My visa, when Immigration transferred my stamps from an old to a new passport last month, seems to have converted from OA to a new class - RE
My visa transfer to a new passport has a stamp for the initial visa and subsequent extensions added... So a complete history is shown..

Could well be... But right now, the new police order only pertains to O-A visas, not O visas, and perhaps extensions of stay stemming from O-A visas...
Right now, O visas aren't in play at all.
New police orders and ministry rules seem to change every six months...

There's nothing in the new insurance policy relating to O visas... only O-A visas and perhaps the extensions flowing from them...
Unless you meant O-As, and were shorthanding it by saying Os.
I meant Non O... My bet is that they will eventually no longer issue a visa from any embassy or consul for the purposes of retirement without proof of insurance!... Then weed out the extension holders by attrition... which they can facilitate...

My bet is they will allow extensions for Non O without insurance but will require proof of insurance if anyone goes to a nearby consul to get a new Non O visa for purposes of retirement... Present Non O holders are grandfathered but one visa renewal failure (which they can selectively facilitate) and there is no way to get a new visa to start over without insurance... Thais save face by not being seen as taking away visa only not issuing new ones... Similar to how they fazed out the Condo visas...

Pacific Cross is 70K for the 70 to 75 year age group, Viriyah charges 94k for the same group. It's not until age 76 that rates go into six digits, after which they climb pretty quickly. BUT perhaps another way to look at this is, 70K baht is only 1,850 Pounds per year, not a princely sum for a years health insurance.
This assumes the coverage is acceptable to immigration (400k/40k)... Assumes they will underwrite a 70+ individuals...And assumes the 70+ individuals have no preexisting conditions...

Sfokevin,
Now that is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. If Congress had the right to decide what Trump's crime was they would say it was being born. If you recall it was the FBI not Congress that gave Hillary a pass on her destruction of evidence even though the emails and devices were part of a congressional Subpoena. The Justice Department not Congress is the one to make the determination if there is probably evidence that a crime has been committed and if it is determined that there was to initiated prosecution. Congress can only "impeach" They are accusing Trump of an "abuse" of power even though the Democrats in Congress were far far far more explicit in their extortion of Ukraine to investigate Trump. This is a totally fabricated charge designed only to keep it in the News Media.
Give it up on Hillary conspiracy theories... We have moved on...
Curious did the Clinton Justice Department march over to Newt Gingrich and the Republicans and tell them they needed to impeach Clinton for lying about a BJ in the oval office?...

It is you who needs to learn how to read. If it was a crime, then the Justice Department would investigate it. If it is not "a crime" then then there is no "high crimes or misdemeanor" required to impeach.
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/justice-dept-found-trump-didnt-commit-a-campaign-finance-crime-raised-by-whistleblowerThe problem with your logic is two fold... One The Congress gets to decide what a crime is not the Justice Dept... The reason being is that the Justice Department can be be headed by a person involved in the crime and just be a crony of the President (Like in Watergate... You should study history - Especially the part where Nixon's Attourney General was sentenced to 8 years in prison for doing exactly what you are advocating...

What kind of stamp do they put in your passport?... A scarlet letter?... What would be the future ramifications of this stamp?

Embassies and consulate are still issuing non-o visas for being 50 or over for retirement do not require insurance since it only applies to NON-OA and NON-OX visa
10 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:My bet this will be their strategy... Stop issuing any new visas of any kind without insurance... Then slowly weed out the existing visa holders by making extensions problematic..
Why would you think that?
So you think this Insurance requirement is only going to apply to a small portion on the “risky foreigners”?... You do not think their long term goal is to make all long stay visitors have insurance?

I had diner at a neighbors a while back... She made French Fries in an Air Fryer she brought from the US... She lamented that she was on her second converter from Global house as they cost over 5,000 baht... When I asked her why she didn’t just buy a Air Fryer from Central For a couple thousand baht she had a blank stare and her husband a slight grin...

Are neighboring country Thai embassies still issuing Non-O 90 day visas for purposes of retirement without proof of health insurance?
My bet this will be their strategy... Stop issuing any new visas of any kind without insurance... Then slowly weed out the existing visa holders by making extensions problematic...

If this is the case, then it would have been caused by my builder... now trying to get him to pay, that's another story.
I wouldn’t blame the builder...
You set him to task renovating an old building...

Has your renovation efforts caused a lot of vibration of the structure?... Then you may have caused stress cracks in the concrete around the pipes that caused the leak...
If you can communicate with the builder & neighbor I would make them a deal... The builder will open up their ceiling and find the leak... But if their is rust or aged water damage around where the leak is discovered the neighbor will pay instead of you...

Retirees and medical insurance

Agreed but the point I was making is that my original (Non O) is there and has not been “converted” to anything... A new passport will not clear your initial visa type/history...
