Are you an existing SCB banking customer? If so, SCB Planet Card. https://www.scb.co.th/en/personal-banking/cards/prepaid-cards/planet-scb-card.html Easy to get, apply in the SCB mobile app, received in the mail. Manage from the SCB app. I keep 2,500 down to 1,000 on mine. It supports tap & go. TrueMoney Wallet with their virtual Mastercard can be back-stopped (pre-loaded via a transfer from a bank account) as well, but this one is harder (administratively) to get. You may be able to get a secured credit card from your bank, requires a separate account with a minimum of 20,000 baht which cannot be used, you pay your bill from another savings acount. So 20,000 potential exposure. Not all of these options offer 100% coverage for any potential charge, especially for things like Grab and LINE.

The "data" business, and the "generating of cannabis articles" business are probably the most profitable segments of the cannabis business today. Smart move.

You mean a sham election leading to a coup? Well I wouldn't dismiss that possibility, but I was merely contrasting the two options on the table today. Better to arrange an outcome, which results in a conservative government (PPRP/UTN/BJT), but with an outsider (non military, affiliated or non-affiliated) as PM, than to stage a coup now. I think you're saying that in this scenario the disaffected voters (PTP/MFP) would protest, leading to the requirement for a self-coup (this has happened before here, the self-coup part I mean). Maybe, but I think they'll roll over after the first spritzing from the water canons.

Scoop: Tucker Carlson ready to torch Fox News
bamnutsak replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
Agree with you, she looks like she would be a good fit at Fox to replace Clarson. Not sure the demo will accept her though. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kayleigh_McEnany McEnany has been closely associated with the Republican Party since she was in college. She was critical of the Obama presidency, and in 2012 posted several tweets questioning Barack Obama's birthplace, echoing the "birther" conspiracy theorist movement.[18] In 2012, McEnany tweeted about Obama's half-brother Malik Obama, who lives in Kenya: "How I Met Your Brother – Never mind, forgot he's still in that hut in Kenya".[3] In 2017, she responded to claims it was hypocritical of Trump to visit his golf course while president by mistakenly claiming that Obama rushed off to a golf game after the 2002 beheading of Daniel Pearl. Obama was a state senator at the time of Pearl's murder. McEnany later apologized for the comment, noting that Obama went golfing after the 2014 murder of another journalist, James Foley, who was beheaded by ISIS in Syria. Obama, who was vacationing on Martha's Vineyard at the time, admitted that he should have "anticipated the optics" of golfing immediately after making a press statement on Foley's death.[19][20] On August 7, 2017, the Republican National Committee (RNC) appointed McEnany as its national spokesperson.[21][22] In 2017, as RNC spokeswoman, McEnany supported Trump amid a bipartisan backlash in response to his comments about a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which he suggested that white supremacists and anti-racist counterprotesters shared blame for violence; in a tweet, McEnany wrote that the Republican Party supported Trump's "message of love and inclusiveness."[23] -
The current regime has been giving away BILLIONS for the last eight years, in the form of welfare, income assistance, debt restructuring, agricultural subsidies, fuel subsidies, electricity subsidies. And the current regime is quick to point out all of these giveaways. Get a grip. 22 million people applied for the current round, and at least 14.5 m were approved. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40025272 The real issue, such as it is, is the potential return of Thaksin. The spectre of him setting foot on Thai soil is enough to drive the PtB to massage the election in any way possible. Another coup is the very, very, very last option. A sham election is better than another coup.

Thailand’s cannabis sellers say US growers are eating their lunch
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Via air freight, at Suvaranbhumi, in 5 and 10 Kg shipments, labeled as "Christmas Decorations". One such delivery was made public, and referenced others. The VIP/HiSo person involved said he wasn't doing anything illegal because if he were he'd use a fake name. Thais or their partners are buying legal wholesale cannabis in the U.S. and Canada, then shipping it to Thailand. How do you think the thousands of other illegal items, from cannabis concentrates to eCig to sex toys "arrive" here? By magic? -

