  1. But does not align with asylum. While the Royal Thai Government does not have an asylum system for the protection of refugees, UNHCR becomes the only organisation responsible for receiving and processing asylum applications. As the Thailand Human Rights Commission was recently accredited by the UNHRC, Thailand should in spirit of the UNHRC consider careful treatment of the "illegal" persons.
  2. Just to note that "undocumented" is not synonymous with "illegal." Albeit, if they have as foreigners been working without work permits.
  3. This should not be the only agency to review A&L. The SEC and Department of Revenue should also be in the review. It's more than a matter of "unusual wealth" but how it was kept and/or disbursed.
  4. Why does it feel the local police have been compromised or worse yet, participants. Such is a perception when police delay investigation, refuse dialog with victim and deflect any assurances to the victim that investigation is proceeding with due diligence.
  5. Nice. But don't lose sight for increased funding basic programs for Thais such as National Health Program, subsidies for agriculture, manufacturing investments, etc. Need to cap military spending and new acquisitions.
  6. For almost 10 years with a non O-A visa I always file notification by mail with EMS tracking and enclosed post stamp return envelope. Only once did I never receive the return notification. For about seven years Tracking was acknowledged by an agent mark. Then no acknowledged mark but still received new 90 day notice in the mail. Now I have a LTR visa requiring notification annually, simply go to OSS ,Chamchuri Square Building, Bangkok (next to an MRT station) that has a window for LTR only. Submit LTR notification, receive next date placed in passport - 10 minutes.
  7. To post on the beach all the rules, it would take a billboard to cite everything. But maybe post some police on the beach who can and must directly warn beach violators.
  8. Bad for MAGA. Republicans who do not pledge allegiance to MAGA are voting for Harris.
  9. Putin should put him on the Dead Meat Brigades to fight in Ukraine. He deserves Russian propaganda of a good life in Russia. https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2022/08/22/life-in-russia-made-harder-and-harder-by-economic-sanctions_5994442_4.html US and the West will not miss him.
  10. If confirmed, Georgian Dream's victory would prove a blow to those Georgians who hope for closer integration with Europe in a vote billed as a choice between the West and Russia. Early official results with 70% of precincts counted, representing the majority of votes cast, showed the ruling party had won 53% of the vote, the electoral commission said. The results do not include most ballots cast by Georgians living overseas. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/georgia-votes-election-seen-stark-choice-between-russia-west-2024-10-26/ Putin will not allow a Georgian break away for sovereign independence. Otherwise Putin will have to conduct another Special Operation.
  11. More like "We ignore any official accusations." The Putin regime is incapable of truth outside its propaganda.
  12. What a great job opportunity. And cultural display for Italy. Maybe we'll see the Star of India - world’s oldest active sailing ship. https://sdmaritime.org/visit/the-ships/star-of-india/ I would like to see the USS Constitution, also known as Old Ironsides - a three-masted wooden-hulled heavy frigate of the United States Navy. She is the world's oldest commissioned naval warship still afloat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Constitution
  13. If the customer used an app such as K+ to make a transfer, couldn't the restaurant simply use an app to transfer money back to the customer?
  14. It's not the laws are weak but the emphasis of civil disobedience over criminal disobedience. The National Police seems less focused (or ignorant?) on enforcing laws from a criminal aspect to enforcing civil peace which has little to do with the rule of law.
  15. Might better be labeled the 'National Anti-Corruption Corrupt Commission.' Historically in my opinion as a cover agency for the "Good People" who get caught.
  16. Of course. I am comparing former process to current proposals to show how much the weakness in new proposals. It is worse than when it was bad.
  17. Yes, and that's the disparity in the police and judicial system - inability to corrupt them!
  18. It seems like Thailand has a "give and take" foreign fund policy: you give and I take. Rarely do you see (any?) Thailand exporting investment funds to other nations to aid in developing import businesses for Thai products and materials.
  19. May qualify for the 10-year Long Term Resident visa costing 50,000 baht to avoid taxation.
  20. Thailand has been on a dedollarization "warpath," preferring BRIC currencies to other international currencies, many of which are tied to the USD. Japanese yen is not a BRIC currency. But if Thailand wants Japanese investments, it will be baht for yen.
  21. Understandable that the former military coup leader doesn't respect the majority electorate. His coup written 2017 constitution passed referendum with less than a majority of registered voters. As much as I object to an unelected Senate, I agree as a minimum "that at least half of all eligible voters participate in a referendum and that the winning option secure support from at least half of those voters." Frankly, it should be 75% of eligible voters and passage with 50%. The constitution is not some student term paper. Thailand as a Constitutional Monarchy must consider the approval of the majority electorate for whom the sovereignty of the nation resides.
  22. Irrespective of the civil issues regarding what damage and compensation should be made, the rule of law must be applied to determine violation of law. That should be the role of the police, not any civil negotiations. Police should not be collecting "settlement" payments for damage. Police are not civil agents, they are law and order agents.
  23. This is not a civil matter but a criminal matter. Regardless of the intentions of survivors, the law must be applied to bring justice for the victim. In this case perhaps manslaughter. It is the duty of the police to investigate and determine if laws apply and prosecute the person allegedly responsible for the death.
  24. If he intends to live in Thailand as a resident, maybe consider qualification for the 10-year Long Term Resident visa. Annual notifications, extension of stay at 5 years, no bank deposits or foreign transfers required. Cost 50,000 baht.
  25. I also wave my hands towards any oncoming vehicles in both directions like a "hello see me." The idea is people in cars and motor bikes may be focused looking further beyond the crosswalk or memorized by heavy or fast traffic that they don't mentally "see" the occupied cross walk.
