  1. "Please, please, please elect ME! I'll say and do ANYTHING! Just elect me PLEASE!"

She just turned down the NRA's dirty money for her election campaign...

Seems she has something that no other American President has had... Balls

How much money did Trump take?

It is so easy to slam dunk (debate wise) non Americans talking about American politics on wonders why they keep trying?thumbsup.gif

  2. Doesn't matter where a woman is from. If you're inadequate as a man it will come back to bite you regardless of which country you go. Stop running away and fix yourself as a man then all will fall into pieces. Use a mirror as a start lol.

Do you mean women treat men as objecst and all they are lookng for is a pretty face/body?

  3. I have never denied that ISIS and other Islamic terrorists see themselves as Muslim; that's why I call them Islamic terrorists!

Surely even you can understand that!

One Muslim kid, or adult, born anywhere joining ISIS is one too many; but yes, it does happen. But for every Muslim who joins or even supports ISIS, millions don't.

Why can't you grasp that simple truth?

Why do you dismiss the condemnation of ISIS and other Islamic terrorist coming from Muslims all over the world?

Why do you ignore the fact that the majority of those fighting ISIS, and dying in that fight, right now are Muslims?

<deleted> has all this got to do with a nutjob taking his far too easily obtained gun to college and shooting and killing his college mates?

I can answer the last question; nothing.

What group kills people today because of their religion? America kills countries. The UK kills countries. The KKK and those groups kill people because of race. Fidel kills freedom loving people. What groups kills people today because of their religion?

If 10 black people were shot in the USA who would you suspect? If a country was attacked and overrun with thousands of military troops in the Middle East who would you suspect? If Iran's nuclear reactors were attacked who would you suspect?

If a Buddhist temple and school was burned and the monks and teachers beheaded in the South of Thailand would you suspect Buddhist red shirts or yellow shirts or the Thai military?

  4. Because her stunning incompetence and blinding naivety is only equaled by posters who waste time posting about her stunning incompetence and blinding naivety.

"... her stunning incompetence and blinding naivety..." does not lead her or any other tourism authorities to read this forum or any other media to find out what tourists think or want! No research into tourism is the way of the Ostrich (with head in sand). Ostrich = Kobkarn? whistling.gif

Seems to be a Thai trait - not wanting to learn from more successful people anywhere in the world. Promotion without research is a waste of time and money. But, I guess, do not understand "thainess".

I understand what Singapore has done in 50 years that Thailand cannot do in 100s of years! blink.png

You do know she and Hillary Clinton went to the same school?

Define "school". School of thought or what? blink.png

    University

  5. Her blinding naivety and stunning incompetence is equalled by almost every other member of the junta. So why are we wasting our time and energy making comments?! Time will judge this authoritarian cabal for ther inability to run a country. There are many more choices for tourists looking for Asian culture and enjoyment. Thailand is past it's sell by date and no longer has what many travellers want. Decline is inevitable.

  6. I have just read about an 11 year old boy having an argument with an 8 year old girl neighbour, going into his house and shooting dead the girl with his father's shotgun. There is something wrong with a society that brings up a child to think the answer to a problem is to reach for the shotgun

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-3260856/Boy-11-accused-killing-8-year-old-neighbor-shotgun.html

It isn't the gun laws that need changing it is the whole way of life which is a great deal harder

Yes the whole country is just like an 8 year old from rural Tennessee. Astute observation. Did I tell you how much America misses Piers Morgan?

  7. Insisting that teachers only speak Thai rather than issan (in this NE area) and allowing the kids to ask questions in classrooms would go a long way to starting things off.

Reality will prevent the masses receiving anything approaching an education. The reality being that education is power and strength. It's far easier to control the masses with a little money and a lot of fear. Spirits, ghosts and the dark keep most adults in check here.

You don't think the people from Issan should learn how to speak proper Thai? Those folks are discriminated against enough without adding poor language skills to the mix.
    ???

Perhaps the English language is not your best subject. I think that it is essential for local village kids to speak Thai (not issan) at school. If they don't speak it at school then it's highly unlikely that they will be able to communicate confidently with Thai speakers, because they sure won't learn much of anything in the home.

Oh sorry. Now I get what you were sayng.

  8. first they come for your religion, then they come for your family values, then weapons....Nazi Germany, Russia, all tyrannical regimes start this way

....pop quiz: why did Homeland Security purchase billions of rounds of ammo a couple of years ago?

when those politicians get rid of their armed personal security agents I may retire my Glock.....maybe not.

This forum is hazardous to your mental health..."my cold, dead fingers, Mofo..."

The prob is mental health and the use of dangerous drugs; among which is the American school system...pass the Ritalin, please

Don't forget they take your INTERNET if you don't have a gun. Why do you folks think America does not have coups?

