Not all bargirls are business travellers. Embassy staff are looking for people who will abuse their visas; most people who overstay their visas are not bargirls. (Can't prove that though)

Seems like you are eating a regular diet. The exercise probably is doing the most. I would guess if you cut out the sweet foods and avoid excessive amounts of bread, rice, sweet drinks and alcohol in your diet you would get better results.

Eating raw fruit and vegetables sounds healthy to me. And the fish and cooked veggies sounds healthy. Seems like you are doing okay if you have kept some of what you lost off and you are exercising. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks for the thoughts on this. I would guess there are other posters who have experience with this. I will be going to the US embassy. If for some reason my wife gets rejected I will ask for a review. I'll take it back to the US if necessary to get action here in Thailand.

So many people on tourist visas just overstay their visas. These people were screened and the embassy staff gave them visas. Maybe when they catch people in other countries who have overstayed their visas they should record who gave them the visa in the first place. If they find five overstayers from one embassy staff member that staff member should be fired and banned from working in any embassy or office related to immigration.

A question for guys who have tried to get a visa for a former bargirl?

It would seem that there are few posters on this board who have girlfriends who have worked as bargirls. My wife used to work in a bar and she did what most bargirls do. I don't publicise it but it's true. When I apply for a visa to the US there is a question on the form about prostitution. What do most posters whose girlfriends or wives worked in bars and slept with men for profit do when they see this question? I would guess most lie about it. That's the easy way for people who can lie. I don't like to lie, myself. My wife and I are pretty open about our past so we are planning to check 'yes' for that question. Are we nuts? Will my wife have a chance to explain her past?

By the way my wife only worked in a bar for one year. We also have a child together.

By the way this is the low season for tourists so a lot of Thai people are short on cash. She might be desperate.

It bothers me but I can see both sides of the story. Some of the people out there want to live the way they do. Others would like help from above. But I would guess to the government they just see them all as human waste as they haven't done anything to reduce the number there using other methods over their time in office.

When I came here over 10 years ago someone told me that when the Royal family visits the local people sweep all the waste from the streets into the gutters where it can't be seen. After they pass its all back to normal littering etc.

If Thailand's wealthiest people actually had to stay in Thailand they might clean it up. But to the haves of Thailand they only spend half their time here. But that goes for most of the world's haves.

Confusing. Thailand is not a developed country so don't expect much from it. It's leaders and elite ride on the backs of the poor, weak, and exploitable. The violence that periodically shows its face in Southeast asia (Cambodia, Indonesia, communist movements, ect) is a result of the leaders and elite here just not giving a ###### about their countries people.

Other countries should have a reciprical policy against Thais. The Thai poor will not suffer; only the wealthy Thais who have land overseas.

Actually I think there is a new type of roneo that copies in some way like a copy machine but its cheaper. I would guess the quality of its copies aren't as good as copiers but good enough for handouts. To be honest I really don't know what to call the thing. I would like to go to an shop that has different choices. But copiers are quite expensive and even more expensive to maintain and repair from what I gather.

It's illegal to "sell" so why not give them away. Buy one during the legal time and get a coupon for a free drink when drinks can't be 'sold' or 'bought.'

Seems like it would be illegal for anyone, government or not, to tell you to carry something into a border checkpoint without knowing exactly what it is or what is inside of it. It shouldn't matter if it is just an envelope.

So many possibility with the way things work out here. You can't trust anyone. I wonder when people will really care. The killings in the south have been going on forever I'd guess. Enemies of the state probably just 'disappeared.' They should search every province in Thailand for the lost souls of the past.

I met this taxi driver who worked as a driver in BKK during the vietnem war and I would like to help him get some business. He really is excellent in English (I mean this!)and loves to talk to customers. I would like to put his name on a forum with vets because I figure they might like to chat about that time in Bangkok etc. Are there any VietnamVet Thai forums? Does anyone have any suggestion for me?

I had that post nasal drip giving me throat infections. The doc here said I was allergic to something in the air. She thought I would have this problem forever. That was a couple of years ago. I haven't had it since. The air in Thailand is the worst i know of. It's full of pollution from cars, dust, and burnt trash. Seems like you are accepting you fate. Eat as well as you can and avoid the heavy traffic areas. A day in BKK coats the interior of my nose with black crud. In 10-20 years when the city people start dropping dead daily on the street people will realise that the money wasn't worth it.
