Over the counter ATM withdrawal
bamnutsak replied to gargamon's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
From https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/personal/get-support/convert-currency.html 20 Dec/0% bank fee MC has their rate, the XE rate is irrelelvant. I think this is one of the better methods to obtain local currency at a good rate without cash in hand. 1 Thai Baht = 0.028808 United States Dollar Your transaction amount of 40,000.00 THB = 1,152.32 USD in your card currency -
FWIW, I was quoting kimdotcom, and mocking elmu's "comment".

8.1 million Thais are poor, 4.4 million below poverty line – NESDC
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
One-third of adult Thai citizens applied for welfare Applications for welfare have seen a huge jump, with 22 million Thai people requesting a state welfare card in the latest round of registration. That massive figure equates to about one-third of the entire adult population of Thailand. It is a huge jump from the current 13.5 million people now carrying welfare cards in the country. The figures come after the end of the last registration period in October. Deputy Finance Minister Santi Promphat reported the numbers and said that many applying for welfare are likely the result of the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic hardship that it brought over the last few years. The deputy minister was not shocked by the unusually high number of applicants for welfare. He says that a large percentage of the people who applied were likely from vulnerable groups like those who suffer from chronic illness or may even be bedridden. Another big chunk of applicants may have just not been prepared for the drawn-out economic drop of the pandemic. https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/economy/one-third-of-adult-thai-citizens-applied-for-welfare -
Intital reports this morning said that all crew had been rescued and accounted for, and that there were a few minor injuries. Clealry those initial reports were inaccurate. Now we'll have to wait further for accurate news, and a bit longer for the results of a full, transparent and complete investigation. Hopefully the loss of life is none. With ranges being reported of 28 - 31, the potential death toll from this disaster is horrible to consider. Based on Thai reports, and the Defense Minister's (Prayuth) statements, it does sound quite a bit worse than initially reported.

This, more than likely would trigger a Suthep/PDRC-led Bangkok Shutdown a la 2013/14. As would any discussions about reforming institutions. Probably won't get that far in this cycle. Maybe in ~ 8 - 10 years during the next spasm. -
VISA Exchange rate
bamnutsak replied to Wandr's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Yeah, that's not how this works. Now if you had a visa card from a thai bank and used it in the U.S. then yes, you'd pay 35.16 for one single dollar. Still unclear on what the OP is doing? -

You made a charge here in Thailand? In THB? When? I see 34.7657 as the Visa/0% "rate" right now? No clue where you're gettting 35.16? Or did you use DCC? -

I think that was a "feature" of the most recent Constitution, and not a "bug". And it was meant to insure that any pesky representative "government" could NOT be established. Everyone could see this, during the drafting/referendum days, but it was played down for the masses. Section 158 The King appoints the Prime Minister and not more than thirty five other Ministers to constitute the Council of Ministers having the duties to carry out the administration of the State affairs in accordance with the principle of collective responsibility. The Prime Minister must be appointed from a person who is approved by the House of Representatives under section 159. The President of the House of Representatives shall countersign the Royal Command appointing the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister shall not hold office for more than eight years in total, whether or not holding consecutive term. However, it shall not include the period during which the Prime Minister carries out duties after vacating office. Section 159 The House of Representatives shall complete its consideration for approval of the person suitable to be appointed as Prime Minister from a person who has the qualifications and is not under any of the prohibitions under section 160, and is a person listed by a political party under section 88, only with respect to the list of names of political parties whose members have been elected as Members of the House of Representatives constituting not less than five per cent of the total number of existing Members of the House of Representatives. The nomination under paragraph one shall be endorsed by members comprising not less than one-tenth of the total number of the existing Members of the House of Representatives. The resolution of the House of Representatives approving the appointment of a person as Prime Minister shall be passed by open votes and by the votes of more than one half of the total number of the existing Members of the House of Representatives -

I use this one as well. You can plug in any bank fee (Foreign Currency Transaction fee), the default is 2% so remember to change it to 0% if your card(s) do not charge this fee. https://www.nerdwallet.com/best/credit-cards/no-foreign-transaction-fee -
I have not, but I am a Fastbuds fan. There are strain/grow and smoke reviews found easily on line. Nice dense buds, smell tropical, the taste is a bit sweet and diesel, the effect seems to be trippy and begin with energetic effect the more you smoke it will turn into melting body high. 2 weeks ago https://growdiaries.com/seedbank/fastbuds/lsd-25-auto I think it's popular because all purple strains are popular, it's indica leaning (65%). There are a reasonable amout of sellers here, just go on LINE, Shopping and search for LSD-25 and LSD25. HI OG has it for 280. Several other suppliers look good. Maybe try three separate one gram purchases then follow up with a larger purchase if you like it?

+1. They charge 1,000 baht for assembly. IHAVECPU is pretty popular with Thais. Both of these would be BTO and "remote" purchases.

