Senior Military Officers' Early Retirement Plan Gets Approved
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The scheme might also be seen as reward for having created and contributing to operational ineffeciency (over 700 military generals who act as specialists but do not hold significant positions?) in the first place. Meanwhile the government can't fund its E-Wallet scheme for the millions of the Thai polity who are victims of military inefficiencies. -
200 Senators Report For Duty Amid Election Controversy
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Shouldn't there be a Royal Proclamation appointing the new selected Senate members (bypassing the Thai electorate) prior to embarking on Senate duties just as it was with appointment of the new PM and Cabinet? -
Thailand - the Hub of Unelected Officials. Really need to amend it's Constitution wherein the sovereignty of the nation belongs to the Thai Peoples.

Foreign man smashes car window and tries to assault Lao man
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
"The foreign man parked his motorcycle in the middle of the road, leaving his child sitting there." Hardly a safe place for the child to be (in the roadway) while the father engages in road rage. This attack is more about the father's ego than his child's safety. -
Impeachment Hearing for PM Srettha Delayed Again
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It's not like Thavisin overthrew an elected government in violation of the constitution. To which the CC never challenged the 2014 military junta abolishing the 2007 constitution as unconstitutional. Nor held as unconstitutional an unelected junta PM and junta-appointed House ministers. Makes one wonder just what "severe constitutional violations" constitute under the Rule of Law? -

Thailand Added To Human Rights Watchlist By International NGO
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not to forget 2014-2019 period by the same junta-based government. Thailand in its current governmental form will never get its seat back in the UN Human Rights Commission. -
Without any evidence. But there is evidence on the consumption of alcohol and cannabis use. For example: "IQ and Level of Alcohol Consumption—Findings from a National Survey of Swedish Conscripts", February. 20, 2015 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov Lower results on IQ tests are associated with higher consumption of alcohol. That's not to say that cannabis use has less affect on the brain than alcohol. "Effects of Cannabis on the Adolescent Brain", Jan. 1, 2015 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nim.nih.gov The majority of data support poorer cognitive performance on measures of attention and learning, and memory in adolescent users of cannabis. It would be scientifically and medically correct to have a fair and balanced government policy that treats both alcohol and cannabis equally. Imagine the consumption of alcohol requires a doctor's medical prescription.

Pheu Thai tries to regain public confidence after unfulfilled promises
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
So "many" that PTP couldn't achieve a majority 51% in the House, nor even a simple majority in the House that MFP had won, and required "many" of the unelected pro-military senators' vote to gain control of the government. In turn PTP did follow "many" of the failed economic and political policies of the former junta government because it seems that the PTP didn't want to upset the military. Thus crushing the hopes for a better future for the Thai electorate. -

Thailand's plan to increase oil reserves is challenged financially
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The US is the biggest oil producer in the world. So it uses SPR oil primarily to depress US refined oil when pil producers such ad OPEC attempt to raise oil prices, in effect to punish the US economy. When cost of foreign oil is cheaper than SPR oil, US buys so it can continue to leverage US consumer costs. In the alternative when US allies are politically pressured by international cartel oil price increases to alter their political agendas, the US can and has supplied cheaper energy to its allies. Problem for Thailand is as a net energy importer, it really can't play the same game. It would do better to expand its energy production to improve its energy sustainability and INDEPENDENCE. -
Former red-shirt leader plans protest against new govt initiatives
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Agreed. Sovereignty of the nation lies solely with Thai citizens. Even when foreigners must pay Thai income taxes, even when married to Thais, foreigners have no political power in Thailand by law. -
Uncertainty Surrounds Approval of Thailand's Submarine Deal
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Once you execute a purchase contract that requires a down payment and annual payments that cannot be stopped by parliament, you can't negotiate any other terms nor substitute the product, ie., for frigates, unless the product proves to be defective. Especially with China if you want it to continue to allow tens of millions Chinese tourists into Thailand. Thailand needs to question just how vital it's economic and security agreements are with China. -

Thailand allocates 15.3 billion baht for VIP aircraft and helicopters
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
500 billion baht required for the E-Wallet scheme will come from the budgets of fiscal 2024 and 2025, while 170 billion baht will come from the coffers of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives. In other words at the expense of the Thai people. Deputy Finance Minister Paophum said the economic impact of the E-Wallet scheme cannot be accurately predicted just yet. But no doubt the 12 billion baht for a new VIP aircraft and 3.3 billion baht for two mid-sized helicopters designated for "important passengers" will have zero economic impact. Albeit, save a lot of costs for VIP's. -