  9. Obama never really tried to do much about gun control. Please name a bill he tried to push through. And contrary to the right wing nutters he never was interested in taking our guns. Oh yea in case I haven't mentioned, left wing radical militants have guns also, lots and are damn good with them. Clinton on the other hand is a whole different ball game. Look at the history of the Clinton White House and know Hillary supported all of Bill's gun bans. Don't forget pappa Bush either. All this crap started when that idiot Hinkley shot Reagan, and didn't kill.....no further comment there, him. Gun control is hitting your target. Had not Reagan slashed mental health programs, followed by others maybe some of these idiots would have locked away. America doesn't have a gun problem it has a mental problem.

    http://www.ncsl.org/research/civil-and-criminal-justice/summary-president-obama-gun-proposals.aspx

    • Requires background checks for all gun sales and strengthens the background check system. This would include removing barriers under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act so that states may more freely share information about mental health issues involving potential gun purchasers.
    • Provides states with monetary incentives—$20 million in fiscal year FY 2013 and a proposed $50 million in FY 2014—to share information so that records on criminal history and people prohibited from gun ownership due to mental health reasons are more available.
    • Bans military-style assault weapons and limits magazines to a capacity of 10 rounds.
    • Provides additional tools to law enforcement. The plan proposes a crackdown on gun trafficking by asking Congress to pass legislation that closes “loopholes” in gun trafficking laws and establishes strict penalties for “straw purchasers” who pass a background check and then pass guns on to prohibited people.
    • Urges Congress to pass the administration’s $4 billion proposal to keep 15,000 state and local police officers on the street to help deter gun crime.
    • Maximizes efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime. The president calls upon the attorney general to work with U.S. attorneys across the country to determine gaps occurring in this area and where supplemental resources are appropriate.
    • Provides training for “active shooter” situations to 14,000 law enforcement, first responders and school officials.
    • Directs the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to issue a statement to health care providers that they are not prohibited by federal law from reporting threats of violence to the proper authorities.
    • Launches a national gun safety campaign to encourage responsible gun ownership and authorizes the Consumer Product Safety Commission to examine issues relating to gun safety locks.
    • Helps schools invest in safety. The president’s plan calls for more school resource officers and counselors in all schools through the Community Oriented Policing Services hiring program. The plan also calls for the federal government to assist schools in developing emergency management plans.
    • Improves mental health awareness through enhanced teacher training and referrals for treatment. The plan calls for the training of 5,000 additional mental health professionals nationwide. The plan also calls for coverage of mental health treatment under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008.
  10. I will be happy to enlighten you but I doubt you will find it any less offensive than my original response.

I have been a member of this forum going on 13 years so I consider myself well versed in which nationalities are apt to take a particular position on gun control. As you might recall there have been a plethora of such threads in recent years.

The overwhelming attitude towards the Second Amendment is a mixture of ridicule and scorn from many forum members emanating from the nations of England, Australia, New Zealand and the partners of the EU. The liberal progressive attitude is the lowly Americans have no idea what they are doing and somehow are threatening the well being of the world with the US' right to bear arms, notwithstanding the fact most of the critics of the Second Amendment have never been in the US, never lived in the US and have no plans to ever visit the US.

Nothing seems to be at fault except the weapons industry and the lack of laws. No fault lies with the medical profession for their confidentiality rules, the entertainment industry for their violent games or Hollywood for their graphic violence in movies.

First and foremost is, nobody seems to think the parents should bear any responsibility for the actions of their offspring who have turned against society and decided to mass murder innocent people. There doesn't appear to be any soul searching on their part trying to figure out where they went wrong and what they might have been able to do to avoid tragedies such as this.

The interview I watched on CNN with the shooter's father was blaming the availability of guns as the sole reason his son went south on humanity.

And this, kind sir, is the general attitude that is voiced on this forum by members of those nations mentioned above. It's all the fault of the gun owners and gun laws.

You might want to rethink what you consider to be vile and odious.

How about the murder of nine innocent young people by a crazed maladjusted individual as a starter?

Agree with you on one point, many non-americans don't understand the obsession with the right to bear arms. I'd go even further though, and say that many Americans don't understand that obsession either. And I have not seen convincing arguments in favor of that right, only arguments that show a limited point of view.

Regarding your implied point 'know the area and you're allowed to discuss on it', I have been to the US, so following your reasoning am allowed to discuss it. I've even been to Yankee and Confederate areas, so am allowed to discuss on that. Hell, I've even been to Israel, multiple times, so I'm allowed to discuss on that as well, ever been to Israel?

    Yep. I've been all over.

If you wish, you might want to check my posts and see how many I have made in the many threads on the forum dealing with Scotland's break with the UK and the UK break with the EU.