Hmm. I wonder if he will simply be deported rather than being prosecuted for what appears to be several serious violations of the law? -
The bad actors in Thailand’s cannabis industry
bamnutsak replied to george's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
Results of this meeting.... AFAIK it remains illegal to import cannabis into Thailand. There may be an exemption for small amounts for medical research with the appropriate license. Some here claim they've seen import licenses but they claim privacy concerns when pressed for details. The U.S. (illegal imports are likely coming from Canada as well) seems to be bearing the brunt of the attention on this subject. Local diplos will probably have to address this issue in private, or in public, if only to accept a written grievance. There are some questionable assertions, and a whole host of issues are conflated: imported cannabis, foreign ownership, illegal delivery services (US->THL). I also believe that marketing/selling/fulfilling cannabis on line is illegal. I think this was codified ~ 12 Nov 2022 by the MoPH when the Cannabis Control Act stalled in Parliament. https://www.facebook.com/chokwankittychopaka Meeting minutes with the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine. Agenda: Management strategies for the illegal import of cannabis, which has an impact on entrepreneurs and growers in the country. Chair of the meeting: Dr. Thewin Thanirattanakorn, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Key Issues: From the Public: - 70-80% of the cannabis sold in tourist areas is illegally imported. - Foreigners from China, Russia, America, and Europe can be seen selling illegally smuggled cannabis flowers and extracts. - Many cannabis shops/farms use nominees to conceal foreign ownership and some also import cannabis illegally. - Foreigners working as salespeople or growers for cannabis shops and farms. - Imported cannabis through licensed farm got converted to Thai cannabis. - More police officers are becoming involved in the cannabis business and are not enforcing the law that affects their benefits. - Online advertising to promote illegal delivery services of cannabis from America to Thailand can be seen allover social media. - Lack of a central agency to take reports and complaints of bad actors. - Need for clear legal regulations. - Corruption in the permit application process and in extortion for protection money from shops, etc. (old problems still remain) Deputy Director: - Acknowledged that there are illicit imports of cannabis from foreign countries and there are Nominee businesses. - The act of importing cannabis is still illegal under the Plant Quarantine Act B.E. 2507, Section 2, as it is a prohibited item to enter the kingdom without passing through the plant inspection checkpoint. The importer is in violation of Articles 8 and 10 of the Act, and is subject to penalties as prescribed in Section 21 of the Narcotics Act, namely imprisonment of up to one year, a fine of up to 20,000 baht, or both. - Currently, there are education efforts being carried out in various sectors, along with plans to implement stricter control systems. - As of May 3, 2023, there are a total of 8,879 controlled herb (cannabis) sales licenses nationwide (1,809 in Bangkok). - We want entrepreneurs who have been licensed to comply with the regulations and submit Forms Type 27 and Type 28 seriously, as the department will start suspending or revoking licenses for those who fail to submit the forms twice in a row, following the promotional period. - Currently, the department has started inspecting shops throughout the country and has suspended the licenses of some shops or ordered them to close down. - The occupation of "selling" is actually reserved exclusively for Thais and is not allowed for foreigners according to the Alien Workers Management Act of 2017. Violators can be fined from 5,000 to 50,000 baht and deported and blacklisted, and employers who hire foreign workers without work permits or allow them to work outside their authorized scope can be fined from 10,000 to 100,000 baht per worker. Repeat offenders may face imprisonment for up to 1 year or fines from 50,000 to 200,000 baht, and are prohibited from hiring foreign workers for 3 years. Anyone who witnesses such violations can report to the police or immigration officers for legal action. The summary of today's meeting is that both parties will proceed with the recommendations made by the other party and prepare for the enforcement of the regulations. -
So it's back to the Incompetency-based curriculum. The absolute last thing Thai society, and the regime which oversees Thailand, wants is an educated population. I'm amazed they teach them to read and write.

Italian Man Has a Meltdown on His Balcony in Pattaya, Blames Marijuana
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Crystal methamphetamine, and Ketamine, seem to be on the upswing here, based on the large busts of these drugs recently. These are hundreds of Kilograms being siezed. Just today police siezed 650 Kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in Saraburi. Twelve were arrested, they said they had made three previously successful runs. I suspect most of this is transhipping from Myanmar through Thailand and then on to far away shores. Australia seems like a popular destination, based on past busts at outbound ports here. But a lot falls off the truck, and gets smoked here. I don't believe anyone is "lacing" cannabis with meth (yaba/pills, or Ice). There would no reason to do such a thing. We should probably prepare for more refrigerator tossing. -
Thailand’s cannabis sellers say US growers are eating their lunch
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
From the linked story... “A decent locally grown strain goes for 300 baht [$9] per gram but imports are only 150-180 baht [$4.50-5.30] per gram,” Prajya Aura-ek, a cannabis entrepreneur with several licensed dispensaries in Bangkok, told Al Jazeera. I don't this this one single source for this factoid is accurate or worthy of publication. “Each day we have brokers, both Thais and other nationalities — this is definitely a multinational business — coming into our shops trying to sell us imported weed. But we turn them all down.” Call the Police. -
Some fundamentalist White Christian legislators in Florida and elsewhere are already talking up banning contraception/birth control. DeSantis is already cutting State funding for contraception. For the second time in two years, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) has vetoed millions of dollars in funding that would have gone toward making birth control accessible to low-income Floridians. DeSantis vetoed a total of $3 billion out of the $110 billion budget that the state legislature sent him last month. Of the $3 billion he slashed, $2 million would have provided individuals with low incomes the opportunity to obtain long-acting, reversible forms of contraception, including intrauterine devices (IUDs), which are effective for up to 10 years, and Depo-Provera injections, which last for around three months, among others. https://truthout.org/articles/weeks-before-abortion-ban-desantis-vetoes-millions-in-birth-control-funding/ Soon the Florida Man will be involved in every aspect of Floridians' lives. I'm certain he'll weigh in on acceptable practices in the privacy of one's home.

Sucks when you sign an NDA. And a non-compete. I think both sides are in a MAD situation (FOX has the stronger position as they have more juicy dirt on Carlson than he has on them), so this will be resolved with a settlement where he gets paid over time, and he can't compete for some epriod of time, 18 - 24 months would be my guess. I think this story is just Mr. Freedman flexing for his client. -

Following the HMA "Cocotte" strategy? https://www.hmgtasia.net/ -
I think this is just in the (bad) "idea phase". After being thrown against the wall it will slide down and into the drain. With the existing 700 baht PSC, and a proposed 300 baht TAT "Fee", this would mean they get you coming and going, for what would be a total of 2,000 baht. Will be interesting to see how many more ministries want to get in on the fee game?

As has been drilled into me, it's not about "success", it's about a "hobby".

No can do. Guns are "protected". The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) is a U.S law, passed in 2005, that protects firearms manufacturers and dealers from being held liable when crimes have been committed with their products. Both arms manufacturers and dealers can still be held liable for damages resulting from defective products, breach of contract, criminal misconduct, and other actions for which they are directly responsible. They may also be held liable for negligent entrustment when they have reason to know a gun is intended for use in a crime. The PLCAA is codified at 15 U.S.C. §§ 7901–7903. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protection_of_Lawful_Commerce_in_Arms_Act https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/7902

My bad. I thought your reason for growing cannabis was so that you could have cannabis. Silly me.
