  1. similar to the US made deck, was thinking to make a new deck with most wanted persons.

The list should contain people harmfull to other people, their country or to the whole world.

have a few names: GWB for the invasion based on lies, TB for the same reason, Howard, Rice,Toxin,....

  2. Virtually every one of the channels you listed above is rebroadcast on UBC (okay, not Disney, but.....). So if those are your highlights, what's the purpose of putting in a satellite installation with all the costs and hassle that involves?

the advantages are: more channels and if you have C & Ku band, you can watch C band during rain. UBC with dish has only Ku band so during rain... no signal unless you are lucky to have cable.

Other advantage: in about 1 year the investment is paid, I already paid over 100,000 baht during the years for UBC, no more for me.

I am glad I dont have to watch the message"searching for signal" and than waiting for the thousands of ubc staff to jump in their vehicle to find their signal in the rain, can take a long time due to traffic :o

  3. have F1 box with 8ft dish, around 40 satelites, over 1000 channels, good quality. Jsat has done a good service with reprogramming my reciever free of charge.

A 1000 channels is all very well, but are any of them worth watching??

Any good English film, series or comedy channels?

visit jsat website, you can see tha available satelites and their respective channels, there are the news channels such as fox,bbc,cnn,...

kids channels: disney, cartoon network, around 5 in total

movies:hbo, cinemax, star movies, star world,hallmark,axn,tcm,...

    sports: several, even real madrid

discovery, discovery travel, living asia, cnbc...do you need more

even frencs, german, italian, spain and dutch channels, ..choice too much and yes worth wathing

  4. Nice photo's Mike , thanks for sharing .

Ditto--looks like you enjoyed your visit to my future back yard! :o

My future backyard as well, bought a house near the main road from Pakchong to khai yai entrance.

Maybe we can have a beer when we settled in

  5. UFO SIGHTED IN KATHU, PHUKET

KATHU: -- A UFO was reportedly sighted last night taken off from Patong Hill. At 3am Kathu locals claim that a metallic silver spaceship that looked similar to a Honda Jazz speeded off the Patong Hill road and headed off into the sky.

These accusations were later called into question when a crate of empty Chang bottles was found near the scene. However determined locals led the Patong Times to a house where they claimed an alien had taken refuge. Upon further investigation we found that the person in question was actually Belgian, which is halfway there.

Well, belgians just like all farangs are aliens, should explain it

  6. used to download through limeware and bearshare until my computer got blocked and had to format it.

Does limeware not come with spyware and are there any dangers from it such as virus...

How to protect your computer if you use limeware or is it completely safe?

I doubt you would find a better school than St Stephens in the area, just a bit out of our price range unfortunately.

Living in Chok Chai (about 30km south of Korat) at the moment but will be moving into Korat soon.

I would rather live in Pak Chong but I cant convince my wife (too far away from mum).

    Cheers

    CCC

    Hi again,

Whats the price at St.`Stephens? I thought it would be too expensive for me as well, reason to look further. My wifes mother lives in Samut Prakarn, we will move to Khao Yai next year, but hey, we have a car so my wife can visit het mother and there are always busses and trains, I love khao Yai area becuase the mountain views, tranquility, dont want to live near a city with all the traffic and bad smells, heat from exhausts/factories, we want the clean air and easy peace of life.

    cheers, rono

  8. Thanks for the info CCC, will remember it next time I go there, anyway dont like big C too much cause they dont have the cheese and meat i get in lotus or tops.

Noticed your posting re schools, topic I am also close following for my 11 year daughter.

    cheers, rono

  9. was also looking for a good school near pak chong, khao yai. Have passed St Stephens a few times and even downloaded their intro movie. Still looking for some other schools as well, plan to move next year so have time. BTW CCC, you live in the area?

  10. This is typically pure, and poor, speculative journalism by the Pattaya Mail. All I can say is don't hold your breath on this. Yes, the new Immigration Office is on Soi 5 in Jomtien and not on Beach Road. The article doesn't even mention Jomtien.

I'm very sceptical about this. How do we show a doctor's certificate, bank letter, bank passbook, Embassy letter, photographs etc. etc. over the Internet? :o

How about a scanner, webcam, maybe skype?

  11. My apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum, but I am having difficulties "slotting" this subject in.