I used to visit Scotland for golf vacations and drove from London to Scotland many times. Do those trips qualify me for an in-depth conversation about the secession matters?

I think not, so I choose to keep my mouth shut when it comes to matters that I have little knowledge of or personal concern about.

That little piece of advice might cover a multitude of posts and posters that somehow believe a brief visit to the US qualifies them as an expert on life in the US.

One thing that is being tragically overlooked in all this discussion on the school shootings and mass murders is this simple fact...

This really isn't a gun control issue. It is a mental health issue.

Don't confuse your opinions with facts. And don't forget that the main difference between other countries and the US is the right to bear arms. Medical profession regulations, video games and hollywood movies are in the bigger picture the same worldwide. Gun laws and gun violence are not.

Do you think that gun control vs hate crime/mental health issue opinions follow any patterns? Citizens vs non citizens for example?

I'd stop providing guns to countries in the Middle East and Asia. No sweat of my nose and I think it's a good idea. Turn all your weapons in or we Nuke you. Let them go back to swords. Lets face it the people killed in the MIddle East and Asia dwarf any gun deaths in America.

I'd send all the migrants in the world to Australia. They only use 10% of the land and they have the room. No problem for me.

  11. Your words:

"So in the UK a Muslim guy chops off soldiers heads with a knife and in the US a Muslim guy shoots people."

"The thread is about a Muslim guy asking students who is a Christian and then shooting them."

"He is most certainly a Muslim."

"GotNews.com Confirms: Oregon Shooter is 26-Year Old Muslim"

And many more of those statements from you, where you clearly say he was muslim.

I think you will find as the thread progressed and we got more information it became clear that the initial reports of him being a Muslim were premature. I think my posts reflected that change. I believe that when the media gets over it's fear of starting a religious war and releases the information on the shooters flash drive and other information we will all have an idea of where his sympathies lie.

I'm sorry, sure looks like I called him a Muslim. I posted so many other times that I didn't, I forgot.

    My error and I apologize.

I don't believe your apologies are sincere, you're only saying this because you got caught lying.

No need to answer this, I know (more than) enough.

I was wrong and I apologized. That is what gentlemen do. When I make a mistake I admit it. I'm not a religious nut. I don't believe in 77 virgins after death or the virgin birth or any saviors or any prophets. I don't trust the Pope or any other religions version of the Pope. I think they are all crazy and to be avoided at all costs and I would prohibit anyone who believes in any religion from owning a gun if I could. Does that explain it for you?

  12. I'm not a Christian nor Muslim unlike you I have no dogs in this hunt. I'm only an impartial observer. What groups in the USA kill white/other/but not all black, Christians?
    Tell us who?

Then provide evidence to show why this guy did it.

When people talk the first one asking the question is answered by the second person. If I knew I would tell you. I asked the question first now it is your turn to answer.

You asked the question first. What are you 12?

You made the assertion it was done by a muslim. You cannot back that up so it is clear bigotry in play.

It is a hate crime. He killed people because of their religious beliefs. Current non state sponsored religious nonsense is Muslims kill Christians. Muslims kill Jews. I don't think there are groups of radical Christians or Jews going around declaring war on random Muslims. I could be wrong. I don't think reporting on what I read in the newspaper makes me a bigot.

Below is a link for Muslims killing Christians. I have not been able to find one for Christians killing Muslims since 911 to compare the two. Like I said before I have no emotional thing with this as I'm not a Christian or a Muslim only an impartial observer. I don't live in America. I only know what I read in the papers.

  13. I didn't say the Oregon attack was by a Muslim. I included a link of Christians being killed recently in terror attacks. Look at the countries that the Christians were attacked in. What is the predominant religion on those countries? Make up your own mind. Why ask me?

    http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/pages/christianattacks.htm

    Yes, you did.

No I didn't. Just because 100 other recent murders of Christians were carried out by Muslims does not mean that the one in Oregon was.

    My error and I apologize.

  14. Well you see it wrong.

But again what has it to do with this thread. There is no muslim connection in this.

The Federal Security Services (FSB) is reporting today that an American black-Islamist terror suspect, who yesterday committed an act of mass murder in the State of Oregon (United States), had been included on a list of 87,000 “known/suspected” Islamic terrorists that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) refused last month to accept from the Federation due to its not being “politically viable in the present atmosphere”.

    http://www.eutimes.net/2015/10/oregon-mass-shooter-on-terror-list-obama-refused-to-take-from-russia/

Oregon mass murderer Chris Harper Mercer is linked to a Muslim man who praised Islamic terrorism, a survey of one of his social media accounts reveals.

    http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/10/02/oregon-shooter-linked-to-man-praising-islamic-terrorism-kill-the-jews/

  15. You are right. I'll enclose a list of a hundred or so attacks on Christians since 9/11 below. Although most of the attacks listed below are in predominantly Muslim countries so I don't think you are correct on the statement about the USA. Actually very few attacks on Christians in the USA.

    http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/pages/christianattacks.htm

What does that have to do with children needing to be protected by guns.

