Indonesia has plans already. 'Indonesia Submarine Capabilities,' Feb 17, 2023 national.org "Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder Perseroan Terbatas Penataran Angkatan Laut (PT-PAL) signed an agreement in February 2022 with the French defense contractor Naval Group to build two Scorpène-class conventional attack submarines in Surabaya with the possibility of ordering two more vessels. This procurement may replace the order of three additional Nagapasa-class submarines which Indonesia has been considering since 2019."

What Thais got for decades is a Kleptocracy, also referred to as thievocracy. It is a government whose corrupt leaders (kleptocrats) use political power to expropriate the wealth of the people and land they govern, typically by embezzling or misappropriating government funds at the expense of the wider population. Kleptocracies are generally associated with dictatorships, oligarchies, military juntas, or other forms of autocratic and nepotist governments in which external oversight is impossible or does not exist. Russian is a classic example. Definitely not a democracy. (from Wikipedia) -

US government tempts RTA with fleet of F-16 fighter jets
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Well....Thailand must keep in mind its security pact with China (thanks to the NCPO) if it wants to stay in good economic and political graces of China. "Chinese J-10 vs. US Air Force F-16", Mar 15, 2023 warriormaven.com (paraphrasing): The integration of 5th-gen-like F-35 technologies might seem to position the F-16 quite well against Chinese 4th-gen planes such as the J-10, J-11 and J-16. US plans to fly the jet into the 2040s. The question for the Thai government is whether is can act consistent with its sovereign independence on the US offer. South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan have operating with the F-16 or its manufactured variant. Maybe best for Thailand to punt. Sweden recently offered Thailand its Gripen fighter jets including F-16 similar networked sensor fusion and advanced radars. Thailand acquired the 12 Gripen fighter jets (now 11) from Sweden in 2011. Maybe Thailand's anticipated 35 million Chinese tourists for 2024 will make the decision as Thailand's GDP falters. -

Navy Chief Alarmed by Government's Delay on Chinese Submarine
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Since the NCPO, the government has purchased or on order Chinese armored vehicles and foreign hi-tech jet fighters. But nothing for the Navy. My take on this is that the navy isn't very useful in military coups. Hard to threaten protesting civilians by threatening to dock a ship. -

You can't qualify submariners/officers on something you don't 't have. Although I think with completion of the sub, present Thai submariner crews were to go to China for training and sea trials. -

Accidental Launch of Chinese Rocket Ends in Fiery Crash
Srikcir replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The only comparable accidental rocket failure in the US was in 1952 when a Viking 8 rocket broke free during a static test. So sorry to the 15 Space Pioneer investors who provided over $200 million funding in June 2024 and several hundred millions in 2023. Five of the investors are "state-linked." Might be some followup accidents. -

Move Forward Slams EC for Blocking Its Defence in Dissolution Case

That's how a constitutional monarchy works. The People (aka the Electorate) have sovereignty of the nation to control the authority of a monarch through agreed upon constitution and laws. Example the Magna Carta - prevent the king from exploiting his power, and placed limits of royal authority by establishing law as a power in itself. https://www.parliament.uk/magnacarta/ Representatives of the People have the right to propose new laws, amend laws and remove laws without premature interjection of the Courts or monarch in such legislative processes. But there is recourse to challenge any results, ie., a Constitutional Court. Practically in the present case, MFP is a minority coalition in the National Legislative Assembly (House and Senate) and unlikely to achieve passage of any of its proposals for changes in lèse-majesté laws. Should MFP achieve any degree of change through the majority vote of the NLA, the Court remains the final arbitrator. But that has already taken odd premature positions: Jan 21, 2563 BE — Thai court finds opposition party not guilty of sedition charge. Nov 11, 2564 BE — Thai Court Says Calls for Royal Reform May be Seditious. -

Most of your story-telling is deflection and irrelevant to the situation in Thailand's South. But there can be a successful peace if an oppressing nation like Thailand is willing. Case in point: The Philippines government faced a very similar situation with an indigenous Muslim population. Ironically, peace talks were aided by Muslim Malaysia who has been integral to all of Thailand's peace negotiations with Malay Muslims (they are not "Thai Muslims") of the Kingdom of Patani. Maybe you should question why Thailand has failed to achieve the same result. -

Paraphrasing from https://www.aa.com.tr/en/asia-pacific/muslim-patani-longs-for-peace-freedom-in-thailand/1978644 Buddhist Kingdom of Siam took control of Muslim Kingdom of Patani's entire territory by force and divided it into Thai seven provinces. Thai ruler, King Chulalongkorn, broke the peace treaty with the provinces in 1901 and launched a military campaign. It ended in 1909 with the Anglo (aka Great Britain)-Siam treaty*, which paved the way for the Kingdom of Siam to annex the Muslim Sultanate into the southern region of Thailand. No referendum of the Muslim people. Very similar to the 2014 Russian invasion and occupation of Crimea including displacement of many Ukraine citizens with Russian citizens. * Great Britain being motivated by a trade monopoly within the region in exchange for its treaty. Prior to 1909 the Kingdom of Siam recognized the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Patani in exchange for tribute. Seems that wasn't enough for a colonizing Kingdom of Siam. -
