  1. I'd like to wait and see the details on how this will be implemented, and enforced, before making my own silly comments. It seems to be about more than just age verification? Some infrastructure will have to be established, not unlike the requirements for SIMs to be registered. Registered vendors will be required to insert the buyers’ ID into a “device” linked with the government system and input information regarding the amount of cannabis purchased. I'm not sure DTAM has the expertise to implement the necessary systems. Given that over one million people have registered to grow cannabis on PlookGanja, there doesn't seem to be a lot of resistance, among Thais anyway, about sharing this interest with the "authorities"?
  2. I'm not against a tourist tax, as long as the collection, accounting and disbursement is benefical and transparent. Unpaid hospital bills seem to be quoted at ~ 500m baht, from pre-COVID days. I'd like to see more details as that may include ALL unpaid hospital bills. 300 baht for 25 million tourists, comes to 7.5 billion baht. Annually, and that will rise significantly. I fear that this slush fund will be hard to resist, and that most will go towards corruption. https://aseannow.com/topic/1282081-environment-minister-orders-probe-into-national-parks-dept-chief-scandal/
  3. Someone didn't pay attention in middle school civics class... First Amendment Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. $200+ billion seems like a high price to pay for nothing?
  4. Yeah I see that now, I only read the topic title. You may be able to register for True iService, app or web, then susbcribe to a new plan. Agree some aircard/modem/dongle SW allows one to send/receive SMSes, and initiate USSDs.
  5. Compare and contrast this to those CONVICTED of Sedition and released on bail within 36 hours... SUTHEP AND AIDES GRANTED BAIL, 2 DAYS AFTER SEDITION VERDICT BANGKOK — An appeal court on Friday approved a temporary release for former deputy PM Suthep Thaugsuban and seven other defendants found guilty earlier this week of inciting sedition against the elected government. Those convicted in Wednesday’s verdict include three former Cabinet members who now lost their post: Digital Economy Minister Buddhipongse Punnakanta, Education Minister Nataphol Teepsuwan, Deputy Transport Minister Thaworn Senneam. They also include politicos Issara Somchai, Chumpol Julsai, Samdin Lertbut, and former monk activist Buddha Issara, who is now known by his secular name Suwit Thongprasert. https://www.khaosodenglish.com/politics/2021/02/26/suthep-and-aides-granted-bail-2-days-after-sedition-verdict/
  6. The Law governing "Politcal Parties" is massive, extensive and covers all sorts of potentially disqualifying activities, including extremely general things like "offending the sensibilites" of the public. So yes, it can be but maybe more of a Civil (political) matter than a criminal one? “Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime” - Lavrentiy Beria
  7. "Adultery? In Thailand? I'm shocked." - Capt. Somchai Renault exclaimed. Next they'll be telling us there is gambling, and prositiution happening in the Kingdom. Time to disband the PTP I guess.
  8. https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/resources/traveler/intl-travel/plants-seeds/plants-seeds https://help.cbp.gov/s/article/Article-600?language=en_US Grow it or buy it would be my choices. Both are easy.
  9. Not really cannabis related, so this should probably be moved to a Visa & Imm forum? This topic, exact same circumstances although the criminal acts involved have varied, has come a few times here over the years, and a search would likely yield informative responses. As Cannabis has been decriminalized, and all people in remand, including those caught with tons, have been freed, I'd say the odds of being turned away at arriving immigration are slim. That, along with the new name and passport. I'm inferring that the OP was found guilty on Cannabis possession/distribution charges, and not heroin, but his narrative is quite disjointed. Can the OP share more details? Which crimes were charged? What was the sentence? What were you told when you were deported? Can you share any paperwork you signed?
  10. That's him on the left, easy to be "articulate" when you have the biggest gun...
  11. This chap is easily flummoxed. Every bill, nay Parliament itself, is in "tatters". All interest in legislating is off the table until after an election. And the the current "law" is very, very clear on Cannabis use. It is legal to produce, sell, use. End of story.
  12. The "No Pciture" on entrance is a giveaway. No record of her entering the facility so the start date defaulted to some earlier date, maybe from when the system was first initialized?
  13. Republicans have their second successful vote in the 118th Congress. Both have been for "Adjournment". Gettin' stuff done.
  14. Google: death in thailand site: aseannow.com yields many, but maybe this is the one you remember? https://aseannow.com/topic/1269058-special-feature-what-happens-when-a-foreigner-dies-in-thailand/
  15. +1 for Kaleidoscope. Recommend reading about it, sans spoilers, to determine the best order - episodes are titled by colors and can be watched in any order - for YOU to watch. I took it straight up, as Netflix offered. Brilliant ensemble cast led by Giancarlo Esposito. Glass Onion, OK. 7.5/10 Wednesday awesome 9.5/10 The Recruit 8/10, likeable spy romp. Traitor, so-so 7/10. Slow Horses, part 2, 9.5/10. Love this show, as close to LeCarre as possible, maybe it's because Gary Oldman also protrayed George Smiley. I must read the books. Loving the Taylor Sheridan Streaming Network...1883, 1923, Yellowstone...Tulsa King...Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 coming soon, prayers for Jeremy Renner to make a full recovery. I liked The Peripheral. Will watch Jack Ryan part 3.