What does this topic have to do with muslims?

Please provide evidence. I have asked before and yet you still cannot.

I didn't say the Oregon attack was by a Muslim. I included a link of Christians being killed recently in terror attacks. Look at the countries that the Christians were attacked in. What is the predominant religion on those countries? Make up your own mind. Why ask me?

  16. Those are not aviator wings, they are jump wings. The Thai Border Police run a jump school in Cha-am. The Thais are ga-ga over parachuting. My theory is that this dates to the 1960s when all of their US advisors were jump-qualified and set up a paratrooper school. (US troopers could earn Thai parachutist's wings by making a few jumps). Note that a Thai cop can get a set of "wings" by completing a few jumps from what the US Army calls the "34-foot" tower and never jumping from an aircraft/helicopter.

    See http://www.nationreligionking.com/police/borderpatrol/paru/airbornetraining/

I know a young man whose father is very famous in Thailand. He joined the police and said the same thing about the tower. He made the jump.

  17. I have them check all the Chinese made stuff I buy in Chinatown and 5-10% is dead , most check it anyway without asking because so many are bad out of the box , This is cheap stuff like LED lights , flashlights and small electronics ,

I really think that the Chinese send the "seconds" to 3rd world countries at a lower price than the First Quality stuff that goes to the west , they are not going to throw it away !

I doubt that Lazada checks anything before shipping , not enough hours in the day and then it looks like it was already "used" and not tested in front of you .

the same would go if you bought it in eBay, Amazon or Lazada , you just need to hope its good and the seller knows and trusts his suppliers,

These same problems happen if you buy from one of the many vendors in a mall like Tukcom or Pantip. If it's a Chinese knockoff, good luck getting them to deal with it. Some do, some don't.

OP: what type of electronic did you purchase? As Charlie stated, COD is a great way to go. And so far, I've only bought stuff that Lazada supplies directly, unless it is cheap and not electronid! Great service.

as I said I bought a tablet. COD is not a "great way to go" In future I will use Paypal. It protects the buyer and acts as a third party between you and seller.

    What kind of tablet?

  18. I disagree with you.

A teacher can set the right atmosphere, but if she/he doesn't get the right backing from above then it is pointless.

I have quit 2 university jobs where the policy was " don't fail the students".

Students attended classes without books, took exams and got as low as 10%. Couldn't fail them as they were "paying customers".

This even happened at graduate level.

Interesting difference. I quit a job because the administration wanted me to fail students and you quit a job because the administration would not fail students.

I wonder what that says about us as teachers?

  19. I will not be surprised if the Thai tax folks start to require a complete tax return from expats who file for interest refunds, simply because of the volume of refunds now involved and the popularity of this process amongst expats. The risk of course is that overseas pension payments paid into an account in Thailand become taxable in the year they are remitted here, rental income is also taxable of course - expect tax to represent the next big push for revenue from expats (and others).

Name of the Tax treaty "Convention Between The Government Of The United States Of America And The Government Of The Kingdom Of Thailand For The Avoidance Of Double Taxation And The Prevention Of Fiscal Evasion With Respect To Taxes On Income"

There is no risk for overseas pension payments paid into an account in Thailand.

There will be no tax on your pension/SS here. They are exempt from taxes.

  21. What is the point when the students are forced to not ask questions by the teachers?

Teachers do not know the subject they are teaching, except about Thai.

Most schools are little more than childminding services.

Lastly, reducing school hours will only make the problem worse.

My students in Thailand always asked a lot of questions. I guess a lot of things are taboo to ask questions about. Censorship is the first thing to get rid of.

  22. The "Wings" are 'Pre Para' wings.

The Thai equivalent of completing "P" company in UK Army.

No jumping from an Aircraft, a US Style 'Tower' drop being carried out.

At least one CM restaurant owner has done the course, ask him over a Sausage.

    john

I will apologize in advance to all UK Para's for comparing the Thai course to 'P' Company.

Are these fellows getting into some kind of tower then?

    Ratings are as follows:

    • Tower: Students who have successfully completed jump tower training.

    • Third Class: 6 to 29 static line jumps from an aircraft.

    • Second Class: 30 to 64 static line jumps from an aircraft.

    • First Class: 65 or more static line jumps from an aircraft.

    • Special Class: Completion of freefall training.

    • Honorary Class: Given in recognition for helping the Thai Border Patrol Police and Royal Thai Police.