However, I am presently having some items manufactured in Chonburi but I need some sand blasting done prior to the final paint. I would expect that ship builders/yards in the Pattaya area could do this but was looking for something a little nearer Chonburi itself.

    All suggestions welcomed

Hi, I am in paint business, please contact me, maybe i can help you out.

  12. In Mua Klek you can get the Kraft brand cheese, butter, milk and a few misc foreign things (vanilla extract, pancake mix etc). There is a seven-eleven type store (not actually 7-11) on the main street near th entrance to the market heading towards the train station that seems to have the most.

BTW, any recommendations on the various western style restaurants? I especially wonder about the italian (supposedly) places I've seen on the road into Khao Yai.

thanks cheryl, will visit the department stores in saraburi or korat once a month. I stayed in a resort 2 km from the entrance to kao yai and their steaks were good.

regarding Italian restaurants: available in most department stores but I only will eat there if my daughter insists to go in. I prefer the real italian restaurants where the food is cooked by an italian, there you can get a pizza half the price of those in the chain stores and much much better.

  13. thanks for the confirmation regarding department stores, at present i live about 30 minutes for the nearest department stores, not becuase distance but traffic jam in rangsit area.

I go monthly and buy large qty of cheese, salami, ham, bacon, bologna, you know the stuff north europeans tend to eat with bread. I ask the lady to pack each in packs of 100 or 200 grams, a few packs i put in the fridge, the rest goes in the freezer so expiry date is not important anymore. When a pack is empty i simply take one of the freezer. The meat remains quite fresh but you have to use it within a week or so once you have defrosted it.

guess I will do the same when i live in pak chong, fater all, saraburi is only 60 km, with some luck it will take me the same time as now.

  14. Hi spaniel,

thanks for the info, i actually went in this cowboy shop last year and passed it again on new years day.

there are lots of restaurants serving western food in pak chong-kao yai area but i was eager to find out if there were any convenient shops, mini marts, department stores in this area selling cheese, ham, bacon, salami and so becuase as far as i know the nearest department stores are in saraburi or korat

  15. Hi,

Have seen this building last year and went in the cowboy shop. New years eve we spent in Cowboy City resort where there was a 5 day cowboy & Indian festival, just 2 km from the kao Yai entrance.

We loved the place, peace of living and mountain area so much we instantly bought a house nearby for our retirement.

We dont want to get bored so we plan to open some eatery, perhaps combined with cowboy shop, something like you've seen in pak chong..

  16. Hi lopburi3,

Living in Los since 93 I have learned that if you really like or want something you have to buy it on the spot, otherwise someone else will be faster, of course I discussed the pros and cons for a few days with my thai wife and daughter. The last day we made our decision.

Actually, we were thinking for several years were we would spend our retirement days and what we could do, mostly our thoughts went to beach or mountain areas.

I always like the mountain, forests, nature and the cowboy style, we both will be not too old and want to do something such as opening a cowboy shop combined with a burger or coffee house, just to have something to do and to make some extra income.

  17. We spent 4 days in pak chong, 2 km from the kao yai entrance last weekend.

During our 4 day stay we fell in love with the place and decided to look for some property for our retirement days so we bought a bungalow.

Are there any stores in pak chong area selling western food like cheese, salami and so?

I guess the nearest department stores such as Big C, lotus are in saraburi and korat.

Any farangs in pak chong area?

  18. had to endure these problems for many years until I discovered that you can watch all the "ubc" channels on the satelite for free.

My advise: buy a satelite and cancel your subscription

  19. I also bought a sat last month, when i asked my supplier to upgrade he promised me to send me a computer cable so i could do the upgrade by myself.

The cable never arrived while at the same time Jsat announced in this forum a free upgrade even for non Jsat customers.

many thanks to Jsat for their free upgrade, have more satelites and more channels per satelite, job well done in just 20 minutes.

  20. Hi,

used to buy cheap stereo's but they never last long, I now have a pioneer dvd home theater for 3 years 80 rms output on each of the 5 speakers, not a single problem yet. recently i got a samsung dvd home theatre free when i bought my new tv, 100 watt rms at each of the 5 speakers, brilliant sound of both dvd players.

my conclusion: buy a more expensive quality brand.