  16. Huge Monk fan here. Struggling to name my favorite composition... "Straight, No Chaser"? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWNhvGhhCWY or "Round Midnight" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC68NtEmAcc There are quite a few live performances on Youtube where you can get a feel for his style. Documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FT9VeJBcEBM He is in the famous photograph: A Great Day in Harlem. He's easy to spot! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Great_Day_in_Harlem_(photograph)
  17. In my home state in the U.S. everything must be tested, and they're not concerned with THC content per se. It's more about safety. The highest I see I my "home" dispensary in the U.S. this morning is 29.7%. Some people conflate total cannabanoids with THC. A relatively small segment of the market buys solely on THC numbers. There are "Moon Rocks" which are flower at their core, then drizzeled with extract oil, and rolled in kief. These are in the 50% THC range. Likewise Live Resin is in this same 50% range. Concentrates and Distillates go up into the high 80's/low 90's THC content is more or less irrelevant, IMO, you just consume more or less to get your desired effects. Which drugs are you reading about which are "laced" onto Cannabis? And are these drugs metabolized by smoking? This sounds a bit urban-legendy. Can you elaborate on this? This is here, in Thailand? These buds are marketed as something other than CBD? Why couldn't they be sold?
  18. It seems like one particular text message set Musk off so much he decided, somewhat erraticlly and in less than a minute, to purchase Twitter. Elon Musk’s Text Messages Explain Everything A disastrous year for the tech industry, captured for eternity in a billionaire’s private exchanges Exhibit H also shows what happens when somebody with actual expertise questions the visionaries. The entire document is a demonstration of elite-level brownnosing, with the exception of one man: then-Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal. The two seem to hit it off—Musk likes that Agrawal is an engineer who can “do hardcore programming”—but then Agrawal sends Musk a text about his unhinged tweets. “You are free to tweet ‘is Twitter dying’ or anything else about Twitter - but it’s my responsibility to tell you that it’s not helping me make Twitter better in the current context,” he says to Musk. This small suggestion appears to enrage Musk and, it seems, alters the entire history of the company forever. “What did you get done this week?” Musk shoots back. And then, less than one minute later, the billionaire writes, “I’m not joining the board. This is a waste of time. Will make an offer to take Twitter private.” https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2022/12/elon-musk-texts-twitter-purchase-exhibit-h/672595/ The full Exhibit H filed in Twitter V. Musk. https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/23112929-elon-musk-text-exhibits-twitter-v-musk
  19. Is he even a U.S. citizen? R-Brazil? Can we see his birth certificate? Or if he is naturalized does he meet the Article I, Sec. 2 requirements? No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen. Art. I Section 2 Some are saying he has told the New York Republican establishment that he will NOT run for re-election in 2024.
  20. I'm sure this is just one bad apple. /spit-take. Kicking-back upwards of 18% of an annual budget is bold. But prayuth told us he would eliminate corruption, as part of his twenty-year plan, so we just have to wait another 12-ish years.
  21. Was there a fireplace in IRS Commissioner Rettig's office?
  22. Agreed. "Gettin' stuff done" should be the campaign tag-line. Simply amazing all that he has accomplished. It helps when you have policies, core beliefs and faith in America's propsects. Unlike the republicans who only seem to have complaints, and zero solutions. No problem with age - experience and character mean more than youthfulness. If he chooses not to run then it will be wide open, but a Democratic governor like Gretchen Whitmer or Jared Polis might have a solid chance? Kamala Harris would make a good POTUS but she polls poorly for obvious reasons. Same goes for Sen. Warren. Enjoy a well-deserved vacation.
  23. Unless he was burning his Christmas shopping list, or something similarly personal, this action speaks to criminal intent of underlying activity (ies), and destruction of government property. And given other testimony that Meadows ordered WH staff to keep minimal records, and meetings, "off the books", he clearly understood that these activities were illegal. I'm guessing Cipollone informed him often on this. Cipollone is the one who referred to this as a “a murder-suicide pact.” Definitely not a good look for Mr. Meadows. Can't wait to see which actors get to play him, and his fireplace antics will certainly warrant a long shot, with an exterior of the WH chimney belching smoke. Without Ms. Hutchinson, not unlike John Dean before her, the country would be in a much more challenging era.
