  1. Posting 101: try and use the quote function unless trying to scam the poster. I realize your post would look redundant if you used the quote function in this case but it is what it is.

    2) You will not use ThaiVisa.com to post any material which is knowingly or can be reasonably construed as false, inaccurate, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law

    Logic 101.

    http://www.breitbart...munity-college/

CNN, Breitbart News and Former US Marshal Art Roderick look like good reputable media sources to me. If you think posting current stories from CNN and Breitbart news are a violation of forum rules by all means report the posts and have them removed.

Although you could have done that without all the bickering posts in between.

  2. I have spent many an afternoon on the bar stool there just watching the world go by. Different strokes for different folks. If we liked the same thing it would be a boring world.

BUT!!! Can someone, anyone, please confirm whether it is all closed now, many thanks in anticipationthumbsup.gif

Why not go down and have a look. If it is closed there are 37 other bars in close proximity in case you want a drink.

  3. So saying the place was a gun free zone may be true or may not be?

I'd ask CNN, Breitbart and Former US Marshal Art Roderick. I appreciate the fact that you think I know everything that's what I tell my wife. When you asked before I gave you my source what more do you want me to do? http://www.breitbart...munity-college/

On August 2 Breitbart News reported that eight attacks with firearms in gun free zones in the last eight years resulted in the lost of 105 lives and the wounding of 150 others. Those attacks were on the Lafayette Grand Theater (July 23), Chattanooga (July 16), Fort Hood (April 2, 2014), DC Navy Yard (September 16, 2013), Sandy Hook Elementary (December 14, 2012), Aurora movie theater (July 12, 2012), Fort Hood (November 5, 2009), and Virginia Tech (April 16, 2007)

I care about what it true or at least what can be shown to be viable. CNN or anyone else can say what they like but I am asking YOU if it was a gun free zone since YOU said it was.

How would I know? I have not been to Oregon since they closed the Oregon trail. Are CNN and Breitbart News trusted sources?

    Make up your own mind.

  4. The whole street is a dump....why try to pretend otherwise?

I avoid it like the plague.

Similar for most of the area from Soi 4 to Terminal 21....with three or four exceptions.

Would you believe there are really human beings who eat Haggis? Sheep's pluck (heart, liver and lungs); minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock.

    I'd rather die.

But it's all in the eye of the beholder unless one is god.

I had a picnic on the sidewalk in front on Nana Plaza at 4AM me and 4 ladies and a dozen entrees including bugs. We all sat there right on the sidewalk no chairs on bamboo mats and ate all drunk as lords. Right there in the middle of the sidewalk. Where else could you do that?

  5. This should be setting alarm bells for a much bigger picture, the Junta are here to stay, forget elections in 2017, these bozos are going to remain the power holders in this country indefinitely.

Anyone who sees this differently has their head buried in the sand, and will be fluent in Ostrich in no time at all!!

Inch by inch.... little by little.... then many will conclude.... holly hell how did this happen. Beware of the "foot in the door" technique.

Got in an argument with the wife last night. She said it would never happen. I wrote on the wall. Wife said no Great Firewall of Thailand Oct 2, 2015.

  6. Thanks for that. I was not aware of those places, I have a lot of lesbian friends and never knew where to take them.

Usually only three options where to take them whistling.gif

They were getting tired of the swimming pool shows and the movies with bed seating. I'm not really big on Lesbian bars as I've had some bad experiences in the USA but I'm sure they are nicer in Thailand. Did you like them?

  8. 99% of Thais simply wont care, as long as theyve got facebookto gawk at all day and simpleton games thats all theyll need

China blocks google and facebook and has now gone after VPNs I think. One would think with all the problems on facebook it would be the first to go in the great wall of Thailand.

I think this will put the kids in the street.

  9. There have been reports from other sources of this happing at Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Amnat Charoen, Rayong, All Division 4 offices, 11 answers to Korat.

Khon Kaen: four times, never under consideration and from the small circle of expats also not heard of.

The female boss (Captain) countersigns in minutes and there you go.

She is there since my first visit in 2011.

This may have been what I saw.

Women caught in fake marriage registration scam

    http://www.nationmultimedia.com/national/Women-caught-in-fake-marriage-registration-scam-30245742.html

Excuse me but you are worring people half to death about a 30 day review for a retirement extension and you are getting your information from the Nation? And it "may" - "may" be what you saw?

Every time an immigration topic is posted like today you are in CM forum posting the same stuff about the 30 day review for retirement extensions. You are there, everywhere trying to scare the old guys.

