Lady Susan Hussey quits over remarks to charity boss Ngozi Fulani
johnnybangkok replied to Scott's topic in World News
So we are just descending into conspracy theories now eh? I've said my piece on this matter with facts based around the actual conversation but you guys are now going with 'publicity stunts' and even 'she was wearing a wire' (another poster I know). If you can't engage in an intelligent manner then I really don't see the point in continuing. Peace. Love. Equality. I'm out. -

Stop with the straw -man nonsense. If this is your level of debate then I'm really not going to engage. An aristocrat with years of dimplomatic service and a pedigree that just shouts privelage drops herself in it and you accuse me of opposing 'old white females'. Give me a break. If you were following my point without the blinkers you usually wear then you'll see my stance is more about the job she was supposed to be doing than the racism angle you are pushing. Her words were clumsy and old-fashioned and for someone in her position completely wrong. She got found out and was right to resign (or pushed) as that's NOT how a seasoned diplomat representing the Royal Family should talk and/or behave. -

I wasn't the one who wrote the words; you were. If that's what you meant then you should have chosen your words better. -

At no time did she ask 'where are your ancestors from'. It was always 'no, where are YOU from?; As I have said many, many times, Lady SH may not be guilty of racism but she is certainly guilty of clumsy, undiplomatic talk that COULD be construed as racism. And for someone supposedly well versed in diplomacy, that's what's unforgiveable and why she had to go. -

I'm really not going to get into a debate about Nigel Farnage being racist or not. Lets say I agree with the The Archbishop of Canterbury who said Farage was guilty of “inexcusable pandering to people’s worries and prejudices, that is giving legitimisation to racism”. The Ukip leader was “accentuating people’s fear for political gain and that is absolutely unacceptable”, he added. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/07/nigel-farage-helping-to-legitimise-racism-justin-welby-says -

Are you not British? He is VERY well known in the UK for being racist and for his extreme views on this sort of thing. Plenty on here probably love him though. -

Yup. That’s exactly what she is and I don’t think she’s hidden that for many years. -

Yes because Nigel is well known for his balanced views on these sort of matters. It’s like asking the Pope to comment on atheism. -

And if someone asked you what nationality you were and you answered them 3 times that you were British but they kept on with the “no, where are you REALLY from” angle then perhaps you might have a different view of the whole matter. -

Racism and white supremacy are bed-fellows. If you don’t think Nigel Farange is either one or both then I don’t really know what to say to you. -

You should do. I haven’t hidden them. I lean against white nationalism and racism. You? -

Oh come on! Anyone quoting Nigel Farage in a discussion about race and/or ethnicity has a leaning towards white nationalism and/or outright racism. Are you saying you don’t? -

Or even more plausible, she was born and raised in Hackney. You’re losing this argument badly when you purposely avoid the obvious to try and stigmatize someone you obviously don’t like. -

Well if we were at all confused about your “leanings”, that clears it up. -

She wear dreadlocks because she’s Rastafarian (a recognized religion) and where does she deny her ethnicity? Like many, many black, Indian, Pakistani and Asian Brits, she’s British and said so many times. This idea that colour denotes nationality is where you and many on here get it wrong. -

Your exact words were 'Finally, and I mention this because it has previously been raised in the public domain, the financial accounts of her charity ,"Sistah Space", apparently make "interesting reading". I suspect that she is a fraud. I rather suspect that Lady Hussey thought so to. Does having such a suspicion make me a racist?' At least own up to your accusations which are VERY obviously that she is some sort of financial fraud and NOT about how she presented herself. -

I've taken the trouble to do some research and have heard her talking on LBC radio. Maybe you should try doing the same before throwing out your nonsense. -

Absolutely spot on. It is a different world and very much different standards. We EXPECT ex-consorts to the queen and seasoned diplomats to be much more circumspect that Lady SH was. This isn't just a random conversation with your friends over a Singha beer; this was an event organised by the Kings wife! Try thinking of it as a Thai diplomat going to the Japanese embassy and doing a very bad 'me so solly' impersonation whilst pulling his eyes back. These are supposed to be professionals who should know how to navigate these sorts of situations. -

Here comes your flaying. 'Sistah' is urban vonacular for sister. Much in the same way eastenders use bruvver. It purports accessibility in street culture (handy if you are running a charity aimed at disadvantaged black women). Her colours are not 'rainbow colours' (that's for the LGBTQ community) they are rastafarian. 'One cannot expect the said nanny to be confused. and asking the questions she asked to gather the ethnicity origin from Ngozi Fulani - apart from the fact she told Lady SH 3 TIMES she was British. 'Rather than initially being forthcoming, used opportunity for distraction to further discord and, played the racist card, presumably with financial benefit' - she was initially fortcoming and answered Lady SH's qwuestions. It was Lady SH that kept pushing the 'No, where are you REALLY from?" And no you're not racist (and there's really no need to flash your credentials) but you are VERY confused. -

And when she opened her mouth and spoke in an East End accent? Is Lady SH soooo posh as to not get a very common London accent?