When there is an issue I use the web or mobile app to Chat with the Seller. They almost always want photos of the box and contents. I use my phone, which with the app makes uploading photos simple. If on the web you'll have to get them to your PC. Out of what must be close to 500 orders I've had issues two times. Both resolved via chat. I buy from as reputable (Lazmall, high ratings, big volumes) a source as possible. Price is not the most important factor for me.

Yes, of course. The boom - imitator (100X) - drive price to unprofitable levels - move on - bust cycle has been here since forever. Were you here for the "coffee-bun" fad, ~ 2006? Any discussion on how few shops/"companies" survive now, with so many unknowns is challenging, especially with laws yet to be finalized. You will need a high concentration in tourist areas, but outside of those, not so many (per M2). Not that much different ratio from other "entertainment" service points. So the shake-out may be significant. Who knows what the final production/distribution channels will look like. Probably two - four primary "brands", like everything here. But who knows? The Hope Springs eternal.

Those prices are wholesale, but retail prices are also falling preciptiously throughout the U.S. And people forget to add on the extra taxes, which at the retail PoS amount to ~ 20%. In some cases the legal product is actually less expensive than the black/grey-market product. In my home state... https://masscannabiscontrol.com/open-data/sales-and-product-distribution/ https://www.boston.com/news/business/2022/12/13/cannabis-prices-recreational-massachusetts-plummet-dispensary-owners-future/?s_campaign=Email:BComToday&SUBID=05bc500d4b&AUDID=24232545 Here, in Thailand, there is no export market, so domestic markets only. And the only variables are tourist numbers/usage, and import volumes. I think it's safe to say that imports will decrease somewhat, although that could remain a niche market for tourists, and domestic wholesale and retail prices will decrease. The domestic market (Thais and other long-stayers) is somewhat fixed unless they/we increase consumption per capita, and production, based on grow-light and seed sales, and photos we've seen of massive outdoor grows, is growing rapidly. Unless harvests (supply) are destroyed, prices will crater. You already see sales promotions of up to 50% for older stocks. This assumes no extract products > 0.2% are allowed. If they are (vapes, edibles, concentrates, etc.) then any flower price drop might be somewhat ameliorated? Can't speak to the brick/dirt-weed but think that market will be wiped out. I'm shocked there is even a market for this now. Hardly worth the gas for the boat to make the trip across the Mekong? So yes, Thailand is "heading there".

Well they would be had Congress not passed the PLCAA in 2005. To prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others. https://www.congress.gov/bill/109th-congress/senate-bill/397/text

Musk’s Twitter reportedly hasn’t paid rent on its office spaces for weeks
bamnutsak replied to Scott's topic in World News
Looks like he needs cash....to potentially service Twitter debt...is he nose-diving Twitter into bankruptcy to get a better "deal" on buying back the $13B in debt? Musk cashes out another $3.6 bln in Tesla stock Dec 15 (Reuters) - Tesla (TLSA.O) boss Elon Musk disclosed another $3.6 billion in stock sales on Wednesday, taking his total near $40 billion this year and frustrating investors as the company's shares wallow at two-year lows. A U.S securities filing showed he unloaded 22 million shares in the world's most valuable carmaker over three days from Monday to Wednesday. The sale is the second big chunk of stock he has cashed out since his $44 billion purchase of Twitter in October, despite his repeated assurance in April that he was done selling Tesla shares. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/elon-musk-sells-22-mln-tesla-shares-worth-36-bln-filing-2022-12-15/ -
When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. Maya Angelou And to answer your question: The U.S.A. came out "on top" here. Demanding positive changes in the U.S. hardly qualifies as an act of hate. In fact it displays love for something that can always be better, and be improved upon. I mean that's why we have Amendments to our constitution. Please see the Thirteenth and Fifteenth Amendments just to get yourself up to speed.

At one point, when Musk attempted to speak, Chappelle interrupted, saying, “Don’t say nothing. You hear that sound, Elon? That’s the sound of pending civil unrest.” After more jeers, Chappelle ended his show with a reprimand and a prayer. “Booing is not the best thing you can do,” he said. “I wish everybody in this auditorium the joy of feeling free and may your pursuit of happiness set you free. Amen.” https://edition.cnn.com/2022/12/12/business/elon-musk-booed-dave-chappelle/index.html Next up we'll be told that musk and chappelle are being "silenced". And that expressing yourself by booing is "not the best thing you can do". Seriously I can't figure these folks out. But I do love it when they show us who they really are.

Thailand to turn chilly for seven days from Tuesday

Finally. But that means burning season is just around the corner. -
Various leasing companies in the U.S. and Japan. With seven A350's, used on domestic routes for various reasons, the newest is being used to harvest spare parts for the other six. I think the Japanese leasing company already wrote these down as a loss. The 777s (~ 22) are leased from American companies. That's what's pictured and what they are flying to Thailand. I think they have been assured that Thailand will not allow these to be siezed.
