY anti-Muslim. Did you see him pop up, expose and condemn the following Child sex rings? The paedophiles behind 'biggest-ever' child sex abuse ring as they are jailed for 145 years - Manchester Evening News 'World's largest paedophile ring' uncovered - BBC News Members of Glasgow paedophile gang guilty of running 'monstrous' child sex abuse ring | UK News | Sky News No of course not because it doesn't fit into his vilification of anything Muslim and THAT's where the problem is with this man. No one wants these heinous acts to be 'forgotten' but your very obvious attempt to gaslight anyone as 'left wing bedwetters' simply because we can point out the hypocrisy of a man who ONLY calls out ethnic minorities for anything bad they do whilst completely ignoring major crimes by white people is an echo chamber completely reserved for yourself. -
Is This the Britain the D-Day Generation Fought to Save?
johnnybangkok replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Sensationalist nonsense coming from a predominately right wing newspaper, bemoaning the UK's descent into "wokery' when all that is happening is what has been happening for decades i.e. if you live by the sword then be prepared to die by the sword. Both Kathleen Stock and and in particular Graham Linehan (Rosie Duffield to a lesser extent) decided to stick their heads above the parapet in regards to the trans debate. Linehan went as far as to compare the medical treatment of transgender teenagers (with puberty blockers) to Nazi human experimentation. Now if you go down that road then you also need to understand that a LOT of people are going to disagree with you and you will face some serious backlash. You can argue that this is curtailing free speech but much like the usual analogy of shouting 'fire' in a crowded cinema, free speech doesn't automatically come with freedom of consequences. Now this isn't a rant for pro-trans rights because I really don't care what someone wants to call themselves (call yourself a banana for all I care) and neither do the vast majority of people I know but my point is if you want to immerse yourself in a debate that doesn't really affect you personally, then just be prepared for the consequences. Saying that, I firmly believe that both Kathleen Stock and Rosie Duffield were unfairly vilified; Stock for just liking a Graham Linehan post and Duffield for opposing transgender self-identification. But again if the debate was about them being anti-sematic or racist or condoning pedophilia then there wouldn't be a debate at all; they would just be rightly hounded, ostracised and dropped from society but because it's THEIR views on trans rights we now have to agree it's an erosion of ALL of our freedoms? I don't think so. I don't see the leap that I personally am suffering from an 'erosion of freedoms' but then again, I don't get involved in something I have very little concern about and that is likely to attract so much controversy. I do agree that 'Any country will inevitably change over the course of eight decades, and Britain is no exception' but unlike the author, I think it's changing for the better because having lived in the UK for 40 years through the 70's, 80's, 90's and the early 2000's, I see less racism, less misogamy, less homophobia, more tolerance for other cultures, more tolerance for other religions and more open mindedness when it comes to sexual identity. It's easy to cherry pick a couple of examples where it has possibly gone too far but on the whole, this 'wokeness' is mainly an opportunity to call out people with abhorrent ideas that don't align with a young, modern generation who are willing to give anyone a chance to just be themselves. To argue otherwise is just sensationalist journalism, created yet again to stoke the fires of controversy to a nationalistic audience just itching to be offended by matters that have very little consequences to themselves personally. -
