Government should be asking themselves why their citizens are having to consider such extreme measures to get vaccinated.
Government already knows the answer.

After suffering the pandemic for over a year I think there would heaps of covid stir crazed people itching to just get away from it all.
Can not disagree with the sentiment.
But as one begins process of assembling all the paper work required for CoE and contacting respective embassy/consulate, one realizes he is not getting away from anything, on contrary, he is jumping right into middle of it all.

I send money with Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn apps regularly from outside Thailand with WIFI only. I never receive SMS.
It may be option selected in App or option selected when I set up accounts, don't honestly remember. But either way no issue for me at least.
YMMV

"......In total, 41 field hospitals have been established by MHESI institutions with a total of 12,000 beds. They are currently treating 1,600 patients........"
This doesn't add up. As I recall, {and I would have to look back to confirm which I am too lazy to do} there has been over 1000 positive tests every day for past week at least. If there are 1,600 being treated where are the other 5,000+.
Could be in real hospitals I guess.
But regardless, as others have stated, if/when they have a real wave tens of thousands positive tests per day will over whelm 12,000 beds.

However, all these electric cars are not going to pluck their power out of thin air. It's not just a question of providing enough charging points, it's more fundamental than that. The power has to be generated somehow and I think that the current infrastructure is going to need a serious upgrade. It hardly seems to cope now!
The green fad is to say change to electric vehicles, but no one understands (or wants to admit) the implications.
Better start building those new power plants now, upgrading the transmission infrastructure and upgrading the service to every residence planning to have a electric car to be ready for utopia in 2035.

I would offer it is the view of most the entire world, if a person is not sick enough to warrant he need not be in hospital.
Thailand knows better.

@sandyf this is astounding because I know you said the Thai Domestic Tourism would thrive and cover any losses. I can't believe this.
The fallacy is the impact of domestic tourism.
Domestic tourism only moves money around within the kingdom, i.e. it does not increase wealth of the kingdom. International tourism brings wealth generated in other nations and leaves it in Thailand.

So, admit the law is an impediment to investment to the targeted smart, wealthy, investor. But do not eliminate the impediment, only give it a break for 3 - 5 years after which the same impediment will still be in place.
Great move for long term planning of that smart, wealthy investor.....

Aging population problem is not unique to Thailand.
There is just not enough youngsters coming along to meet the financial obligations the previous generations committed them.

Never hurts to dream big, I guess.
But as stated on these pages so many times, relatively cheap and easy to get to is what fueled Thai tourism.
Eliminate either of those and there are too many other places relatively cheaper and easier to get to.

".........millions forced out of work and has plunged the country’s GDP to the lowest in the region......."
First time I recall seeing reported in such dire terms.
But I suppose this source is from outside the kingdom.

Don't understand. Don't all countries have variants.
Even Australia currently has 3 day lockdown in Brisbane. Borders to other states have been closed. Only 4 local transmissions. It's the UK variant.
Is there a country without variant
It's a virus. Virus mutates.
Every country will have "variants" as the weeks and months pass.

...about making it easier for foreigners to buy houses in Thailand.

Sorry, but I simply don't believe this. 'Buying a house' in my interpretation means owning (not leasing) the property (with its land/garden) in my name only. Any other scheme is just deception.
Agree.
If I can not leave it to my heirs to do with as they please it is not mine.
