New Zealander Caught Smuggling Cocaine in Passport at Phuket Airport
Srikcir replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
He could have tucked the package under his tongue or split it in half and tucked it into both ear canals. Not very likely immigration would look into these places. -

Thai Court Halts Nescafé Production and Imports Amidst Dispute
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This ruling, Nestlé notes, could have significant implications for small businesses, including local coffee shops and suppliers, as well as dairy and coffee farmers who face disruptions in their supply chain. So destroy Thai businesses. Not an issue? -
I view spoken American English as a free-for-all having no real limits of what can be included or distorted. It's a consequence of extreme freedom of speech. You'll find adoptions of foreign words in English, commonly from the community of the Romance languages (Latin, Spanish, French) and "street lingo." Certainly written English is more formalized for exactness and compliance for formal publication or presentations. Hasta con vista.

Commanders Face Heat Over Army Conscript Abuse Scandal
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There is allegedly a self-correction in treatment of conscripts in that conscription numbers will begin draw down in April 2024 and zero out by April 2027. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Thai_Armed_Forces But it appears the military has a difficult time breaking its military traditions of abusing conscripts. Just as it does with its propensity for military overthrow of elected Thai governments. -
Thailand Tackles US Tariffs: Plans for Trade Reform Unveiled
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Superficially, there is currently NO REAL ISSUE with Thailand's import of US beef into Thailand as it's a matter that he majority of imported beef comes from Australia and New Zealand "due to lower prices through free trade agreements with the United States being the fourth largest supplier of beef products to Thailand." (my bold). https://www.fas.usda.gov/data/thailand-thailands-beef-market Yes, Thailand imports beef from nearby suppliers where the shipping cost that is included in the value of the import has to be substantially cheaper from Asian-Pacific area nations than the US halfway around the world. Thailand isn't "cheating" the US on trade, it's just practical "kitchen" economics. Trump's new Day of Liberation tariffs against Thailand apart from violating current US FTA with Thailand (as Trump did with HIS USMCAS FTA) is just a fabrication. How does a nation negotiate trade with Trump who has no economic logic for his newly and unilateral tariff increases? Trump doesn't comply with international agreements, He just gets "OFF" being aggressive and making people/nations bend to his will(y). -
Tony Blair Cautions Starmer Against Retaliation Over Trump Tariffs
Srikcir replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Canadians give Trump the "elbow." Blair gives Trump the "knees." Trump demands that every country that trades with the US must have parity in trade value or that the US import value exceeds export value. A balance that is difficult if not impossible to achieve for many nations. -
Applies regardless of any visa currently held including any re-entry pass. Long Term Resident visa included according to BOI. Even though the form is formated as a visitor (the term "visitor" is mentioned in TDAC videos and articles) to Thailand, your country of residence cannot be Thailand and form requires information for departure from Thailand back to your origin country as if the trip to Thailand is part of a round trip. Hopefully there will be further refinement in the form.

Does the inequality ever make you uncomfortable?

Recently at my local 7/11 I filled a wheeled grocery cart of foods, milks and sodas, bill about 1,000 baht. The cashier took a photo of the cart, apparently overcome by the large purchase. To me a bargain purchase. -

Roadside Bomb Injures Nine Police Officers in Mae Lan District

No peace plans yet. It's been decades. Beyond PM Yingluck's peace talks does the Thai government care? "After deadly attacks, activists criticize Thai govt for stalled southern peace talks," Mar. 10, 2025 https://www.benarnews.org/english/news/thai/deep-south-violence-ramadan-peace-03102025142055.html “Now new violence affecting people has begun. Part of this may be due to operational shortcomings, but the government cannot deny responsibility for not showing clear intentions regarding the peace dialogue process, Since Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s government took office last August [2024], there have been no signs of Malaysia-brokered peace talks restarting." -
