  1. Female tourists? Oh! Just remind them not to go to Koh Tao and always take the Ladies only Train for their safety. And do not fall asleep on the overnight train going south. Wear a Burkini or facekini when going to the beach so the men would think you aren't trying to draw their attention too much. Yes! It just might work.

    Stupid sexist fear mongering post. How about warning lumpen, aging men about the perils of signing over everything they have to some tart on Walking Street a week after their 'plane touches the tarmac. Many posts/bleats on this forum regards these sad sods, to no avail. Why's that do you think? 'Big/little head' just doesn't cut it any more. Fcking dumb does tho' coffee1.gif

  2. Am I alone in thinking it sad that a nation, any nation, and the success or otherwise of it's ECONOMY is predicated upon more and ever more people holidaying in their country? No entrepreneurship/ideas for sustainable development of such country for it's environment/citizenry? Simply hoards of 'tourists' descending on another country en mass and all it's attendant problems?

  3. Are there actually any others? That looks like the kind of plastic egg that farmers use to stimulate laying, I would have thought they sold for more than a real egg, I expect the farmer sold it accidentally.

    A recent expose showed the Chinese (again) producing fake eggs. The spokesman said 'It's cheaper than keeping chickens'. No 'stimulation' of actual REAL chicken egg laying, just throw a bunch of stuff together e voila! Not so difficult to comprehend when the Chinese produce toxic fake baby milk powder 'mongst many other foodstuffs, to save money. China and it's insidious ways, warmly embraced by the current JUNTA, and on it's way to a market near you.bah.gif

  4. Coming from the people who took the reward money with a straight face, you will forgive me for being a touch cynical.

    I hear Ko Tao is nice at this time of year?

    It's not being cynical, this

    Amidst widespread criticism of the single gateway concept, Pol Lt Gen Prawut confirmed that the matter is currently under study by all related agencies and nothing has been decided yet.

    is an outright lie. Many of us thought this idiocy would be quietly dropped but given these ongoing statements, together with even the usually reasonably conservative BP headlines AND 'pro royalists headed by Pra Buddha Issara (what a joke)' are demonstrating against the US outside their embassy. Someone's not very well.

    With apologies for going off topic, what are they protesting? There doesn't seem to be any mention in the news forum...?

    'Biased Thais' who criticise Thailand and who support HRW. Unable to link but on front page BP today.

  5. Let's wait for a conviction first...

    but why should cops be paid a reward for just doing their job? Should I have paid the police to have them actually do some leg work to find the theives who broke into my house this year? I'll need to keep that in mind. Remember we gotta pay for them to play...it seems.

    You mean you weren't asked at the outset? And then have wait to see the thieves' counter offer and be asked to top it? I'm shocked ..

  7. It'll all come to a head one day and I am convinced Yingluck will be treated far more kindly by history than the current installed PM. The rice scheme was poorly managed but well intended and now the subsidies have stopped and the farmers, once AGAIN, will suffer and does the Junta care? we know the answer to THAT.

    Whilst I harbour an intense dislike of authoritarian Prayuth, I fail to see how Puppet Yingluck and her maladministration should be 'treated far more kindly'? blink.png After all, she was barely there/aware when things were rapidly going pear shaped.

  8. Sure, I know it's a way of life but it's driven by greed. Wanting more wealth, more power.

    They get followers because they pay them and promise them higher positions and nobody speaks out because of fear. These guys can get you killed, tortured, locked away, break your life, etc.

    I found this to be a good explanation about this matter:

    Good book, I read some years ago. There were plans to make a film. Thank God they didn't, they'd probably have turned it into another 'Die Hard' sequel biggrin.png

  9. keep shaking the tree I wonder how many more bad apples there are, it seems to me the whole police force are corrupt and the prime minister has a very big job on hands to eradicate it .

    Oh don't be so naive, you truly believe certain conscripts aren't at it either? What happened to that BP report on regular kidnapping in Bangkok by them? What happened to the army guys who kidnapped those Russians on Phuket? Reports of the guys in green getting in on the act are surfacing daily. The 'prime minister'. Pfft.

  10. Finally the Thai people have happiness, peace and tranquility restored, the plan is working well isn't it.

    All the woes cited in the OP could be just as equally ascribed to here in Phuket. Bugger all to do with the price of rice. It's not only the North East suffering. However, some locals have worked their way around the downturn in simply raising the prices of everything, as per.

  11. An attack on a govt website albeit denied naturally, so will it provoke an angry reaction from on high ?

    I think so;

    impossible this morning to connect to Gmail, Thaivisa and many other sites like U-Tube ;

    but u know how I am here ; sad.pngsad.png

    I've been able to access all the sites you mention, however I usually don't fire up before 9 am. I also strongly believe a little inconvenience on our part is a small price to pay for the Thai subjects citizens to show their displeasure at having their country/freedoms hijacked by a bunch of guys with no other legitimacy than that they have big guns.

  12. WELCOME TO 1984, WHERE THE GOVERNMENT CONTROLS EVERYTHING YOU DO. Now with the non-elite getting more information than the ELITE deem allowable , then this is a way to curb the knowledge and the peons.

    WAKE UP THAILAND YOUR FREEDOMS ENSHINED BY M,ANY A CHARTER AND CONSTITUTION ARE AT RISK . You are not allowed to critise the Government or you might get some Attitude Adjustment , sort of modern day Auschwitz without the Gas Chambers

    Just this afternoon I was talking with two Englishmen who have been working in Beijing for the past three years and asked them about their internet connection. They told me they must use VPN's as Google was banned of course (think about that!) and that anything that did get through, like the protests in Hong Kong were immediately removed. The reality of it, for those used to mostly unfettered access to the Rest Of The World, albeit annoying and silly arbitrary website take downs, was shocking. I hope I'm was right in thinking they wouldn't be able to either implement nor sustain it, however, I too have been experiencing slowdowns/not loading at all the past few days and a conspiracy theorist I most certainly am not, but begs the question, what are they currently preparing to keep hidden?

    I wonder how they do (E-)business in CHINA with such a restriction of Single Bottleneck dial up snail pace Internet.....

    Where did I say they were '(E-)businessmen'? As it happens, they were teachers. dotdotdot dolt

  14. What a bloody rag this newspaper is, well how about getting off your high hypocritical horse and do some soul searching as to why you, as a representative of Thailand, can't come up with anyone better to run your country other than a self-above-all-others telecoms billionaire or the bumbling anachronism that is your current, er 'leader' laugh.png

  15. What I was implying that he shouldn't have used the company route.

    I agree.

    He should have used "the rent route." smile.png

    His 1.2 million quid would still be in the UK, and he would still be happily married with his "pay as you go" wife and still having a great time. biggrin.png
