Yes cars can make it there... That being said it it a one lane road... you need to go slow and watch for oncoming trucks and cars

The Cherry Blossom Trees are blooming right now at the top of Doi Pui. We spent the day and rode our motorscooter up to the top of Doi Pui for a wonderfully colorful display!... The best area is along the road just after the Doi Pui campground and at the small shack/coffee house at the CMU Coffee Project (From the coffee house walk along the trail thru the coffee plants - they were picking the coffee beans today!)… We ended up at the coffee house for a killer cup of coffee (If you don’t want a coffee buzz ask her for Ovaltine)… The blossoms should be blooming for another week. The road is narrow and a bit gnarly the last 2KM but totally doable on a scooter or car… You can also get a songtaw at the Royal Palace…
Here is a link to the Coffee House:

If you can get that rubber band off the takeaway food without resorting to using a knife you are a true expatriate...

Yeah, I've known old expats who live on 35 baht street food. Under-nourished, deficient in calcium, protein and B vitamins and overloaded in sodium. These are the guys who trip on a hole in the sidewalk, fall and break their hip.
Too many trips to Duke's will kill you just as fast...
Luckily it is usually a stroke of blood clot... you rarely make it to the hospital thereby saving you 3-5 million baht...

Penang is not really a fun weekend...
Vientiane is a much better trip and a tourist visa is easy too

I usually just ask in a firm voice Katoort khun mi Q mai?... if no one no one says katoort back I walk away...

Since you are wanting to do the tourist thing I would recommend staying inside the moat area... if your into partying/drinking stay in the night bazzaar/Loy Kroh road area...
My pick would be Sabaidee Hotel inside the moat... it is on a nice quiet street and Sam the guy how owns this is great at setting up day trips and such... he can have scooters delivered too...
Go to their website and the prices are lower than it you book on Booking.com/Agoda
Oh and upgrade to the balcony room for an extra 100 baht ;-)

You spent 300K on making improvements on someone else's house !,
just because she says you can live there forever,i hope you have a lease
that covers that, you are the kind of tenant that every landlord dreams of.
regards worgeordie
I have a 5 year lease (registered) much below what others are paying in my mubaan ... and in a worse case scenario I could remove about half my investment and move to another house... in the end I got the house I like and that is all that matters..,
-
I went the renting route... I found a nice older house in a exclusive mubaan it needed a lot of work but the rent is 15k baht a month... the Thai lady who owns it lives in Bangkok and is happy for me to stay forever!... I spent about 300k redoing it... painted everything, new tile in kitchen and baths... and am now installing a koy pond deck... this house in the US would cost $250k USD...

Has anyone tried Hollywood HD?... they are in Thai so my partner could watch... my question is do they have Thai subtitles or speak Thai?... I would like it to have both so we could both watch?... also I could not add the App to my IPad as it said the app was not available in my country?

what would you know about an indoor pool?
...
What would you know about living comfortably on 35,000 a month...
-
One has to forgive Naam's jaded comment...
Lifes choices has led him to the point he has to spend more than 35,000 baht a month on electricity just to maintain a comfortably cool tempreture for his indoor pool...

Since you just moved in you do not know what the usage was for the previous 22 days before you moved in was?... the bill is for a 30 day period... maybe the condo owner left the lights or AC on when showing the unit... I would wait for a full month billing when you are in the condo to give a real idea of your usage...

Check out your local Wat or munaan office... they might offer a day where you can bring the animals in for free neutering

Be thankful for the rain...
It is the only thing stopping the farmers from setting fire to their fields...

As questioned above it really hinges on how you define comfortably...
Have your friend check out the YouTube videos by retirecheapjc - he covers this issue pretty good...

The following is a great story about finding what you seek.
A traveler came upon an old farmer hoeing in his field beside the road. Eager to rest his feet, the wanderer hailed the countryman, who seemed happy enough to straighten his back and talk for a moment.
“What sort of people live in the next town?” asked the stranger.
“What were the people like where you’ve come from?” replied the farmer, answering the question with another question.
“They were a bad lot. Troublemakers all, and lazy too. The most selfish people in the world, and not a one of them to be trusted. I’m happy to be leaving the scoundrels.”
“Is that so?” replied the old farmer. “Well, I’m afraid that you’ll find the same sort in the next town.
Disappointed, the traveler trudged on his way, and the farmer returned to his work.
Some time later another stranger, coming from the same direction, hailed the farmer, and they stopped to talk. “What sort of people live in the next town?” he asked.
“What were the people like where you’ve come from?” replied the farmer once again.
“They were the best people in the world. Hard working, honest, and friendly. I’m sorry to be leaving them.”
“Fear not,” said the farmer. “You’ll find the same sort in the next town.” -
^^^ A couple pointers about Mon Cham... 1. Do not go on a weekend it is very narrow road and as said popular with the Thais... 2. Avoid the traffic on the road to Mae Sa... from Mae Rim take a small road a little further north and skirt up to Mon Cham the back way... best way to describe the way further is to give you the following link to a wonderful waterfall on the road I describe... check it out on the way!