And you are not even sure where you saw wrong information that is not involved in a retirement extension?

You posted that Rayong and Khon Kaen and all division 4 offices had 30 day under consideration stamps and that is totally false and the best excuse you can offer is a typo and a story about marriage extensions?

I hope Thai Visa has some credibility but you should have a notice next to your name that you are not a reliable poster. Sorry but this is an important topic for many people and you should be sure before you post false information. You might effect people's lives by your falsehoods.

  10. The students were killed in a gun free zone as that is one of the laws.

You state that it was a gun free zone. Are you 100% sure?

Roderick’s exact words: “[The gunman] probably knew that the facility was a gun free facility, [which is] an easy target for these kinds of coward individuals. They know they’re not going to get any response unless they happen to run into security or a campus police officer.”

    http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/10/01/former-us-marshal-oregon-gunman-chose-gun-free-facility-umpqua-community-college/

Am I sure? All I know is what I read in the papers. Have not been to America in years and to Oregon not since the wagon trains rolled in settlers.

  11. Dennis is a funny name for a girl. The news story said male employees and female customers.

Perhaps you should check out some of his other postings.........

    Comprehension may dawn......wink.png

I was being nice. Dennis did not read the article and does not realize that the bar in question is for ladies to find men not men to find women hence the customers are women and the employees are males. There are at least 3 types of bars in Pattaya. Bars with female bar workers for male customers and male bar workers for male customers and male bar workers for female customers. I've never seen one with female bar workers for female customers. The States has a lot of these but I've never seen one in Pattaya.

And what you this was then?

  12. Been there, done them biggrin.png

  13. For all you experts. Finland is in the top 1 to 3 education systems in the world.

Finland does not give their kids standardized tests.

It is not mandatory to give students grades until they are in the 8th grade.

Finnish schools don't assign homework, because it is assumed that mastery is attained in the classroom. thumbsup.gif

    http://www.thedailyriff.com/articles/the-finland-phenomenon-inside-the-worlds-most-surprising-school-system-588.php

Thought this is the Thai Visa Forum? Sorry, logged into the wrong forum. My mistake.

No problem. I'm used to teachers with low reading skills. The topic is no fail grading system and a sucessful example of no fail grading in fact no grading at all is Finland. wai.gif Thailand could learn a lot from Finland as they went from a poor to a great education system and one of the tools used was eliminating grading.

You might be used to women with low loving you skills. I think I've got you on that. Psychology is my favorite one. But don't worry, you're not alone.

No, your flame, however funny is not accurate. I taught on a college level in Thailand and encountered many future teachers with low reading skills. Grading students in the primary grades in good school systems like Finland is a thing of the past. You might want to look into the merits of improving education and try to help your students get better.

I don't know; are you a professional teacher or a backpacking person here for a few months?

The OP brings up an interesting point. Most advanced educators decided long ago that grades were counterproductive to learning but the OP has not figured this out or maybe never knew or maybe never took a decent education course to get a decent education degree.

In any event it is an interesting topic for those of us who have been exposed to adcanced education theory and practice. It would be nice to discuss it without all of the insults.

  14. No one yet in this thread has asked why these killings occurred. I find that odd. The perp asked the students if they were Christian and if they said yes he killed them. Seems obvious to stop this particular type of killing (knowing there are other methods of killing besides guns) the answer would be to stop Christianity. If none of the students said they were Christian no one would have been killed. wai2.gif At different times China and Russia pretty well stopped religion why not America? UK has almost got Christianity stopped down to 29% now I think https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_the_United_Kingdom

  15. The is no "answer" but USA should follow lead of gun control , made by AU government some years back.

Gun control is not just about mass shootings. It is more about the access that just about anyone has to buy guns in USA . However I believe wall Mart has stop selling MK16

I agree with you. More people have guns now than when Australia started the buy back program in 1996 I think it was eh?

As of 2015 about 815,000 people had a gun licence in Australia and there was around 3.5 to 5.5 million Registered Firearms in Australia.

I think just about anybody can get a gun in Australia provided they are:

    18 years or over

Judged as a fit and proper person

    Have undergone a firearms safety training course and;

Have provided documentation about the storage arrangements in which they will secure the firearm.

    I think that's a good idea although I'm a little concerned that

Since the gun ban, Australia has issued 37,000 gun licenses in the past five years, a jump from 177,675 to 215,462. In New South Wales (NSW), gun ownership has gone up 10%.

Alarmingly, in 22 of the state’s 600 postcodes, registered guns outnumber people.

