After Pita, Pheu Thai gets to run the show
That was not a requirement. A party could put up to 5 names for PM pre-election, but that was not a requirement. You could put none up but still nominate someone. As I understand it.

Quick Analysis: With Pita Gone, What Happens Next?
PTP 141 BJT 71 Dem 25 PPP 40 UTN 36 313 CPK 2 CTP 10 Srettha vs. Anutin, the Battle of the Builders Upside, Cannabis stays as is. Maybe even gets expanded.

Quick Analysis: With Pita Gone, What Happens Next?
Two different one shot scenarios. Mine referred to the next vote being 27 July, and the holiday on 28 July. Timing constraint. The more than one vote/one resolution is different. Constitutional constraint.

After Pita, Pheu Thai gets to run the show
I think any solution acceptable to the Jurassic Parkers (Senate) can NOT include MFP. That is to say, no one from MFP can be allowed to be in the resulting cabinet. Full stop.

Quick Analysis: With Pita Gone, What Happens Next?
This is why they need a week. They've got one shot to find the perfect birthday present, and it will take that long for all the "horse-trading" to be completed. Given the hard deadline of 28 July failure may not be an option? Prawit may be the last man waddling? Oops did he fall down again?

Protesters Conduct Symbolic Cremation
It will be interesting to see how aggressive the RTA/ISOC and the RTP are in pressing 112/116/Computer Crimes Act charges for those involved in protests. And if Attitude Adjustment camps become a thing again.

Is a Drug to Treat Cannabis Addiction Finally Within Reach?
I conferred that honor on you. Based on your professed "experience", and your ability to Google and find articles. Exemplary. If I've made a mistake, and I often do, please advise. Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which the abuser attempts to sow self-doubt and confusion in their victim's mind. Unless you experienced self-doubt or confusion based on my post you should probably retract that statement.

GOP strategists say Trump’s rising legal problems could kneecap him against Biden
I think his legal problems will actually help him. His base loves that he is being oppressed by the deep state. He can claim victim-hood. He can forestall trials until after the election. If he wins he'll pardon himself, and get HIS DOJ/OLC to write an opinion that the DOJ can never prosecute anyone named trump. If he loses he will claim he won, and is still president. Although that would be a third term? Yes? No? SCOTUS says "No". No downside to any criminal/civil charges. In fact, the more the merrier.

Top 5, but a long shot. Though he would make the ideal birthday present for the man who has everything.

Is a Drug to Treat Cannabis Addiction Finally Within Reach?
Even more rudimentary, it's already been posted on page 1 of this thread. ???? That said, it hardly represents all encompassing "medical profession" which some "expert" posted about. But yes, I am bowing to your "expertise".

Meat madness: Thai food blogger conquers Burger King’s 100-patty challenge
Never been a fan of these food challenges. What's the point?

Pita ordered to suspend doing his duties as an MP
Well the "Ivy League Trojan Horse" has been eliminated, so all is well in the Kingdom. I feel so much better.

Quick Analysis: With Pita Gone, What Happens Next?
Good analysis, although depressing. from the article, Of the eligible candidates for prime minister, only four have any realistic chance of actually winning. Pheu Thai’s Paethongtharn Shinawatra and Srettha Thavisin are the most likely candidates to be put forward; Bhumjaithai’s Anutin isn’t out of the running, given his status as the leader of the third biggest party, while Palang Pracharath leader Prawit Wongsuwan consistently remains in play with his sway over the Senate appointments under the NCPO. I can't see the Senate going with either PTP candidate unless they (PTP) agree to be subservient to the will of the aristocracy.

Parliament to meet again July 27th to select prime minister
A one week delay is not ideal. I don't see a reason offered for such a delay. This second vote should be done ASAP.

Pita ordered to suspend doing his duties as an MP
So you contend that one single person can bring about ...the beginning of the end of Thailand? That sounds a crazy.

Thai business leaders express concern over political instability
Even if they limp through this crisis, either with a PTP/MFP coalition, or a PTP/BJT/Senate coalition, there is a looming constitutional crisis next year with the Senate (repeal, or replace). It "feels" like there will be a Prayut-continued (his 8 year ticker still has some time left) care-taker government which will be allowed to appoint another new batch of Senators, and then calling for another election. PTP and MFP will have been disbanded and all members not imprisoned will be banned for at least 10 years. That's my hot-take/over-reaction for today.

Pita and his “devil may care” attitude
The Old Guard would have come up at least four or five other spurious "charges" which the pliant Election Commission would have forwarded to the Administrative Court or the Constitutional Court. Ruangkrai has filed additional charges, and has threatened to file more. I think that Pita, and his legal team, thought that they had the iTV shares issue covered and were (and still are) well positioned to defend it. They assumed they could defend it in front of the EC first. Thai "law" is very flexible, it can be used for or against anyone by those above in the Thai Social Pyramid. It's baked into the Thai Social Contract.

Thai Cabinet Approves 24/7 Operation of Entertainment Venues in EEC Areas Including Pattaya
This is probably the most important aspect of this story. One has to wonder what other Ministerial decrees will get Gazetted into Law in the coming weeks. IMO, this should have been lodged with House Speaker Wan Noor for debate in Parliament.

Pita ordered to suspend doing his duties as an MP
Abhisit Vejjajiva was born in the U.K., holds British citizenship and graduated from Eton College, Oxford University. He was PM. Quite a few of the early PMs were educated in the U.K. The President of the Senate, Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, is a Harvard grad. Prince Mahidol is a Harvard grad. "Trojan Horse"? Seriously? Maybe keep workshopping this conspiracy theory. It's pretty lame.

Senate clarifies absence of 33 senators during last Thursday’s prime ministerial vote
113,560 per month. Plus five (5) "staff" AKA the "friends and family" plan. I thought that they get 60,000 per month each.

PM Expresses Concern Over Potential Protests
Yes, but he is the (caretaker) Minster of Defense, so the RTA reports directly to him. As (caretaker) PM, the Royal Thai Police also report directly to him. Plus he's got the coup experience.

PM Expresses Concern Over Potential Protests
On the plus side he didn't say that "There will not be a coup". Yet. He's itching to get the band back together.

Pita ordered to suspend doing his duties as an MP
I'd argue that he doesn't "own" the shares, just as Prawit doesn't "own" the watches. The iTV shares are/were "owned" by Pita's father. He is the shareholder of record. If those shares exist now, they exist within a trust. Next I'd ask how Pita could have distanced himself from these shares as there is no market for them? Burn them? Bury them" Transfer ownership, somehow? Finally, the Court must accept that owning media shares implies that the firm is active. If it is not, then no benefit comes from owning them. Did iTV give Pita free coverage and advertising? It will be interesting to see the Constitutional Court ties themselves into knots arriving at a guilty vote. I think it took them ~ 9 months to clear Thaksin back in 2001 by an 8-7 vote.
