  1. Bang Khae district with easy access to MRT Blue line, BTS, extensive public bus system and two motor ways. Several large shopping malls and nearby Siam University. Bang Khun Thian district less shopping malls, train service to Samut Sakorn and BTS, Rama 2 motor way. Reliable and inexpensive taxi service and song taews. My experience is that due to lack of foreigner tourists in the area, cost of living is 10%+ less than in Metro Bangkok.
  2. There are multiple answers but I'll offer one. The Speaker of the US House is second in line of succession to the POTUS behind only the VPOTUS. It is a position of congressional power above the other 434 members of the House and on par with the Majority Leader of the Senate. A good reason not to allow Majorie Greene now booted from the House Freedom Caucus any real House leadership power.
  3. There are four major variants or strains of flu, of which more than one can be given in the same injection. In Thailand three variants H1N1, H3N2 and B viruses are most widespread and you can get with a trivalent flu shot or marginally increase your protection with a quadvalent injection. Obviously, more expensive than a single variant shot.
  4. Is Thailand really not operating now within a military coup leadership?
  5. It's called corporate greed. Lower manufacturing costs, increase profit margins. Corporations put profit ahead of nationalism unless the latter gives them an economic advantage, ie., trade wars. European sanctions against Russia and cancellation of Russian energy supplies due to the Ukraine war was a national security issue resulted in increased domestic manufacturing costs that cut profits and added to inflation. Thus, the corpirate gold rush to China for its cheaper manufacturing cost, lack of energy sanctions and better profit margins.
  6. Not a favorite by horses either. I used Ivermectin Paste Dewormer monthly in the mouths of my Arabian horses. They hate the sticky paste and and when they see the tube, try to pull away.
  7. Well, except in the 1700's when UK citizens flooded the new British colonies in the New World (now America) seeking freedom of religion, rule of law, etc. and fought a rebellion against the UK for independence. And won.
  8. That would include 553,969 people registered by the Royal Thai Government in 2021 as stateless who aren't allowed out of government-controlled zones.
  9. "Privy Council at full strength after inclusion of Prayut", December 04, 2023 https://www.nationthailand.com/gallery/infographic/40033499 "The (Privy) councillors cannot be partisan and therefore cannot be members of the House of Representatives, Senate, Election Commission, Ombudsman, members of the National Human Rights Commission, judges of the Constitutional Court, judges of an Administrative Court, members of the National Counter Corruption Commission, members of the State Audit Commission, government officials holding a permanent position or receiving a permanent salary, officials of a state enterprise, other state official or holder of other position of member or official of a political party, and must not manifest loyalty to any political party." (my bold) Is Prayut out-of-order with his discontent?
  10. But sorry, Thailand still can't have German engines to be used in Thailand's purchase of Chinese submarines. Go Fish.
  11. "After the 19 September 2006 military coup, he helped the military junta (Council for Democratic Reform under the Constitutional Monarchy, CDR) draft a post-coup interim constitution. Political scientist Eugénie Mérieau cites Wissanu Krea-ngam, along with Meechai Ruchuphan and Borwornsak Uwanno, as leading examples of legal scholars who laid the juridical foundations for authoritarian rule in Thailand, and as exponents of a "legal-military alliance for illiberal constitutionalism." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wissanu_Krea-ngam At least Bangkok Post won't worry about self-censorship now.
  12. In 2021 Thailand removed kratom from the list of prohibited substances. Justification doesn't appear to be science-based or medical-based. Rather it was cited that "its consumption is part of traditional Thai cultural norms, and allowed possession and consumption. Decriminalization was aimed at encouraging economic activity." Sept. 15, 2022 https://tilleke.com Decriminalization of cannabis followed shortly thereafter, primarily as another economic incentive. But it seems the new Thai government has now labeled cannabis as a 'bad foreign influence.' And without any scientific justification or proven medical malfeasance, treating cannabis like all unauthorized drugs coming into Thailand illegally as an attack on the Thai people. It's like the new government feels it must show it is even more nationalistic (and xenophobic?) than the military-led government to remain in power, ie., through the next election against growing populism towards more individual freedom.
  13. Nothing of a sort unless you can cite a valid source. If one has immigration status in the US, ie., possess a green card, you only need an ID and proof of address. Same applies to U.S. visa holders living in the U.S. Even if an immigrant not holding a green card, just need to prove several acceptable forms of identity. Some US banking institutions allow a foreigner to open a bank account without needing a US address but must do so in person.
  14. A more recently used excuse by women is that they're having their period - wait for it.
  15. "Two pairs of sacred oxen" Isn't two pairs four oxen versus a pair which is two?
  16. It can be both or either. The legislative ministers, government and military tend to bring criminal defamation, while private businesses/individuals tend to bring civil defamation. But when as it appears in this case there is a conspiracy involved in defamation, it is beyond civil and can evoke criminal due process, arrest warrant.
  17. Not required under Thai laws. "Perception" of loss or damage to reputation is all that's required.
  18. Add: Israel passed a law to revoke the citizenship of Israeli Arabs and their residency rights. Only pureblood Jews have citizenship rights. Israel denies Arabs of both one state and two state solutions.
  19. From Guatama Buddha's perspective (The Satipatthana Sutta and Its Commentary - in part): "feces-and-urine coming out thus is neither that bhikkhu's own nor another's. It is just bodily excretion." "When from a water-vessel or calabash a person throws out the old water, the water thrown out is neither his nor other's. It simply forms parts of a process of cleansing. In the form of reflection proceeding in this way clear comprehension of non-delusion should be understood." Sounds like the child being unaware was actually making a blessing.
  20. Okay. What is your plan B while not replacing your current air con units? I assume you are not pleased with your current units (working poorly?) that you need during currently for very hot days and nights. Lazada shows many, many (67 pages) ac's for sale obviously in competition between manufacturers/suppliers. Are you saying they all are engaged in a conspiracy to deny you to replace your antiquated ac with another antiquated ac? I just Googled for used air cons in Thailand and found for example numerous offerings posted in Facebook marketplace of used ac units for sale. For example : used Cdu Daikin 30,000 btu for 5,000 baht - "it can be used normally." Don't expect any warranty.
  21. Wait for it. Trump will suggest injecting bleach into the brain to kill the worms.
  22. "Pichai identifies a steadily decreasing economic growth rate over the past twenty years." Genius! And what was the common political influencer over most of that time span? Authoritarian hardliners.
  23. Unnecessary and economically dangerous to add further already record national debt. There are traditional legislative mechanisms in place for funding, ie., reduce government spending and increase Treasury funds. If required for national security, reduce military funding for next 3 years for nonessential programs but apply taxes to RTM self-funding commercial programs. Raise taxes on the "one per-centers," on mega corporations, reduce VAT refunds on foreign purchases. The RTM will oppose all such remedies, so let it publically do so. Then retract the digital wallet scheme and blame the RTM for its obstruction. A brave, unprecedented move but Thavisin will show he's not anyone's political lapdog - might garner support from MFP supporters.