  16. Presumably the complaints were about noise? At 6am? The place needs shutting down - permanently!

plenty of other karaoke bars in the area that go all night, usually they turn up the volume as the suns coming up

You have to feel kind of sorry for them. The ladies don't get off work till 2 AM then shower and change gets them to the bar about 3AM not much time to sing and dance.

  17. ...you are the only one that can be failed.....

Do you know how to use the quote function so people understand who you are talking to? I get it. You failed the quote function posting test and you is a typo. Sorry. If you need help I'm sure there are instructions somewhere on how to post. smile.png

  18. It's amusing and astonishing to see teachers in this discussion thread berating each other. The amusement comes from observing the typographical errors, misspellings, grammar and outright ignorance of logical argument. The astonishment comes from the loss of focus on the welfare of the children you are allegedly teaching.

Call yourselves teachers? Pig's arse. You are teaching here because you wouldn't make the grade in any Western country.

Don't forget the quality of invective like, "Pig's arse."

  19. For all you experts. Finland is in the top 1 to 5 education systems in the world.

    Top Education systems

    1. South Korea
    2. Japan
    3. Singapore
    4. Hong Kong
    5. Finland

    http://www.edudemic.com/learning-curve-report-education/

And how much homework do the top countries give? Ans assessment?

Finland is in the top countries and they don't give any.

  20. Yet again...

Mandatory gun ownership (2 of) for every man, woman and child is the quite obvious answer.

and offcourse a few assault rifles an handgrenades

I think you guys are off topic. The thread is about a Muslim guy asking students who is a Christian and then shooting them. It's a common theme in the Middle East and has arrived numerous times on Western shores. Why are you trying to make it about gun control?

Why was someone of British origin who was known to be a supporter of an Irish terrorist organisation (IRA) allowed to legally buy 13 guns?

The IRA has never been a problem in the USA as far as I know and I doubt anyone is looking through social media about historical interests. More important would be his friend, Mahmoud Ali Ehsani. Is that an IRA sounding name?

  21. Nope. He disliked organized religion and the organized religion pervasive where he was is Christian. Simple as that. There are enough Muslim Jihadists that are real without inventing fake ones.

Nope. It's a hate crime. Who cares if he is a Muslim. Of course he is a Muslim in deed because who else kills Christians in America.

Since you have been claiming for quite some time he is a Muslim, even when it had been shown already he most likely was not, you obviously care. And you keep sprouting your bigoted nonsense.

    1. It's a hate crime by legal definition. 2. 3,106 killed,1600 injured by Muslims in America in 75 terror attacks. What other group is murdering Americans in these kind of numbers?

  22. imported meats, fruits, trusted brand names

    cheesy.gif

So you pay large to eat imported fruit when it's fresh off the tree in LOS, meat when it's fresh killed in LOS, western "brands" full of chemicals ( ever read those labels? ).

I suppose you think Thai food is full of sprays etc, but western processed food is hardly free of chemicals, and the Thais seem to survive just as well as westerners ( and westerners are very unhealthy ).

You say "western brands full of chemicals"

    well...

Some stuff I occasionally bought in Thailand:

Pasta from Italy = 0 chemicals (according to the label)

    Olive oil (Spain/Italy) = 0 chemicals

    Granola (Netherlands/Germany) = 0 chemicals

Peeled tomatoes (Italy) = 0 chemicals

Italian mixed herb spices = 0 chemicals

    Olives (Spain/Greece) = 0 chemicals

By the way in my home country men live 9 years longer than in Thailand, but I'm not sure that food is the cause, probably more because of the the healthcare system, less traffic accidents, less alcoholism, etc

Fair enough, you got me there, but MOST of the imported processed food is full of chemicals. Even back in country of origin, the stuff in supermarkets is usually processed and full of chemicals.

BTW, why would anyone buy imported tomatoes when the markets have shelves full of them? Does travel make them taste better?

Just to be off topic a bit, while men may live longer back home, for most it's not "living", stuck in a rest home in front of a tv all day. In fact that is my idea of hell on earth, and if I die sooner by living in LOS, all the better for me.

They are already peeled so great for pasta sauce. Thai tomatoes are not that tasty. Plus I like Italian ingredients, as they respect their products and its always great quality and taste.

As for long life: as they say - let's talk when you are 71 ...

Tomatoes are easy to peel and with three different kinds of fresh basil easy to cook. After cooking tomatoes with basil, oregeno, cayenne, garlic and onion and salt and pepper how on earth can one tell the difference between Italian tomatoes grown in Italy and Italian tomatoes grown in Thailand?
