I have little doubt there were a handful of quality tourists from China pre-Covid. But among those appalling herds trotting behind their flag-waving guides they were not. And that has been the vast, vast, vast majority of Chinese visitors, was it not? So what exactly is it going to be that will turn that situation around post-Covid? Short answer: Nothing.
Bring back those Nigerians!! They must spend a lot, given the amount of time they tend to stay here!! ????

Used underwear
Knowing my luck, I'd probably get a pair of my own used undies back!
Or, as it went at my last medical with the doctor trying to explain to me without my understanding Thai:
Doctor: "We will need a blood sample, a stool sample, a urine sample and, possibly, a semen sample to start with".
Me (to my Thai wife): "What did he say?"
My wife (to me, in Tinglish): "He says he needs a pair of your underpants!"

I am going to give TVF a rest for a while.
Since they sold out our attention to The Nation, the amount of advertising has been ridiculous. You can barely see 20% of a page now for the ads top, side, bottom, middle, those really frikkin annoying boxes that appear with some idiot rappers!!
This on top of the sometimes "over enthusiastic" moderators (do they get paid?), kills the experience for me.
Just look at the screen shots from one topic's 5 minute peruse and tell me if the advertising is not OTT!!

Obviously he loves the lifestyle, the slow pace, the weather, his dog, what else is there to know. Don't judge someone unless you walk a mile in their shoes first. Everyone is different and has a belief system as well as there own values. Do not paint everyone with the same brush you paint yourself with. Rushing to judgment is easy to do, but it is a fools errand.....enjoy your life wherever you may be, but never try to put your values onto someone else...There's your break
Absolutely! Walk a mile in their shoes before you diss them.
Then you are a mile ahead and can start running safe in the knowledge that they have no shoes on!

They could still recover the planes, which other stakeholders may not be able to. So now it becomes a fight for what is left over.
Who can they lease them to now? Apparently we are a long way away from the cheapo travel of the past!

I am not sure if someone has raised this before, but what are the likely costs for adding a small pool (say, 4mx3mx1.5m) to my new house builds?
Recommendations for suppliers in the Lampang/Chiang Mai area appreciated guys!
Thanks

Unfortunately, if you read the contract you signed, you are most likely liable for damages to the bike you rented even if it wasn't your fault. That doesn't mean what they want is a realistic assessment of the damage to your rented bike.
If it's the usual <deleted>ty scooter, 50,000 will almost certainly buy a new replacement (not that your scam artist would replace it anyway, he'd just go to Somchai around the corner and have it fixed up for under 5,000!)

Are they serious? To achieve an average compliance of over 97% across the four business areas is phenomenal in Thailand!

The Covid-19 Riddle: Why Does the Virus Wallop Some Places and Spare Others?
Experts are trying to figure out why the coronavirus is so capricious. The answers could determine how to best protect ourselves and how long we have to. May 3, 2020 Updated 11:28 a.m. ET
The coronavirus has touched almost every country on earth, but its impact has seemed capricious. Global metropolises like New York, Paris and London have been devastated, while teeming cities like Bangkok, Baghdad, New Delhi and Lagos have, so far, largely been spared. ...
Cultural factors, like the social distancing that is built into certain societies, may give some countries more protection, epidemiologists said.
In Thailand and India, where virus numbers are relatively low, people greet each other at a distance, with palms joined together as in prayer. In Japan and South Korea, people bow, and long before the coronavirus arrived, they tended to wear face masks when feeling unwell.

Thanks for the replies and advice gents. I have lived a few months in Chiang Mai before so I know where to go there. Hell of a long bike ride for a beer though!
Cheers to all and stay safe and healthy!

Yeah I don't understand that at all. What does it have to do with coronavirus ?
It has nothing to do with the virus and eveything to do with suppression of the plebes.
Because they can!

G'day all. I was just wondering if there is any size of an expat community in or around Lampang?
We are relocating and consolidating around our properties in Lampang, leaving Bangkok at last.
Would be good to know where to go for a friendly beer and a chin wag!

This was just a stupid PR exercise from the very outset.
Thai pockets have a one-way, non-return valve.
Money comes in, stays in and never goes out to the Thai public again.
The largely stolen or misappropriated billions are destined to mostly be spent abroad anyway.

The third choice is to wait for other countries to come up with a vaccine and then import it.
Pretty sure that is the most likely outcome. I can't recall Thailand ever developing anything that is medically massed produced globally.
Surely you are forgetting Thaiand's cure for AIDS, cancer and ..... so on and so forth....

"...that would feed one tiger for one day
Neither the zoo staff, nor the owner, said that, it was the Australian posting the video making a wild guess.
Duh! ,the bit about feeding one tiger for one day was within the parentheses, along with the rest of the quote! So, where and why would you change the reporting to suit your own version of the story?
For someone who has named himself "The Word", you seem to have a fragile grasp on how words are used and the punctuation associated with them!

This is what I am hearing from my wife and her friends.
The word on the street is that the government is about out of cash.
There is growing discontent at some of the measures being taken, like massive increases in the price of your electricity. Some consumers are seeing a 4-fold increase, well above what could be expected by extra usage due to being locked down somewhat.
Be very careful to check your electricity bills this month and compare the rates to previous bills!!
