1 or 2 thousand baht.
Time frame depends if you are registered with paperless customs in advance. If you are you should have the piano within about 1 week. The agent will also be able to source transport from port to your home (or liaise with the piano mover if you employ your own specialist movers).
Without an agent? Honestly, don't even go there. I've imported items for work ranging from one small box worth hundreds of thousands of baht, single pallets of goods to an entire 40 foot container. I wouldn't dream of doing it without an agent. It's just not worth my time, the stress factor or the cost of visiting the customs office in person.
In addition, if you do it yourself you will be paying bonded storage fees for every day that you take to clear the goods over your free time. If the agent is quicker they will save you money.

Shipping would be handled by the sender in the US. What you need is a Thai customs agent who (if necessary) can get you registered with paperless Customs in advance to reduce the amount of time it takes to clear the goods once they are landed.

All communications devices require a type license from the NBTC in Thailand. This license is normally applied for by the manufacturer/importer/wholesaler. The unit must conform to the Thai radio spectrum in terms of what frequencies it can transmit on and the power it uses to transmit before a license is granted.
Once the type license is granted the units are legal for sale in Thailand. However, after purchase the owner must then apply to the NBTC for a license to possess and operate the unit. This license to possess and operate the unit is what Customs want to see.
You can not apply to possess a unit that does not have a type license.
The next thing to do is contact the NBTC to check if the unit has a type license. If it does you can apply to possess the unit. From memory the cost of a license to possess is about 500 baht and takes 2-4 weeks to be granted.
If the unit doesn't have a type license then see if you can cut your losses and return it.
If the unit does have a type license but is inexpensive then also think about cutting your losses and returning it because the daily storage fees might end up more than the unit is worth. It depends on how quickly you can deal with the NBTC.

...is this usually strictly applied?
Very strictly. Do not be surprised if Customs require sight of your original passport aswell.

2 children in a top tier international school in Bangkok would help towards that significantly.

Most embassies do not cover medical bills.
Each hospital will have its own procedures for unclaimed bodies.

Normally, whoever claims the body will have to settle the hospital bill before the body is released.

Does anyone have suggestions about how to fly to the UK from Thailand
a. Without transiting through a UK red list country,
b. At low cost (which rules out direct flights)
c. Without having to quarantine in any transit country
Your input would be appreciated.

I received mine back a couple of days ago. It took 6 weeks.
Normally it is much quicker than that.

I would need this person to go to the amphur with me?
You need the house master to go with you. A juristic person cannot be a house master. It may be that there is no house master, in which case it will have to be the owner. If the owner is a juristic person it will have to be one of the directors, although some District Offices will allow the director to send someone in their place with a letter of authority.

Because it does nothing for the landlord and can create severe problems. I was involved with a property where a Bangkok District Office refused to issue a new blue house book to the owner of the property because the house master wasn't present to authorise it.
The house master was the previous owner, who had lost the blue book prior to the property being sold to the new owner. After the sale the previous owner went to live in a forest temple and could not attend the District Office in Bangkok.
For the new owner to get a new blue book it took several months and a formal investigation by the District Office. Both the previous owner and the new owner were Thai.
People hear about situations like this and they do not want to put themselves at risk when there is nothing in it to benefit them.

So, is it really as simple as finding a new landlord that is willing to go down to the amphur with me with just their blue house book and Thai ID card?
Yes.
2 hours ago, Chris4466 said:How would they look me up on the system if I'm supposed to have surrendered the yellow house book and pink ID?
The easiest way would be if you had a picture or copy of your previous yellow book or pink ID card or if you know your non-Thai ID number.
If you don't have any of that they could check your previous address, but that is going to be quite slow and painful to do, so best advice is to try and help yourself as much as possible.

No. This process is to obtain your Non-Thai ID number. Now you have that, it can be changed between yellow books in a few minutes.

The thing with using your work permit as the basis of income is that you will have to fulfill many of the same criteria needed to obtain a Non B extension.
The Non B criteria for businesspeople is incredibly onerous and exacting, to the point of absurdity. There is zero allowance given for imperfect applications under any circumstances.

Now is probably not the correct time to discuss this with your new employers.
If your contract is terminated after 119 days but before 6 months and you are not paid the correct severance then go to the Labour Protection Department who will treat you fairly according to the law.
It doesn't matter that you signed the contract, as no contract can supercede statute law, even if both parties are willing.
