  2. my windows media player appears to open outside my screen, how to solve this problem?

    rono

Any chance you have a video card with dual monitor support, either two vga/dvi ports or a vga and a composite video output (TV)? If so, disable the secondary monitor using video settings or the software that came with the card - it may be popping up on that.

thanks for the info, have a laptop with xp running, wmp was doing well until last week. When I open it I don't see it popping up, when I right click on wmp in the task bar on minimise I see something coming from the right side of the screen. I did have a virus warning from avast at that time so I thought maybe this has something to do with it.

I already installed real player but don't like it that much.

  3. Hello,

I am thinking of driving from Bangkok to Khao Yai for a weekend holiday. Does anyone know which route to take and what interesting things to do or see in Khao Yai?

    Thanks.

    Tengkorak

Hi, the easiest road is to take Pahon Yothin road to saraburi, follow the sign Nakhon Ratchasima.

You will pass Farm Chockchai, a few kilometer further there will be a sign: Pakchong-Khao Yai, take this exit, while on the exit follow "Khao Yai" and you will be at the park entrance after another 23 kilometer.

If you need a place to stay, pm me, I have a guesthouse a few kilometer before the park entrance.

    cheers, rono

  4. I think there is no general best age to retire, it's all up to each individual. I am 50, my TW is 37 and we have a 12 years old kid. I loved to run my business but now see that I don't love it as I used to, still love to do the field work but hate all the paper work involved.

Nowadays, I mostly spend 1-2 hours per day running the company so I have time for other things.

I have been thinking about retirement but seen the time I spend to run the company I may say I am now semi retired. The main problem I have is my wife is getting tired of doing nothing, she wants to do some business.

We just bought a guesthouse 150 km from Bangkok and will move in this week. It has the right size, there are some busy moments but there is time to sit down and enjoy a chat and a drink with the guests and the family.

I have arranged my business in such a way that with a phone line and internet I can do all the work for my business from wherever I am.

This will be my retirement, 1-2 hours per day running my company for the next 5-10 years and spend the rest of the day running the guesthouse with my wife

  6. you really should do some research on this forum about 'dream-agila-satellite-ubc".

UBC signal is indeed scrambled but you can get hbo-cinemax-espn and all the other so called "ubc" channels on agila Ku satellite, with a dish and receiver you can get dozens of satellites and hundreds of channels without a card.

If you want astro or the real ubc you will need a card but you don't need the card for "dream fillippine".

Speaking of the real UBC: you can get it without card through internet combined with your own dish and receiver, with thai subtitles. You buy the dish + receiver + modem and you pay a yearly fee of 3,000 baht.

check with the local satellite equipment shops like ufo-jsat-satthai...

  7. alternatives to UBC:

1.satellite dish with C & Ku band: cost between 20-30K, you will be able to receive most channels as UBC.

No monthly payments, there have been many postings about this already

2.satellite dish with internet: much cheaper (less than 10K) but you need internet connections, all the UBC channels on this one with thai subtitles, yearly fee of around 3000 baht.

Do a search on this forum about satellites and you will get all the info you need

  8. some department store shops have a screenprint machine, have seen it in Zeer Rangsit a while ago and if I am not wrong Future Park Rangsit also.

Otherwise, you can find some t-shirt manufacturers in Bangkok specialized in silkscreen printed t-shirts. Ask them if they want to do 100-20 shirts with your logo.

    Google for Rock Eagle

  9. Bob, I didn't take any risk with paypal when giving the info they wanted, thought a small mistake or something could be a reason not to get the verified account.

I used the same address as my kbank account, in case paypal checks it out they will find everything to be correct:

number, moo, subdisctrict, disctrict, province, post code, country:thailand

if you dont have a moo I guess no need to fill in

I thought I needed to get verified to be a buyer and seller, looks better for business also. The 73 baht is a small price to pay and you get it back.

  10. When i checked my kbank online I noticed they deducted 78baht from my savings account. This amount being the usd. 1.90 or 1.95 (forgot it). Theonline statement also showed "paypal" and that it was for my expansion number, this number also showed up on the statement and had to be used to get verified. I am now verified thai.

Kbank also sent me an email saying they deducted 78 baht from my account, what a service.

I dont have foreign account so no experience about this, just my simple kbank account. paypal says thay will pay back this 78 baht when i make transactions. They may be a pain in the ass and they may suck but I need paypal for my online business.

  11. From my experience, kbank is the way to go, I will repeat procedure: open account and fill in cyberbanking form at any branch, just need to give a copy of pasport and valid email address.

After receiving email from kbank you following insctructions and apply online for webcard (this is a virtual debit card). Again you will receive email from kbank with your 16digit card number and ccv number. Go to paypal, add kbank to your account, they will deduct usd 1.9, check you kbank statement and you will see you paypal number, fill in paypal account with this number and you will become verified.

It took kbank 3-4 working days from opening account to getting my webcard, fantastic. It took paypal 2 working days to get verified. I now have set up my ebay store without any problems.

    I don't have shares with kbank :o

  12. I recently opened an account with Kbank, just giving them a copy of my pasport. I signed a document requesting cyberbanking and gave my email address. The day after I got a message from Kbank to change my pasword and at the same time I applied for webcard.

Again the day after I got my webcard and got accepted by paypal. I was amazed it was so fast and easy.

Bangkok bank has a lousy service, my TW and I canceled our account with them years ago. I wonder why people still want this bank.

  13. research on this topic didn't give more info than I already had, the local post office couldn't help me out, all they had was go to www.....

WWW...only shows the ems rates, I am looking for a list of domestic rates and international rates like the registered airmail, the cheap rates, google wan't of much help eather.
